Hey /g/, I'm back again. I had a thread the other day here about GPU upgrade advice (I had the 2 crossfired 7870s). Well they actually both just sold on eBay, so I need to go out and get a card today. So I was looking at "deals" at a local shop (microcenter if you care to follow along), and found some R9 390s. My question is which one should I go with? I'll list them below, any advice you could give me would be great, as, with a few of these, I don't completely understand the difference in price.

1.Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 Overclocked G1 Gaming 8GB GDDR5 Video Card - $284.99
2. XFX Radeon R9 390 8GB GDDR5 PCIe Video Card - $269.99
3. ASUS Radeon R9 390 Overclocked 8GB GDDR5 STRIX Gaming Video Card - $289.99
4.Sapphire Technology Radeon NITRO R9 390X 8GB Overclocked Video Card w/ Backplate - $329.99
5. XFX Radeon R9 390X 8GB GDDR5 PCIe Video Card - $334.99

So my main question right off the bat- why are #2 abd #5 priced so differently? Was that just an error on their part? They seem like the exact same card? Again, I'm still fairly new to this board in particular, so if I can post direct links here, let me know, that'd make this a lot easier.

Will AI ever replace real love? Even in the future if we accept artificial beings as real?

Some humans can certainly come to love an AI program but I doubt that AI programs can love a person. I think love is an evolutionary developed emotion and as far as I know, humans are unable to form mathematical models of this emotion that we call love.

When I was young I fell in love with an anime character. But there's something to be said about a real person writing and acting their personality and emotions.

All it takes is for you to enjoy the personality and to some extent the physical appearance.

The human body can't distinguish real from robot. I mean, yeah you know it's a robot but it's shaped like a human and that's all you need to get a boner. That's how come anime works.

Nothing more embarrassing than self-identifying gamerz, but if you choose the right products, is Razer an alright consumer electronics company? I bought pic related yesterday sort of on a whim because I had a gift card for Best Buy that I was probably not going to use for anything else and it was on sale for half price (CAN$60). I looked it up on my phone before buying it and generally the reviews were good, but now that I've delved deeper into customer reviews, I'm seeing that this device may be cheap garbage that won't last more than a couple of months. Furthermore, the user-developer community is dead and/or disabled? I tried to access the developer portal and all their pages yield 404s. Should I return this? Am I missing something on the developer portal? Pls halp, /g/uys

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

Fuck, KDE5 got wrecked again. As soon as I unplug my 2nd monitor, Plasma just shits itself, and remains shat, even after a reboot. Only plugging my monitor back in, makes it return to normal, just as if nothing had happend.
Problem is: It's a fucking laptop, so I need to be able to use it without its external monitor.
Last time this occured, only a reinstall fixed it.
Now that is a known bug, but seems like it wont get fixed, and I cant fucking have a work machine, where I am afraid of every single display unplugging fucking my machine, and costing me a few hours of reinstalling and configuring shit.
So, what do?
Switch distros?
I'm on fedora, and used to quite like it, but supposedly, Suse has a few KDE patches of their own still. Used to use suse back in the days where you actually could buy a box full of DVD'S and handbooks, and it was quite comfy, but somwhere along the way, they kinda lost their focus. Worth returning to?
Ubuntu? Tried it once, and I was appalled by it. I am all for an easy, just-werks-out-of-the-box experience, but that shit is so dumbed down that I actually felt offended.
CentOS? I really, really want to go back to KDE4, instead of that pre-alpha mess that is 5, but the fact that rpmfusion is dead means that I wont get a lot of software, unless I compile myself (fuck that) or enable some one-man-autist-show repos, that might insert whatever into my system.
Something else I am missing?
Or switch DEs?
But I already tried gnome, and it was as insulting as ubuntu. And if I have to spend hours to figure out in what fucking syntax I have to write the config files of some one-man-autist-show DE, where I have to do everything manually, I'd rather waste those hours fixing/reinstalling KDE, since that actually works (if it works, that is…)
Or just give up, and reinstall windows? I still have an 8pro licence lying around, that I can either still "upgrade" to 10 (…probably not), or "downgrade" to 7pro.

I'm just looking for the best bang for my buck large as hell HDD to store movies and crap on.

I wont have any games on it, so as far as I know speed isn't a big deal (right?). It will be nothing but PDFs, movies, and other non-active crap.

I'm currently trying to decide between it and a WD blue 6TB for $199 since it has much better reviews.

Open to suggestions though, I know just about nothing.

----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™

Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

What for? Latex can do lots of things.

Also latex is pretty great if you use the right frontend.
>>
latex has a harsh learning curve but calling it trash makes it seem like you just haven't gotten through it.

as for alternatives, no, there aren't any good ones for the common use cases of latex. your best bet is to find a user interface (like sharelatex or overleaf or sublime text with the right plugins) to make the learning curve less awful.

i guess it's possible you're too stupid for latex, but keep in mind that millions use latex despite it being hard at first, so we're not going to give half a shit about how much of an imposition it is that you have to learn something unfamiliar.

If you just started, keep going. LaTeX is super easy to learn, like, if you can't grasp LaTeX, I don't think you should be on /g/. LaTeX has basically replaced word or writer for me, it's that easy.
