How do I go back to Mavericks if I don't like it right now?
>>

>What do you think of Yosemite?
What's there to think?
It's just mavericks with a rethemed closed-source desktop environment.
>>
>>43210129
it's fucking shit
mavericks will be the last good looking version
>>
>>43210129
can you change the color of that blue highlight?

I want to try it but the install process for the public beta is messy for hackintoshes atm
>>
OP here

>>43210144
No clue.

>>43210157
>>43210175
As a long term OSX user I like it, it makes it feel fresh again.

>>43210206
No idea, and if I was you I would wait for it to be at least gold before putting it on a Hackintosh.
I am keeping my Hackintosh on 10.9.4 till its in its final build.
>>
I like it. Looks nice (to me), and is fast. There are some bugs, but that's the point of beta, so I'm reporting them. My main issue is that my school uses Cisco NAC Agent to regulate computers that connect to their resident network, and it doesn't like Yosemite. So internet is hard, but that's Cisco's issue.
>>
This shit right here? Fucking continuity wont work right with my iOS8 device. God damn betas I just want my legendary tier cross device syncing dammit.
>>
I am liking it so far. Installed it over top of Mavericks on my primary machine and haven't had any issues yet (only had it for 1 day). I don't use many applications though so the risk of an error is likely lower. I like the new flat design, but then I liked ios7 as well.
>>
>>43210303
Does your mac support Bluetooth LE?

minus Finder's temporary smirk, it's beautiful.

just got a macbook pro yesterday
honestly i was iffy about it but i really like it

only thing that pisses me off is i have to use control + c to copy something on safari and then use the command key to paste it in some application, why two keys?

You've been able to change the color since forever. I'm assuming that it's the same pref pane, but I don't feel like booting to my Yosemite partition so eh.
>>

Not sure why, Cmd C and Cmd-V are universal in OS X.

Also, you can use two finger clicking to get the equivalent rightclick.
>>
>>43211319
How do you even do a full machine backup?

And then Panther.

And then Leopard.

And Snow Leopard.

Lion.

Mountain Lion.

It was alright. No real complaints. Didn't care enough to upgrade on my main partition, though, so I'm back on Mavericks.

Try the extension builder method then: https://developer.apple.com/library/safari/documentation/userexperience/conceptual/safariextensionsconversionguide/chapters/Greasemonkey.html

It kinda sucks because you need to make a (free) Safari developer account to sign the extensions and manually update them. Also some scripts need some tinkering to get them to work in Safari. Just use Chrome/Chromium if you rely on many userscripts

Linux is more customizable and comes with developer tools out of the box. Gotta download the developer tools for OS X, which are still much better than on Windows.

Macs take more work to get different window managers and desktop environments working, but you can certainly still make it happen.

Just depends on what you want, really. I like the software of OS X more than on Linux by a landslide, and having native Netflix support is great.

you could just use the built-in reinstall function

you like hold option + r at startup and you can DL + reinstall the OS X version your mac originally came w/

I installed yosemite. shits horrible, little annoying bugs everywhere
-can't generate dropbox links in finder
-in safari, address bar isn't selected by default when I open a new tab
-small but annoying icon inconsistencies

there are other small things, but those are the ones that are really, really killing my joy to use this. I'm going back to 10.9

other than obvious bugs it feels ok. I'll gladly install it when its actually out

Do you realize that we have also had those things all this time, but in the past, Apple had the good sense to implement them sparingly and in a sensible carefully thought out manner, instead of just vomiting up huge hulking masses of it like every 8 year old with a new toy?

Forstall might have been a real cock, no doubt, and firing his ass was probably long overdue, but handing over UI design to your Hardware guy, knighthood bedamned, was a bad fucking move. This shit looks as atrocious and crude as Google & Microsofts half assets lo-fi bullshit.

I like Yosemite so far, I've encountered no problems with it and it just looks fresh. I'm really liking the new version of Safari as well. I'm also glad that they finally made sense of the window controls. The green maximise button was always useless until now.

Back in the day hardware composting ('quartz') was pretty rad. You could drag windows around the screen without tearing which Windows and Linux definitely could not do.

Nope. At least with properly coded apps it "right sized" the window. As someone who likes to use more than one app at a time it's really handy.

Nah it was pretty pointless, it's faster to multitask with full screen programs using Mission Control. I don't know if you have a trackpad or not but that makes all the difference when you can just swipe between all your open programs.
