First, a little history. The X window system escaped from Project
Athena at MIT where it was being held in isolation. When notified, MIT
stated publicly that "MIT assumes no responsibility...". This is a very
disturbing statement. It then infiltrated Digital Equipment
Corporation, where it has since corrupted the technical judgement of
this organization.

After sabotaging Digital Equipment Corporation, a sinister X consortium
was created to find a way to use X as part of a plan to dominate and
control interactive window systems. X windows is sometimes distributed
by this secret consortium free of charge to unsuspecting victims. The
destructive cost of X cannot even be guessed.

X is truly obese - whether it's mutilating your hard disk or actively
infesting your system, you can be sure it's up to no good. Innocent
users need to be protected from this dangerous virus. Even as you read
this, the X source distribution and the executable environment is being
maintained on hundreds of computers, maybe even your own.

Digital Equipment Corporation is already shipping machines that carry
this dreaded infestation. It must be destroyed.

This is what happens when software with good intentions goes bad. It
victimizes innocent users by distorting their perception of what is and
what is not good software. This malignant window system must be
destroyed.

Ultimately DEC and MIT must be held accountable for this heinous
*software crime*, brought to justice, and made to pay for a *software
cleanup*. Until DEC and MIT answer to these charges, they both should
be assumed to be protecting dangerous software criminals.

Don't be fooled! Just say no to X.

Are they unaware of the potential privacy issues with DDG? Why not StartPage or Searx?

https://lwn.net/Articles/689303/rss

>The Tor Browser Team has announced the release of Tor browser 6.0. This release brings the browser up-to-date with Firefox 45-ESR, which provides better support for HTML5 video on Youtube, as well as a host of other improvements. DuckDuckGo is now the default search engine. "Lately, we got a couple of comments on our blog and via email wondering why we are now using DuckDuckGo as the default search engine and not Disconnect anymore. Well, we still use Disconnect. But for a while now Disconnect has no access to Google search results anymore which we used in Tor Browser. Disconnect being more a meta search engine which allows users to choose between different search providers fell back to delivering Bing search results which were basically unacceptable quality-wise. While Disconnect is still trying to fix the situation we asked them to change the fallback to DuckDuckGo as their search results are strictly better than the ones Bing delivers."

DDG founder's last venture was some social media thing called The Names Database which he sold off to another company. That's enough to be skeptical, but doesn't really prove anything wrong with DDG. I personally use searx but I don't think it's a mistake to use DDG.

Why are we not allowed to have a phone like this? It's 2016. These phones have been conceptualized for the last 10 years and we finally have the technology to do it. But nope. It's literally illegal in the tech industry to make a phone that's productive.

Dual boot Windows 10 and Android. I would pay a $1000 to have something like this that wasn't complete chink garbage. The Note 4 just doesn't cut it. Android is garbage, and I want desktop productivity on my phone like back in the good old days of Windows Mobile where I didn't have to worry about problematic right clicks and copy-pasting between applications.

When are we going to kickstart something like this? I know I'm not the only one who hates lagdroid and wants a physical keypad so that 20% of what I type isn't butchered by either autocorrect or the shitforanexcuse onscreen keyboard.

So I'm getting an i5-2500k and need a mobo.

I want a $40-50 mobo, and I've come to two choices: ASRock or MSI

ASRock:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157515

MSI:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130659

I'm only going to be using 1333mhz RAM and will only do light CPU OC'ing. So, ASRock or MSI?

There is no reason to spend an extra $100+ for a new Skylake i5 when the 2500k performs the same in games, not to mention it overclocks like a champ.

What do you know about face swapping technology and its potential applications for anonymity technology?

Are there good libraries available for face-swapping images? Do we know what snapchat uses? Current face-swap tech seems to not be very "sticky," ie if part of your face moves out of the frame, or a foreign object gets in your face or goes into your mouth, it often gets broken and flickers or superimposes the image over something other than the face. Obviously even a momentary flicker exposing your face could be disastrous if you're trying to use face-swap technology for anonymity.

Does anyone remember a one-off sci-fi drama in the UK around the year 2000 where some hacker terrorist guy uses a "video morph" to swap his face? I can't remember what it was. It was supposed to be a prediction of the future and it got quite a lot of other stuff accurate, like voice recognition
>>
>>54961508
>momentary flicker exposing your face
Get a static picture of the background and use that, then just add in the new face. You'd never have to have your real face in the image, and if there was an error it would just drop back to the background.
>>
>>54961508
Probably a proprietary implementation. You could use OpenCV libs to do something very similar though. Inaccuracies are primarily because it's computationally infeasible to do something like this with extremely high accuracy, so they use speed-up techniques like Haar-like features and hashing. To complicate this, not everything is pose-consistent so you need to account for multiple permutations/orientations of edge features.
