I'm a poorfag who cannot maintance a balance of $300 in his bank account.
BoA is changing the rules and my ancient account is now gonna be charged a maintenance fee since I cannot maintain this balance.
Is there any free checking options I can switch to?
I know google wallet was one but how would one deposit money without a bank account?
I'm not paying a bank to hold my money.

There's 2 by me, I probably should.
Thanks.
>>54946427
You're welcome.
$300 is not a healthy amount to have in a checking account, what the fuck do you even do for a living where maintaining that is hard? You should probably assess your lifestyle and expenses/career on the whole.
Name a better GNU OS and why.
Protip: You cannot do this.
Am I the only one not liking Fedora for its name?
>>54947588
I think most users would rather it had a different name.
>>54946252
That's not a GNU OS you tard. That's Fedora, a Linux distribution.
>>54947588
You, the 90% of /v/ who think every Linux distribution is Fedora, 80% of the new users on /g/ since 2012 who don't know how this isn't /v/consumertech, and 60% of /g/ users who actually use a Linux distribution (but actually dual boot into it for les lulz haxxors and probably use something stupid like Arch)
Is there a modern day phone that comes close to the experience of a Nokia Lumia 920?
Since WM10 sucks major balls, and WP8 is a dead end...
Unpopular opinion here
WP8 was just so well designed, fluid, consistent, fast, stable and dependable... And the 920 had a good camera, battery and reception, was built like a rock and looked great. Just the perfect package...
I'm not trying to be biased here, but every phone I come across just seems like a downgrade.
I can't stand the design of the iPhone and iOS, it feels like a 2009-envisioning of the smartphone, but I think it wins in terms of reliability.
The Sony Xperia Z5 comes close in terms of design and build quality, but I'm afraid Android will piss me off as much as WM10 does. I have literally zero tolerance for bugs and crashes, and Android is just so cluttered and inconsistent.
tl;dr Need a bullshit-free smartphone that is reliable, built like a rock and doesn't look like shit.
I want an ubuntu phone with apk support desu.
Not a single phone can compare. Windows phone is dead. iOS or Android only.
iOS is pretty gud desu senpai
>tfw I have a Python project for my uni due Wednesday and I don't even know how to code in Python
We had three projects for our OOP class, all had the same task: to make simple world simulation. The first project was in C++, the second project was in Java, and the last one is in Python.
How do I learn Python very quick? What are some basic things to know? Am I gonna make it? Or maybe you guys wanna do a simple Java→Python translation?
>>54946120
If you can't learn Python in a couple hours reading their official docs then you're literally retarded.
>>54946229
Well okay
Also, what's the best library to replace Java's Swing? Qt maybe?
So you can code in C++ and Java, but Python is beyond your comprehension? Python is designed to be an easy language, kind of like BASIC but classier.
How does one achieve the best overall video playback on Windows these days? Is MPC-HC still king? Are there certain filters that are particularly great or is it pretty much as good as it gets out of the box?

Silicon Valley had tabs vs spaces topic
Is there objectively one better than another?
Any stats on whats more popular?
I am a space guy for some reason
and I think they portraied use of spaces wrong
I use spaces, but I actually press tab to get them
I thought this was common approach
but the show portrayed the girl - the spaces user
as someone who press space four times...

What is your take on this method?
Hotter drive temps (no fans blowing at them directly) or cooler (away from hot air)?
>>54945554
better put them inside a cage and have a fan blowing from beneath
Heat rises

I have to case too. My drive temps went up a couple degrees, but nothing major desu. The airflow in the front is worth the trade off for sure.

Gee.
I have tried several Apple products till this day. I have tried two iPhones, an iPad, a MacBook Pro, an iPod Touch.
However, I have also tried an HP laptop, several Android Phones from various brands (well 2 Samsungs (an S4 and a Galaxy 5), an LG Optimus 4X HD and a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8).
My Android phones and HP Pavilion Dv6 with Beats Audio is more cheaper than the Apple products I have used (as a matter of fact, I have used them deeply (which involves jailbreaking)).
In my humble opinion, the Android phones and my PC is more capable of doing much more stuff, just look at Android Ricing Threads in /g/.
Other than being a status symbol, why do people choose Apple iGarbage over Android phones?
When you have money and you know that all your friends have apple, you risk alienating yourself from your social circle by using a phone that only poor people use.
>ricing

Why Im on iphone:
>faster than any android phone
>best looking UI
>applications consistent with the system UI
>more practical UI (one layered home-screen/dedicated widget tab/swipe to return/3d touch)
>does everything I need
>just works
>doesnt lag
>pretty much the best build quality on market
>great camera/screen/SoC/storage
>great design
>software updates for years and years
>almost no depreciation
>apple isnt interested in selling my data for ad money
>best 1st & 3rd party support
>imessage/Higher social status
It's a combination of fashion and this fascinating consumer trend of the "prosumers." The former is self-explanatory but I'll summarize the latter: people are increasingly discontent with buying things appropriate for their means and use. It's not acceptable to buy something inexpensive with modest performance that suits your needs. You need to buy a $2000 DSLR to take family photos in your kitchen. You need to get a car with touchscreen climate control and the off-road suspension package to drive to work. And you need to pay out the nose for design and hardware features on an Apple product you use only to browse Facebook.
It's not unique to Apple, mind you, but this shit really amazes me. People are fucking DYING to pay a premium for use of "pro" stuff.
I'll begin.
>>54945463
bump
>adversely affect the performance
They're not lying when they say it affects performance.
They just don't mention that adblock improves performance.
>you live in a time when adblocking will become illegal at some point and SJWs are more and more aggressive with their anti-adlock campaign every year
Is bypassing this using anti-adblock killer scripts illegal?
How does /g/ transport their laptop?
I have a 15.6" Lenovo Y510p which is pretty fucking bulky for a standard size laptop.
It struggles to fit it into most cases designed for 15.6" laptops,
and I've had problems with straps and handles breaking in the past due to the weight of it when combined with the power brick and accessories.
I'm looking for a backpack like pic related, ignore the Crysis 2 shit, I just like the design.
Anyone got any recommendations?

Why anyone would want to own a heavy laptop and carry it around is beyond me.

A gtx 980 gets around 36 fps in the Ashes of the Singularity dx12 benchmark at crazy settings 1080p (the same settings for AMD’s benchmark they showed at the rx 480 reveal). (source for 980 claim http://www.ashesofthesingularity.com/metaverse#/ladders/benchmark/overall/Crazy_1080p?viewType=myself&filters=%7B%22cpu%22:%22Intel(R)%20Core(TM)%20i7-6700K%20CPU%20@%204.00GHz%22,%22api%22:%22DirectX%2012%22,%22gpu%22:%22NVIDIA%20GeForce%20GTX%20980%22%7D )
AMD’s demo showed two rx 480’s in Ashes of the Singularity gettings 62.5 fps, with the performance scaling to 183% the performance of a single rx 480 (source, AMD’s spokesperson https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/4m692q/concerning_the_aots_image_quality_controversy/ ). The formula to find the fps of a single card is 1x (the performance of the first card) + .83x (the average % utilization of the second card) = 62.5 fps, and solving that gets x = ~34.2 fps.
A single r9 390 gets around 40 fps at crazy settings, 1080p, in dx12, and with the same processor I used in the gtx 980 search criteria http://www.ashesofthesingularity.com/metaverse#/ladders/benchmark/overall/Crazy_1080p?viewType=myself&filters=%7B%22gpu%22:%22AMD%20Radeon%20(TM)%20R9%20390%20Series%22,%22cpu%22:%22Intel(R)%20Core(TM)%20i7-6700K%20CPU%20@%204.00GHz%22,%22api%22:%22DirectX%2012%22%7D .
So the often repeated claim that the rx 480 performs as well as an r9 390 to a gtx 980 is true, but ONLY for dx 12. As you can see from pic related, the r9 390x only gets 57% of its dx12 performance in dx11 at 1080p high settings. IF (and that’s a big if) the rx 480 scales the same way, that means that it would get 19.6 fps in the Ashes of the Singularity benchmark AMD showed if it was in dx11. Because the gtx 980 gets around 40 fps in the AotS benchmark in dx11, that means that for the vast majority of games, the rx 480 would be around HALF as fast as a gtx 980.
btw if you're confused by the apparent discrepancies between my image and my post, high settings are not crazy settings. It goes high -> extreme -> crazy.
Thats still a lot of assumptions given we know GCN 4 is different to GCN 2 in many ways (the extent of these differences is unknown).
Too bad no other benchmarks yet.
I don't even care about this game, I just want to know if polaris will be a good mid range so I can justify not buying nvidia stuff.
Time will tell.
