TL;DR version:
Bought used laptop with dead HDD, replaced the HDD and discovered that the laptop's BIOS has Master password and refuses to boot from anything.

I'm a poorfag student that bought used HP Compaq 6735B with a dead HDD. It was pretty cheap and came even with the original bag and charger. I was kind of desperate to get a new laptop since my old Asus F5R's screen died, it took a ton of beating with the screen bezels falling out and attempts at repairing it failed (Currently it's sitting in a box in my room halfway taken apart). I also got a laptop with a dead HDD because the HDD from my old laptop still worked. Also the guy I bought the laptop from is not picking up my calls.

What the hell am I supposed to do now? HP won't help me because the laptop is out of warranty, CMOS battery reset and discharging doesn't work and I already tried every keyboard boot combination. Also tried the so called BIOS password removers.

I even looked into reflashing the BIOS chip but my soldering skills are shit tier and I don't have heat gun or EEPROM with adaptor for small chips either. I already spend too much money on this laptop so I can't afford investing 60 Eur more for that stuff.

sorry anon if thats an hp "business" laptop you cant reset the password. You must buy a new bios and swap it which requires some soldering skills. Need more info whats the model number.

It's probably not hanging, portsnap is just really slow in general

must be because of how big the ports collection is

Hello /g/

How do you know where a website is hosted if it uses cloudflare?

Specifically: archive.anon-ib.co

On a side note, how the hell is this site still online?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
You don't. That's the point of cloudflare.
>>
>>55241836

I understand that, but there has to be a way

http://www.whois.com/whois/anon-ib.co

I'm going to assume Tucows is just the domain name registrar not the host, correct?
>>
>>55241873
That's correct.

There is not a way unless the developer of the site fucked up somewhere and is leaking information.

My Essence STX is dying and I need a replacement but don't know what to get. I'm out of warranty.

I could get the STX II but it's kind of expensive. Any alternatives that have this kind of quality but are a bit cheaper?

And it needs to work on Linux, not fancy but as good as the STX does (alsa mixer worked great).

There is a splinter stuck in the headphone jack of my Galaxy S6. I'm not too sure how it got there, I just know that there is one in it.

The tweezers I have are too wide to fit in the small hole. I've tried taking a tooth pick and shimmying it out, but it doesn't want to budge.

What can I do to remove it?

I once got the tip and ring stuck in a jack. I applied a little bit of super glue to the tip of an unbent paper clip and stuck it in there (careful not to touch the sides). After allowing it to set, I was able to pull it out. Good luck, anon.

Worst case scenario, you'll have to take apart your phone and replace the headphone jack (or pay someone to do it).

Anyone have info or have heard about the Fed's decision on spying on tor and encrypted shit?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>55241204
Feds don't spy on Tor specifically. They will be more suspicious of someone if they use it, though. It's totally legal to use tor, but you shouldn't go on any questionable onionurls.
>>
>>55241204
>>55241223
>Feds don't spy on Tor
objectively wrong, the feds run/own/whatever several exit nodes, but thats nothing new?!
>>
>>55241204
Like they haven't done that since the beginning, wouldn't surprise me if a large number of exit nodes are run by feds.

Which method?
Looks like you didn't clean the PCB well enough before applying the design which caused it to etch poorly or your etching solution wasn't strong enough.

As far as PCB design goes, generally you'd want to avoid having 90 degree edges on your traces.

Other than that, good work!
>>
>>55241056
>Which method?
with direct toner method.
I needed a few tries to apply the toner properly. Could be possible that there have been residues from the multiple "cleaning"

>As far as PCB design goes, generally you'd want to avoid having 90 degree edges on your traces.
why is that? Ill keep it in mind though. thanks.

Is 4K 60FPS on High/Ultra settings for modern games even remotely possible at this point?

Wondering if it's worth me picking up one of these, i have a 980 at the moment.

i'd just go for it and get a 4K monitor to go with it and if 4K didnt work, go for 2K, but of course, given that 60FPS is the highest refresh rate on 4K monitors right now, i'd be stuck on a monitor that cant do 2K with the higher refresh rates.

I've seen benchmarks for like The Witcher 3 on 4K ultra with a 1080 only geting like 35 - 40 fps.

I'd much rather go for 1440p but proper framerates, desu. I think a smooth experience is more important than 4k.
>>
If you're okay with your current setup maybe relax a bit until more is known about gp100/vega performance?
>>
>>55240803
For high settings? Sure.
Fury X can put Fallout 4 to a custom level close to high across the board (excluding FX/MSAA and godrays) and get 60 while idle, 45 in average and 30 in gunfights @ 4k.

Not a far stretch to start seeing either this or next gen cards managing 60fps.
