Binaural beats were pioneered by Robert Monroe who used them to help other people achieve an out-of-body state. I haven't personally used them for this purpose, but I have had an out-of-body experience -- just once, by luck.

I've had 2 astral projections or whatever you call them. I was able to move around my house but I didn't have a body. As soon as I realized what I was doing it freaked me out and I woke up. I rarely talk about it because it makes me seem like I'm fucking weird, though.
