How much has codding to do with math and why?
Aside from problem solving thinking.
Not talking about basic math like 1+1 1*1 etc.
Depends on what you're doing with it
If you're doing JS stuff, very little math
Most other programming does involve math. Not only in terms of computation and algebraic manipulation, but more theoretical concepts that are "math" but not what you learn in the first year of undergrad. (e.g., git uses graph algorithms)
>>55201568
The difference between the code monkey and the software engineer is the fact that the second is good at math
>>55201568
For business programs, add, subtract, and percentages tax/interest. That's it.
For science, some depending on field.
For games, lots. :^)
Ok /g/
I've decided i want to learn a programming language, for fun.
I've looked over what each can do, and have narrowed it down to either Python or C++
So, for someone who is just going to do fun tests/build fun things, which one should i learn?
>>55201528
>which one should i learn?
shakespear, brainfuck, haskell, lisp or java.
If you just want to have fun, Python
If you want to learn what is probably the most comprehensive and confusing programming language, learn C++. It's closer to the hardware and very rewarding, but you won't see immediate results. You will learn how a computer works though
>>55201528
Python
Either way, get started now instead of worrying about what language to use
Okay /g/ this is starting to piss me off.
For some reason people can hear whatever I am hearing, be it a YouTube video, Twitch stream, and etc. I have tried a few things to no avail.
http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/microphone-is-picking-up-output-audio-that-my-headset-is-receiving.176509/
Found this thread on a forum, and it seems like this fixes the problem, but for some reason I have this out dated shit that doesn't have advanced settings.
Does anybody have any ideas? I have searched for hours and couldn't find a fix.
I am using a Dell Optiplex 7010 if that is relevant.
I even tried downloading this, the HD audio codecs.
Didn't work...
BUMP
Try putting headphones on. It usually works.

I guess that meme where it goes Windows -> Arch - > Ubuntu is true, or something like that.
Oh, OP. You're not even don't yet.
I went Windows -> Ubuntu -> Ubuntu Gnome -> Arch -> Gnome and Arch -> Windows 10 (with cygwin installed and two headless servers)
>people on here say shill shit
>poo in loo
>windows 10 memes are lies and the OS is good if you put like 3 minutes of work in

at least you admitted it
Windows -> Mint -> Arch
I install whatever flavor of Ubuntu to the family computer though.
However, I cannot stand Unity. Lack of Cinnamon is quite bad for Ubuntu. Mint is kind of out of date so Antergos is the way to go if you want to be lazy with the install but still have Arch and an updated OS with Cinnamon.
lately ive been amazed by what computers do daily, working behind the scenes, doing things literally impossible for humans to do manually, or at least for humans to do efficiently
before, i kind of took computers for granted and only had INTEREST in computers. my amazement of them was like a 3/10
but now i've been thinking, computers are insanely amazing. 10/10 amazing.
what about you? do you get amazed by computers?
I get amazed by ur mum's skills in bed. It's a different move errytime
generation Z everyone
Yes. I'm especially amazed at networking, and the social implications of it.

I bet the "lmao why would you need that" idrone defense force will appear soon.
What percent of all open source code is comments/commented? Couldn't we save a tremendous amount of hard drive space by removing all the comments from code?
Comments are discarded when compiled to binary. If someone has the source then chances are they're a dev and so the comments are useful to them.

You are retarded.
Help me /g/, I fell for this meme of a headphone and bought it. I'm sitting here with these in my hands and I can't decide if I made a retarded mistake or a good investment.
Well, they seem to be very well reviewed, so as long as:
>your source isn't awful
>you aren't underpowering them
>you don't hate the sound signature or response
>You don't beat your equipment to shit or break things easily
>you don't hate the aesthetics
>you don't regret spending money that you shouldn't have
Then you probably shouldn't have buyer's remorse. Still, it's your call. We can't really tell you if you threw away your money unless you were to fall under one or more of the aforementioned categories.

Hey /g/, is there any full list out there of how deep the windows 10 spying goes? I'm trying to save a friend for this shitware OS but I can't find many articles out there.
>toplel.jpg
For me it was the first page under "Customize Settings" when you are setting up your privacy settings during the install process. most users will just accept the defaults and never even see this page.

His biggest argument is that you can disable all of the spyware. But from all of the /g/ shitposting and one article written by a female poo in loo I've been convinced that they still send data back to microsoft servers.
>Tape on webcam
>Tape on Mic
Why's he using a botnet OS though?
>>55200765
It's so if people hack him they can't see anything.
>>55200765
>Tape on Mic
What would that even accomplish
>>55200818
It would make the sound waves stick to the tape and not go into the computer.
Hi, /g/. I have a shitty logitech deskmic and it's okay, but it picks up everything in my entire house. Is this something that would improve with higher quality mics, such as pic related, or would I have to attach a mic to my headphones so it's closer to my face? Thx.
>>55200646
You need a directional mic.
>>55200646
I'm currently using the Blue Snowball and it's more than fine for audio quality however it does pick up a lot of background noise, I would go with a more directional pic if I were you.
So is there a standard for cryptography where a file can be encrypted on such a way that two different keys decrypt to two different, but valid, files? Seems like a foolproof way to hide your ISIS plots from the FBI.
Bump
That would be great but is that possible?

you didn't think this through, did you?
You can't even fucking customize the color of your title bar and taskbar. You can either get eye cancer, or have a choice between 3 shades of dark gray.
Not to mention the extremely inconsistent UI, and their failure to implement respectable "flat" icons. Absolutely disgusting OS, I tell you.
