>The French government has created a smartphone app designed to send warnings directly to people’s phones in the event of a bombing, shooting or other disaster.
>Two days before the Euro 2016 football tournament opens in France amid a high police and military presence, the French interior ministry unveiled its alert app called Saip (Système d’alerte et d’information des populations), which was developed after last November’s coordinated terrorist attacks across Paris killed 130 people.
>Available in English and French, the app can be configured to receive an alert if an attack occurs near the user. In the event of a terrorist bombing or shooting, the smartphone screen turns crimson and displays the word “ALERT”, a brief description of what is happening and advice on how to react.
>Advice already on the app includes general tips on what to do in other emergencies, such as a nuclear alert, including “take cover in a closed building”, “do not pick up your children from school” and “do not overcrowd telephone networks”.

So I've been trying vim lately. I really see how it can be useful, but then I don't fucking get it. I don't need a list of key bindings, I have that. The problem is that none of that can be combined in a practical way that would be any faster than just using the mouse in a modern text editor. Examples of things that annoy me in vim:
>Backspace doesn't work in insert mode (might be a problem specific to my installation though)
>You can't use shortcuts to navigate in insert mode, so when you are writing code, and want to move to the end of the line, I need to do Ctrl+c, $, i, which is fucking spastic.
>I never fucking know where paste puts the fucking text. Maybe I'm too stupid, but it always surprises me where it puts the text. Super annoying
>Say I copied some text with y, then I want to paste it. Now I can't delete any fucking thing before I do that, because everything I delete will also be copied which is fucking stupid

No matter how much I exercise, I'm still at least twice as fast with any other more modern text editor. It's crazy. I'm absolutely willing to see that I'm just too stupid to use vim, but please show me the way if you can. How do you solve above problems?

The End key still works, also Ctrl+c? why not Esc? and how Ctrl+c, one of the most common hotkeys spastic?

paste puts the text after the character you're cursor is on. that one messes me up all the time too, but its easy to fix with u, h, p. Yeah, its key combinations but it's not exactly complex.

you have multiple registers that you can paste into. Give http://usevim.com/2012/04/13/registers/ a glance

If you can't get your head around the modal system or you're just not happy there's nobody saying you have to use vim. Except the assholes in the text editor wars but who cares what they think.

I know this is a stupid question but I have to ask it
Do I have to change my PC's resolution to 4K as well as changing the resolution of the game I'm playing or do game settings override the PC's resolution? ie, will changing game settings make it 4K or downscaled to native? I use a 4K TV but have my PC in 1080 for various reasons. I'm testing Overwatch and I'm surprised my 970 is handling 4K at 60fps.

if your desktop is 1080p and overwatch 4k your screen should flicker when you launch the game which is normal

Hey /g/ I wondering if you could help me out as a last resort. As you can see in the picture the PCIe bracket (I/O bracket, retaintion, backplate, exhust etc.) is pretty messed up an I'm looking for a replacement but having a job finding anything for it. It's just a reference GTX 580. I've used a bunch of different terminology for the plate but not turning much up at all. Was hoping someone could tell me the exact name of it so I can try finding one.
