There are bunch of tutorials on how to get a wireless network password with kali linux and stuff like that, also there some programs for that on windows as well. So, yes, it is possible that some guy just hacked your weak password and was leeching your connection.

No one uses it in a production environment. However, fucking around with it for personal projects and such is the usual use-case for it.
Need some tech advice
Im just starting to get into building computers. I want to upgrade my current computer so I called a local tech place to ask about parts. I've got enough of a budget to do a SSD, a new GTX1070 and I want to upgrade my processor. Here's the question.
You can see my current processor in the pic. I want to upgrade to a i7-4790k. I was told that the old motherboard may or may not be able to handle the switch. Is there a way to test this before purchasing the new chip? if they current board cant handle it does it make more sense to get a whole new board tower etc and start from scratch?
Why would you even need to upgrade if all you have is a 1080p monitor?
>>54914197
er, will I still not get better performance despite it being an older monitor? as I said im brand new to this
>>54914153
All you need to figure out is if your motherboard is compatible. If it is you're set

Is Java the new COBOL?
If it's ubiquitous and running mission critical stuff like payroll systems, then perhaps.
>>54914339
It's COBOL all the way down.

Why is it that some DIMMs need heatsinks why others don't? Do they just have crap thermals, and what does that say about the quality of those DIMMs in general?
It's just so they can create a design they can market as gamur gear.
>>54913968
Why are gaymers so retarded? Couldn't they be content with ensuring that I can't buy a motherboard that doesn't look like a spaceship?

So the native resolution for this 14inch laptop (ThinkPad) is 1920x1080.
This is way too fucking high. Text looks like a font size 6 in print.
So I turn it down to 1600x900 and a few others and everything's blurry.
How can I have a sharp/crisp image without everything being so tiny?
>>54913653
Set back the 1920x1080 and adjust the interface scaling (high DPI) options. In your case ~125% should be fine.
Use larger fonts?
>>54913683
But there isn't a global setting for this. I can make Chrome zoom in 150%, and increase font size in terminal to 20px etc. but what about everything else?

>Computers running Mac OS X or Linux are not immune to malware such as trojan horses or computer viruses.
>However, there is less malware in circulation for these operating systems because malware must be designed for a particular operating system, and Microsoft Windows is more common.[261]
Is this true? I thought it was because Linux is generally safer due to better admin/user system, package managers with trusted sources, free/open software and the generally more tech-savvy userbase. Similiar reasoning for Mac, I guess minus the open software, but they have the apple store with trusted programs
Yes I think so
