Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

IRC connection details:
Server: chat.freenode.net:6667 (no SSL, 6697 for SSL) - Channel: #flt
If you don't have an IRC client (which you should), go to https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/flt to use IRC on a web client.

Visit the Friendly GNU/Linux Thread/Website:

Why does /g/ have regular AMD vs nVidia flamewars?

Better question - why are you a fan of a graphics card vendor in the first place? It's a fucking graphics card. Buy whichever one is fastest at the price you're willing to pay. The End.
138 posts and 13 images submitted.
>>
The problem is that Nvidia is a market dominating quasi-monopolistic company that does all sorts of shitty things but usually has the better products. This means people want AMD to succeed but often don't want to buy AMD.

Meanwhile, Nvidia shills the living fuck out of this place with bullshit like >drivers
>>
Because there's a lot more that goes into buying a GPU.

Performance varies in different games, engines and technologies.
Features.
Software.
Cooling/Noise/Power consumption.
>>
>>54896932
(I'm still bitter at Nvidia's faultily designed and specced graphics cards melting laptops and them never owning up to it and fixing it. That shit is basically inexcusable)

If you know something the host doesn't, the channel sucks
If the host has an agenda or is shilling, no matter wether they're payed or not, the channel sucks
If the channel is hosted by an enthusiastic amateur who can't into scientific method, the channel sucks
If the host has to much or too little personality, the channel sucks

Too many chances to get disqualified for a youtube channel about technology to ever cater to the autists of this board.

I'm looking to buy a TKL ISO DE keyboard with MX reds. I want to put Thick Cherry Caps on it, so the board must have Cherry Stabilizers.
The only board that fulfills these requirments seems to be the CM-Storm Rapid i. It looks pretty decent except for all the LEDs i don't need.

Does anyone know if it's possible for cherry key caps to hit the LEDs when bottoming out? If that's not the case I guess I can live with 88 unecessary LEDs...
