Tell me /g/, which one is better and why?
First I was like "Ruby, because it has a nice embeddable implementation", but then I remembered that MRuby required Rake to build.
Language wise, they are both meeh, but still better than Perl every second.
If you can, use Julia.
why is Python better?
i know and use Python myself and haven't tried Ruby, but from what i gathered, it seems as good as Python while being somewhat more powerful language (minus some of Python's simplicity).
only using "end" is ugly, but that is just a matter of taste (and i also considered using whitespace awkward before trying Python)
The English language lies dead at your feet, your trilby and waistcoat splattered with loose grammar and your own smug spittle.
>yep, Python is power of C combined with ease of use
>Python has the power of C -> no abstractions, retarded undefined behavior that can't even be used in modern compilers
>combined with ease of use
you are a moron. i've used Python for ten years. i've done everything from GTK+, Django, PyGame, numpy, OpenGL, Google WAE, even Jython, and EVEN Python 1.5 on an old CDMA chip (most retarded idea a manufacturer ever had,) and not that anyone gives a shit about this, but, even PyPy.
Python is not C. You're retarded. Your comparison is retarded. I don't mean to be mean, but I don't want anyone else reading your ignorant post and believing it.
>it's pretty simple to write simple programs and takes some time to do more complex apps
>simple things take some time done and things that are more complex than simple things take more time
writing not so complex program in C and Python takes similiar amount of time and both of them are easy to do it (but Python is even more readable and easier)
when it's about writing complex apps, then it for sure takes much more time, but it's still easy to write (I mean in Python)
C may be pain in ass when it comes to do some game or "Swans" player, Python is not
>hi i've used python since 2004
>i've done everything there needs to be done, even finding a real python and stuffing it into a usb port
>you're a moron and you're a retard
>i hope i didn't hurt your feelings :^)
>PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THIS GUY SAYS
yeah yeah old guy, i'm pretty sure he didn't literally mean something like
python = C.simplified
if you can't even differentiate a scripting language and nonscripting language you'd really stay clear of /g/ and go back to reddit, amirite? no harm done in this simple and harmless, albeit absurdly wrong abstraction.
This is Coke vs Pepsi. At least argue about languages that are meaningfully different.
I think Ruby is the better language because you can almost do everything is with it (except macros but that will always be a Lisp domain).
The problem is that Ruby can never beat Python because every math academic has learned Python. The excuse for that is that "it is so easy". Therefore the students of those academics will learn Python again.
The author of Python works for Google.
The author of Ruby is approved by Stallman.
You tell me.
