>Tor
>antivir? (Maybe avast)
>a Firewall? (if not in os)

If you intend on keeping windows
>restore to factory condition
>avast+malwarebytes
>ccleaner, recuva, audacity, winrar/7zip, wincdemu
>VLC or MPC
>calibre, fb2k or gamenoise
>libreoffice
>nightly or firefox, palemoon/midori/aurora if you need a 2nd browser

All you'll ever need for windows.

For Linux

Firefox or aurora + noscript, adblock etc.
Official tor browser bundle.
That's it. Basically.

While I have people's attention, I have unrelated problems. My Toshiba 2TB external HD has 140+ errors (after a Seagate Tools Scan). Every program that wants to repair it freezes. I want to at least backup everything from it into my computer temporarily while I format it. But Windows isn't completing the process.

Windows 8.1 64-bit (btw)
