Might as well ask since didn´t even find offers for these but:

Intel® Core™ i5-4210M (3MB Caché, 3.20 GHz?)

4 GB1 DDR3L a 1600 MHz
SSD 500GB 5400 RPM
8X DVD+/-RW
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 8690M 2GB GDDR5
3 years ProSupport
5,2 lbs

$1311, is it worth it?

or this:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-15-6-latitude-notebook-4-gb-memory-anodized-aluminum/1311837514.p?id=mp1311837514&skuId=1311837514

this one looks nice too:(although don´t know if as fiable as 6540 as is a new model and can´t see the difference)
http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/latitude-e5540-laptop/pd the $1115 one
>>
>>45386385
the first one is junk, and the second one is too.

>buying a 15" laptop that's not 1080p+ IPS
shiggy
>>
>1366x768
Stopped reading right there.
>>
>1366x768
Nope.
>>
>>45386385
If you are buying a new laptop, get one with Windows 8.1 Pro. Full support for Windows 7 ends in January, which is a mere two months away.

You may also want to consider getting a Microsoft Surface. It's better than a laptop.

http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-ca
>>
>>45386385
The CPU, RAM, display, and burner can all be found on $450 laptops.

Your paying an extra $900 for an SSD and an AMD GPU.

Would not buy.
>>
>>45386517
not OP but the keyboard on the surface looks pretty shit/too rubbery. Is it/are there alternatives to it?
>>
>>45386517
Windows 7 has planned obsoleteness. It's a shame.
>>
>>45386549
The Surface has a USB port that can be connected to a keyboard if you like. It's designed to be portable and lightweight, so a big, clunky mechanical keyboard is really not optimal for the design of the machine.

>>45386570

False. Microsoft will support Windows 7 for about a decade, just the same way it supported Windows XP for over a decade. The operating systems become deprecated as software and hardware changes. Innovation is needed, and that's why new Microsoft Windows operating systems are made.

Get this instead.

12" with 1080p, touch, i7, 128GB SSD, 8GB RAM, and half as thick for $1100.
I guarantee you that the E7240 is just as modifiable and reliable as the 5000 and 6000 series.
>>
>>45386600
No, it does. They're purposely not supporting the latest DirectX on Windows 7 in order to push Windows 8.1/ 10.
>>
>>45386600
>Microsoft will support Windows 7 for about a decade
Why hasn't MS made a SP2 for Windows 7? Last I heard it's never going to happen.
>>
>>45386659
You can call it planned obsoletion if you want, but it sounds like to me Microsoft is being responsible and cutting off support to deprecated OSes early, unlike their business clients that like to hang on to deprecated software for decades on end.
Maybe it's just less work to not support older OSes.
>>
>>45386659
No. Windows 7 is just following the normal lifetime of a Microsoft OS.

>>45386684
Windows 7 doesn't need a SP 2.

Autism.
It's a fucking laptop meant for portablility.
If you've actually used 1366x768, you would know it's not that bad.
>>
>>45386700
Why did it need SP1?
>>
>>45386711
I use it.
And it's bad.
1600*900 would be more relevant.

>1366x768

Had a good laugh, thanks OP.
>>
>>45386712
My updates are automatic. "I" didn't make any decisions about whether or not I needed it. MS thought I needed it. Just Bing why they released P1.
>>
>>45386385
extremely overpriced, this is not worth more than 700-800 usd

>>45386711
I use it on my laptop and desktop.
Eat shit.
>>
>>45386600
Neat, I was thinking of just something portable I could program on, but then I feel like a 12" screen would be too small.
>>
>>45386600
surface is shit.
windows is shit.
filtered.

But you're the one eating shit with that 1366x768 screen.

there is no point getting i5 or i7 for that, cheap notebook with haswell i3 and integrated graphics will suffice
>>
>>45386750
So you haven't experienced anything else then?

Thanks for invalidating your own opinion.
>>
>>45386844
I've used 1920x1080 and 2560x1440.
1366x768 is terrible.

no unless you are a neckbeard, just get dell or asus or something cheap

>>45386691
Is there a reason Windows 7 is depreciated? It is still the fan-favorite, the most used desktop OS in the world, generated record-breaking PC sales, and is used in many industries for it's simplicity and reliability.

Don't get me wrong. If Windows 10 comes out without any problems or stupid bullshit and is a down-to-earth desktop OS like XP and 7 is, I'll drop Windows 7 in a heartbeat.
>>
>>45386963
This. Using one, it's lovely.

chromebooks that bad for 150 dollars?

Will take notice of the

Price is too high as expected, but even if hesitant to spent $1000 on it, it seems sorta fair

SSD 500GB 5400 RPM(should be around 7000 I guess) , it seems to weight in the price too

1600*900 Is it? I still will buy 15´6 though that doesn´t change(maybe 17)
