Hello /g/. I'm interested in learning as much as possible about cryptography.

So far I learned some basic things like Diffie-Hellman or RSA and a little bit about the applications of cryptography (e.g. SSL or blockchains) but I feel like I'm lacking the bigger picture.

What are some good, structured resources you'd recommend on the subject? I'd like to learn about both, the theory and the applications.

This is a rough outline for the build I'm planning. The GPU is a placeholder for a GTX 1070.

Any advice?

Be sure to link this the next time someone unironically recommends learning Hasklel
>purely functional dictionaries are typically 10x slower than a decent hash table
>most functional programming languages (OCaml, Haskell, Scala) are incapable of expressing a fast generic mutable hash table because they lack the killer combo of: reified generics, value types and a fast GC write barrier
>if you want a shared mutable collection such as an in-memory database then there is no efficient purely functional solution
>Compare Prim’s algorithm in 12 lines of Python with Prim’s algorithm in 20 lines of Haskell. And why does the Haskell use Prim’s algorithm? Probably because Kruskal’s algorithm is built upon the union-find collection and there is no known efficient purely functional union-find collection
>For years the functional programming community brandished beautifully short implementations of the Sieve of Eratosthenes and Quicksort algorithms. These were even taught to students for years. Only many years later did it emerge that their solutions did not implement those algorithms. Melissa O’Neill even published a paper correcting the Sieve of Eratosthenes in Haskell. In particular, her genuine sieve requires 100x more code than the original Haskell. Same for quicksort where Haskell’s elegant two-line sort is over 1,000x slower than Sedgewick’s Quicksort in C because the Haskell deep copies lists over and over again, completely blowing the asymptotic IO complexity of Hoare original algorithm

Anyone own a Dell S2716DG? I have IPS 24in 1080p displays currently at home but have a 144hz monitor at work, and now can't enjoy 60hz at all.

I'm trying to get a particularly shitty device online and have come across an interesting problem. When loading a web page in elinks the CPU usage pegs at 100% for about 55 seconds during which time I can't do anything. However if I download the page with curl or wget then view the downloaded page in elinks I can have the page up in less than 10 seconds including typing commands and the processor never goes past 60% usage. Is the problem here that elinks is just incredibly inefficient or is there some thing else going on here?

Also, what's the shittiest device you've got online in recent years?

wget will only pull the page by default, it wont traverse any of the backgroud bullshit like elinks tries to.

That could be it. I forgot I had another browser (retawq) installed so I tried to load a page in that and it loaded almost instantly with CPU usage going just barely over 60%.

>>54932232
That looks like shit.

From what I understand binary blobs are parts of code which cannot be read, and you are not really sure what they do. They could for example extract what you are doing on your computer and send this information somewhere.

Is this possible and if so is there ways to safe-guard oneself against this?

I'm considering buying a used work station on eBay and adding a graphics card for gaming and work purposes.

You can get shit like
>3GHz Xenon Processors
>12+ GB of ram
>1TB + hard drive
for around $150 or even below a lot of the time.
The thing is that most of them don't come with a good graphics card.

So which graphics card nowadays will run most games?

That sounds too simple... Too simple.

Wouldn't Google and other companies attempt to make ad-blockers illegal, since it is getting in the way of company finances?
