Why not.

Here's mine. Only two weeks ago they started to sell UD3P in my country so my only option was to get ASUS' board instead.

>>40266524

Speccy can't into AMD temperatures, that's why.

OP here. Looks a lot like my build.

What r9 series is that?

There's actually pretty much no difference between the r9 270 and the r9 270x from Gigabyte other then they are just clocked differently and one extra fan. Go figure.

I still use my old Samsung LCD I bought back in 2004, I'm upgrading that too but I don't know if I should go for a Dell U2412M or an Asus PA248QJ

Get Dell P2414H instead. Or U2414H if you can afford it

It's not that uncommon of a 16:10 res. Its less common now since we have moved on to higher resolutions. but it was fairly common for a while.
Macs used that resolutions in a few models.

MAYBE YOU GUYS CAN HELP

My processor keeps getting hot. Now I ain't talking Jenna Haze in lacy lingerie hot, I mean breaking 80c and my computer turning itself off hot. Right now it's idling at ~50c, but as soon as I try and do anything shit goes wild. I'm using a stock cooler on a Phenom II 810, and I'm fairly sure there's a simple solution to this overheating problem. My GPU is only a GTS250 and it never seems to overheat or anything, it's just my CPU.

Any cheap and cheerful ideas? My case's inflow ain't blocked by objects or dust in the filter, rear ain't blocked either. Room isn't stupidly warm or anything.

Should I just get a better heatsink?

>>
>>40269142
Could be fan problem. Does your fan speed up when the cpu usage goes up? it should.

If it's not that then it can be that your thermal coumpound is old, recompound your cpu.

If none of the above help just get a better cpu fan/heatsink, those aren't that expensive.

Stock cooler. It's weird, today it rapidly changes between 33 and 34, but usually it is 31 and 32. The snow did melt, though. My PC has been emitting a very annoying whining sound. I think it's the haswell HSF. Any one else have noise issues with it? It gets especially loud when loading a game, but can be noisy at idle too. Speccy doesn't show an RPM change when it makes the noise either. Could it be the PSU? It's impossible to figure out where the sound is coming from.

Why is my ram running at 9-9-9-28 instead of -24? I can't get into the bios until my DVI cord comes in the mail. Is it dangerous?
>>
>>40269726
No, it is not, sometimes the bios defaults to slower values than what the suggested ones are. Nothing bad will come out of it.
>>
>>40268619
5/10, yeah probably time to upgrade, part list looks alright, might wanna spring for a larger ssd though.

>>40268995
8/10, nothing much to argue about, i would go for a 2560x1440 monitor though.

>>40269066
6/10, kind of generic.

>>40269182
5/10, 10gb ram, unusual to say the least.

>>40269347
5/10, mid level as they come, 720p tv as screen!

>>40269667
7/10, alright i suppose, lacks SSD.
>>
>>40269787
SSD isn't high on my priority list
it would be nice, but I need space, not speed

>>
>>40269809
I understand, just seemed to be overall a higher tier build worthy of an SSD.
>>
>>40269142
How do u apply thermal paste, b4 i used to slab that shit on thinking ot wasn't enough but I was really using too much, just use a drop and even it out before you put on the fan, also stock coolers even a lot of aftermarket fans suck, so u might need a new one And make sure your case fans are strategically placed and not backwards (pulling air in instead of pushing it out, except for the back one of course), get more fans if you're case supports more
>>
>>40269841
8/10, as you said, generic but powerful, why no QHD or 120/144hz monitor though?
>>
>>40269854
The way I do it is like that:

I put a drop of the paste in the middle of the cpu, as big as a grain of rice. Once that is done, seat the heatsink on it.

Once the heatsink is over it, start to screw the bolts, going for the opposite side. EG If you screw the upper right first, then go for the lower left afterwards, that way the pressure will spread the paste evenly over the CPU.
>>
>>40269846
really all I want for it is moar drives, maybe another GPU if I get a 4K display later (I've found a 7950 can handle 4K at a respectable framerate with some overclocking), and if I'm bothered, a 120GB SSD, unless 256GB ones go down in price enough
those samsung EVO's are looking nice

>>40269934

Go for a little more then a grain of rice. I always go for pea sized.
>>
>>40269901
Cost mainly.

I will eventually get one. I got this monitor from a mate for free.

120/144hz are really expensive in New Zealand, also not sure what is good in monitors atm.

Would be appreciated if you had any pointers on good (cheapish) monitors.

Just got a new R9 280x to crossfire with my 7970
>>
>>40269945
Yeah the EVO:s are really nice for the price!

Hold off on the 4K displays until a more worthwhile generation of panels comes along though, current and soon to come panels all have some kind of flaw making them a bad choice, also prices will drop.

>>40269959
7/10, nice enough!

>>40269989
Prices vary so much between different regions so it´s hard to suggest anything really. Just wait and see what becomes of the upcoming QHD 120hz panels that are coming!
>>
>>40270044
Huh, Just realised you can crossfire the 280x (and I assume the 270 and 260 too?) To their 7xxx counterparts.

That's pretty cool. 7.5/10 for that alone!
>>
>>40269934
Sounds like you got the right amount, even though pea sized is the consensus, but I usually flatten it out after applying with a baseball card or something after I seen a dude do that on YouTube, might wanna try that.

>I did post my speccy earlier in the thread if you want to check my temps.
>>
>>40270144
You don't need to and probably shouldn't flatten it out before putting the heatsink on.

Putting the heatsink on and applying the pressure by screwing it will do enough.

Anything else is overkill and possibly worse than just doing that.
