Will you ever show me what it's like
To live for eternity
Metal wires running through my mind
There is no return
All I ever wanted
You were all I dreamed of
Every time I look you in the eyes, you disapear away from me again
Wondering what to say to you to make me look nice
All I want is to meet you as a friend, atleast
The second day I am with you atlast, never wanted anything but this
Wondering what you think of me, makes me feel so scared
All I want is to kiss you right away, OK
Now I'll never take you by the hand, maybe you will be with me tonight
Wondering what you feel for me, makes me feel so new
All I want is to be here with you, that's true

I've been running GNU/Linux distros for over 2 years. Mostly using Arch, Debian, and Gentoo.
The advantages of running GNU/Linux are much stronger than running windows, but for some reason i have an urge to install Windows 10 onto my Thinkpad. I don't know why. I think I just want to experience the convenience of it, even if it means botnet.
Please knock some sense into me and convince me not to do it /g/
W-Windows 10 isn't all that bad just to play some vidya.
>>55244687
This, vidya is technology and /g/ needs to understand that.
>>55244675
Install 7 first then get the free windows 10 upgrade.
but you better do it before the end of july though unless you want to pay money forit.
>tfw you work at apple
>>55244613
the only shills i've seen on /g/ are anti-apple ones
oh, and amd/nvidia
i don't see the guy committing suicide
I wish you were a tripfag so I could filter you. You're easily the most annoying poster on /g/.
Is there anything you can do to protect yourself from ATM skimmers? Trying to see if the ATM looks legit is not a solution, since most skimmers are near replicas.
I use my debit card very often, and I'm paranoid of someone stealing my information.
>>55244599
Don't use ATM, duh
Pay everything with the card directly.
Also, my country use cards with chip now so those skimmers don't work anymore.
>>55244599
Use an indoor atm, much lower chance. Most banks offer indoor atm's now too.
>>55244641
This. Can't think of the last time I used an ATM, or cash in general.
Can someone explain to me why Ubuntu's out of the box font rendering is far superior to almost every other major distribution?
If the technology behind it is open source and readily available to other developers, why do the people behind Fedora, Manjaro, Debian, etc. ship absolute garbage in comparison?
>>55244541
That's a good question.
>>55244541
Ubuntu uses a patched, proprietary version of freetype and I love it. It can be installed on almost every other distro I think.

So awhile back my roommate said I could have one of his old monitors since its backlight was miffed.
I couldn't figure out a simple way to fix it.
It's an ASUS VS248H, and sometimes the backlight works perfectly fine, and most of the time it does shit like this.
Is there a free or cheap way to fix this? I mostly just want to fix it to sell it (not a fan of how it looks honestly)
Pic related
>>55244489
Backlight is obviously fucked. It's an edge-lit LED backlight, looks like it has four sections, three are opens.
Most likely: bad cable/connection attaching backlight to backlight controller.
Other possibilities: Shit you'll have no idea how to diagnose or fix.
>>55244521
Should I pop it open to see if theres a loose connection then?
And yea it doesn't all go out at once, spreads to those.
>>55244571
Do the others suddenly go out, flicker, dim slowly? Come to think of it, that will mean something.
[as for opening it... well, it's already broken. Mind the mains power and caps in the PSU]
MSI has shown us that the ever bulky and oversized gaming setups can be condensed like consoles have been since the very beginning.
Despite the price that you will see compared to custom built, if this type of product could become very popular while a custom built tower is relegated to a professional/super enthusiast setup, the economic ability of trashcan/pre-built might be attractive and benefit the consumer with an easy to jump in product plus portability. Mass production will be possible.
Now with the RX 480 and Zen coming soon compact pre-built have an opportunity to become extremely attractive in price while a 1070 could be provided to a more enthusiast option of 1440p resolution.
>>55244364
Nope.
>>55244406
why not
gabe thought of this already
Hey /g/uys, at night my computer which is off keeps on turning on for a breif second and closing down. Last night I was sitting at my desk and like clockwork at about 4:10 it flashed its screen on harddrive humming and then immediately shut down like ususal.
I didn't get the best look the screen but it seemed to just be a regular startup screen.
Whats the purpose of this?
Do you think that someone is taking data like a webcam pic, or something like recording its GPS Location. Sending audio files its recorded without my consent?
Maybe its how computers try to get slow over time. Every night a high quality couple gigabite pic it taken and stored on the harddrive, you cant delete. Over years the data of the pictures add up and slow down your computer. I bairly have anything on this labtop and running solidworks is a pain and so laggy. For the most part I never even touch this labtop. Its pretty expensive but struggle to use a 3d software? What do you think is up?
>>55244312
shut uup!!1!1!
>>55244312
Desktop or Laptop?
Does it have Intel Smart Connect Technology? I think that could be the issue
>>55244383
As you can see its a dell labtop (not the cheap thin shit you see at schools)
At the sticker says "intel inside"
Have you ever broken the mount point for wireless off? Were you able to fix it?
How the fuck do I fix it?
I know the wireless card is already fucked, that's fine I upgraded for $12 on amazon I just need to remove this broken pin from the wire end.

buy a new one for like $30

Looks like AMD is still playing catch-up with nvidia
>>55244183
AMD can't even compete anymore, they're releasing new cards that are slower than the last gen Nvidia cards.
>>55244183
None of those RX cards are even released yet. At least wait 5 days before you start shitposting at maximum speed.

Where did you get this one?
What happens if we can't solve the mind duality problem with materialistic means (a supercomputer mind emulation)?

I'm taking the CompTIA A+ 802 exam soon. Any tips/resources for last minute study? I've watched all of Professor Messer's videos.
>>55243804
When I took mine it had lots of questions on Wireless Troubleshooting. Also the practice tests help too.

What would it be like if we shrunk an old CPU down to modern manufacturing dies?
How much better would a P4 be at 14nm or 22nm?
>>55243765
It would perform exactly the same, as it's literally the same CPU just smaller.
>>55243778
Addition: The only benefits might of course be lower power consumption and better temps.
The basic benefits of shrinking dies is of course that you can manufacture higher complexity and more cores per square unit of space, at lower power and temperature ratings than would be possible with a larger die.
>>55243765
I've heard the Xeon Phi (pic related) basically has about 70 Pentium cores (don't remember if Pentium 3 or 4)
