In a week, this shit will be as bad as battlestation threads. This is what happens when you make "generals" for things that don't need generals. Generals are fucking cancer, I hope they ban them here after they ban them on /a/

does anyone sell convex bottom row keys for cherry mx like all those dell boards have?
shit was comfortable
>>
>tenkeypads are like $40-60
>only paid $70 for my keyboard in the first place
These prices don't seem to scale accurately
>>
>>45894150
Not that I've seen. The closest you're gonna get is reversing the keycap on the bottom row.
>>
>>45894179
keyboard logic controllers aren't that expensive, but they're definitely more expensive than a few extra switches
plus it's a whole new housing and wires and etc
$40 isn't unreasonable
$30 would be a sweet spot
>>
>>45894202
aw, that's too bad
i've seen a few stepped capslock keys which was always a nice thing too, but making all the modifier keys convex like spacebar doesn't seem to be something people care about
>>
>>45894179
Thats because of manufacture scaling and because of the base cost.

There is a base cost in making the housing, getting the switches, and making the PCB. While making something that is bigger does cost more, scaling it up doesn't as as much because its already past that entry fee.
>>
>>45894097
I only opened it to take a pic. Selling it for the same price I got it off of massdrop which was like 120?
>>
>>45894147
Post some pictures when you get it. I think I've see 2 different variations on the case for that model.
>>
>>45893531
can i get some deets on what you did to your switch tester?

i ordered one from massdrop and i want to add some purpose to it other than to test switches. im thinking of adding LED's too and maybe even using it for macros but how would i go about doing that?
>>
>>45893896

Is that the 50 dollar mechanical keyboard in the pastebin? what key switches does it have?
>>

>>
>>45893476
So has anyone tried the TG3 Electronics BL82 or the TG3 Electronics BLT Data911? What switches do they have? I'd love to see some feedback/reviews
>>
>>45894599
Its a bit on the expensive side, but its not a bad board to get.

>>45894641
They're black switches. See this guy >>45893896
Thats a data911 right there.

Besides having a slightly weird layout, its a standard mech. Though if you're planning on getting on, remember remove the spill guard. Theres a plastic layer that makes it a bit mushy to type on.
>>
>>45894538
tg3 electronics keyboard(nonbacklit version) comes with blacks. i got it for 25 i believe

>MX red K70 planned to arrive tomorrow
Not bad for my first one?
>>
>>45895228
I'll say this, if you like the way it looks then all the more power to you. The only objectively bad thing about the keyboard is the non standard layout, so you'll pretty much never be able to buy a after market keycap set.
>>
How do keyboard cases work? Can I get an aluminum case for my Quickfire and just stick the shit in there or what?
>>
>>45895467
You have to make sure the case is compatible with your PCB. In your case the TEX case should work fine.

Copped a Penumbra set for my first mech.

Should I wait for the Poker 3 or grab a Poker 2 when they drop on Massdrop again?
>>
>>45896055
When's the Poker 3 coming out?
>>
>>45896063
Some time this year, Vortex is posting on their facebook. Looks pretty good so far, though the aluminum case is not a selling point for me because I plan on getting a different case anyway.
>>
I'm thinking of getting a Corsair K65. Any quirks to its keyshapes or anything that will be an issue if I get another set down the track? I know the WASD are shaped for gaming weirdness, but will I be able to put ordinary keycaps in their place?
>>
>>45896075
I would definitely get the Poker 2.
>>
Just into'd mechanical keyboards and ordered a cm storm quickfire rapid tenkeyless with blue switches. Couldnt find brown in stock anywhere. Got it for 80$ on newegg. Anyone else have/love/hate blue cherries? I am super hype.
>>
>>45896055
Don't wait for the Poker 3, there really isn't much they could do to make it better.
>>
>>45896108
It uses a non standard 5th row for keycaps. It'll almost impossible to buy aftermarket sets for your board down the line. I wouldn't get it.

So far:
>Aluminum case, although it is this one http://pexonpcs.co.uk/products/60-aluminium-case which is probably my least favorite aluminum case
>Fully programmable, including the FN/PN keys
>Doubleshot PBT keycaps with a transparent POM second shot that lets light through
>Apparently selling with Colemak and Dvorak keycap layouts
>Apparently selling with MX Clears (I know the Poker II sold with clears recently)
>>
>>45896320
Well I was only saying there isn't much they can do because I read this >>45896075

The other things are hard to say if they would matter to you since they're kind of subjective or I would suspect don't matter to you.
>>
what do you guys have programmed on your poker IIs ?
>>
>>45896330
I would really like a fully programmable keyboard, and I am very interested in MX Clears, but I'm going to replace the case and keycaps.

I'm thinking Poker II currently.
>>
>>45896190

ZM-K500_20.jpg
100KB, 640x430px
Somebody asked about Zalman ZM-K500 thread/two ago. It just came in.

It feels pretty soft on keypress, but I checked and it goes in on ~51g. Maybe I read too much 'opinions' and try to force faults.

Click is not so 'clicky'. It's there, but sounds little muffled compared to other keyboards. Not like it's a problem, all in all the keyboard is a bit quieter.

It's pretty high. I understand how someone with small hands might have a problem with first row, lucky me the angle at which I rest my wrist is perfect for it.

No buyers remorse for the price I paid.
>>
>>45896556
See the buyer's guide in the OP. Most of those boards have browns as an option and are $150 or under.

Personally, I like the KUL ES-87. It has cherry stabilizers and I like the thick case.
>>

>>
Are there any tenkeyless boards with MX blues that don't have degenerate fonts? I hear that the CM quickfire rapid is a decent buy, but I absolutely loathe the font. If I got it, I would have to replace it with other keycaps (I'm looking at WASD keycaps, but they are pricey and it would be better to just get a WASD keyboard at that point). What do?
>>
>>45896995
What's with that weird key layout? It's not Dvorak or QWERTY,
>>
>>45897050
It's colemak.
>>
>>45897059

Any place I can get bi-color PBT key cap sets? MOst likely Vortex ones. Most websites are out of them.
>>
>>45897129
There's a group buy for some on geekhack right now/
>>
>>45896948
If you like that look, there really aren't that many options to go for besides the corsair. I still wouldn't recommend them based on the fact that most mech users do end up getting aftermarket sets eventually, and when they do they almost always regret getting a non standard board.

Take a look in the buyer's guide in the OP and see if theres anything you like.
>>
>>45897023
Depends on what you think you'll do, but most people end up getting a custom set of keycaps later anyway since they're higher quality and you get to customize beyond the standard black keys. If you think you'll never get an aftermarket set, then yes, just get a WASD keyboard now then.
>>
>>45897129
https://geekhack org/index.php?topic=66550.0
>>
>>45897172
Thanks for replying mate. Am I better considering a standardised layout and getting a metal shroud type dealy?

i.e. Cooler Master CM Storm QuickFire TK
>>
>>45897195
An aftermarket aluminum case will be MUCH better than the default Corsair one, its hard to even compare them. That being said, they're pricey so I won't say that this is the option for everyone.

If you think you'll go down this path I recommend the:
CM Quickfire Rapid
Filco M2
KBT Oni

These boards are easy to find a compatible metal case for.

>Cooler Master CM Storm QuickFire TK
That actually uses a non standard layout as well, you will have an equally hard time finding keycaps for this board. The buyer's guide in the OP has almost all standard layout boards with the exception of the Leopold FC660M.
>>
>>45897216
Thanks again. I've heard good things about Ducky Shines. Looking at that list they seem to be a good choice, right?
>>
Is the CM Quickfire Rapid the "go to" board if you have a 90~$ budget and want good build quality?
>>
>>45897234
Yup, they're definitely a good choice. They're also compatible with a fair amount of aluminum cases if you decide to go down that road.

>>45897238
Yup, its a basic no frills kind of board with a clean design and good price.
>>

Alright I'll post this again because I still don't have any idea what kb to go for. Been searching past year.

>Brown or red switches
>TKL or 75% layout
>ISO or ANSI. At this point I don't really care
>Minimal/clean design.
Like to to honest even QFR looks kinda shit if you dont go for custom keycaps right away and there's the awful branding too. Nothing "gamey"

And the most important part:
>Available in EU and shipped FROM EU AND IN STOCK
I cannot fucking believe why every remotely interesting model is always out of stock or only available from USA/China.
The custom fees and shipping are really not worth it to where I live if it's not from EU.

Few boards matching this criteria are some Filcos from The Keyboard Company. The price including shipping+taxes is pretty hefty at 170 european shekels.

I could have gone for the Varmilo massdrop but I'm not ready to wait what could be 4 months to get the keyboard as I'm typing this with half broken piece of shit.

I just ordered one of these off newegg for my first mech, i'm pretty excited for it to arrive, i really like the look.

Got the mx browns because i would assume a balance between tactile and linear would be nice for my first try.
>>
>>45897678
What country is it?
Also I'd go with ANSI if I could choose again. ISO keycaps are hard to find.
>>

>>
>>45897189
Thanks anon. Made me more sure of myself. I also like the WASD keyboards because they seem to have nice features that can be toggled with dip switches
>>
>>45897693
Good choice. I got a K95 with browns a few weeks ago, it's fantastic. I code as well and it's so much nicer for general typing.

blues or browns are your best bet

>>
>>45898343
I already replied!
If you have much money to spend, get a switch tester to determine whether red or brown. If you like, get yourself a ducky - there are availably in EU. (that's what I did)
If you want to get shiny ricer caps, you should think about getting ANSI, though I could imagine it being somewhat hard to find on EU sellers.

Also there are guides in the OP, where other keyboard brands are being introduced. You could check ebay for them, if not availably on usual shop sellers.
