You're all a bunch of posers and idiots. Cable management has LITERALLY no effect on a PC's performance.

Who the fuck said anything about it having an effect on performance? Airflow maybe if its a jungle of wires.

Some people have their cases in view you know.

Why are you even on /g/ if you just buy prebuilts and never open them?

why is it called a kernel? isnt that popcorn?

a kernel is the part underneath the hard shell of a seed/nut

the kernel is the part underneath the whole system
>>
>>55271356
An OS is the userland programs, the shell, and then the kernel underneath.

hello /g/
I'm going into college and I'm in need of a laptop that is as close to 1:1 with my corsair k70 or even just something that is close to have cherry keyswitches such as the reds I'm used to.

if worse comes to worst, I wouldn't mind getting a top of the line ThinkPad.

gaming is not going to be a major priority but my load will probably consist of photoshop, multiple chrome/Firefox tab browsing, skype most of the time.

I'm writing a bitcoin trading bot, and my friend is doing the same. Tfw he uses Javascript in a browser, instead of using c++.

Or at least node.

(building would cost more)

OR

Option 2:

HP Envy Phoenix 860 (*Mixed reviews) (£570/$777) - HeXa Core i7-5820K Processor - 3.3GHz 12GB DDR4 RAM / 2TB / Windows 10 / Nvidia GTX 960

?

Thanks, i'd appreciate your opinions.

If you're going to buy an alienware, buy the lowest amount of RAM, then upgrade it. you'll save hundreds.

I've had the same mouse for 8 years. Its time to buy a new one. What specs should I aim for with a gaming mouse? is 2000 dpi a base line? 2800?

80$ for 3200 DPI?

why noy get 5200 DPI
>>
>>55271105
Just get a reasonable oem mouse for $10 or so, it's all more or less the same, but gaming gear is certainly overpriced voodoo bullshit.

I am looking at Steam Machines. I know they are overpriced.

Is it possible to build something similar? I have a very small desk in my new apartment, and my huge gaming rig is outdated. So time to upgrade.

But I want it in the smallest tower possible to preserve room. This wil be for gaming only as my laptop is my work laptop. What term are these mini-towers found on newegg, tigerdirect, etc?

Second idea I had was to buy a laptop workstation and switch out the graphics card and use that for work and gaming.

Build a small formfactor pc. Forget the "steam machine" shit, use it as a normal media center, with "big picture" as a normal media option.

What does building a living room streaming/gaming machine have to do with Steam anyway? Just use Steam on it and be happy.

Is this a normal thing? My first smartphone an Samsung Galaxy S2 worked so perfect, there was no bugs or any annoying things at all but my Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia would always find some way to complain when I wanted to download shit, either there is no space when there is tons of space or it's other annoying shit, My PS4 works like shit, and this isn't just my stuff, most of my friends PS4 would always also work like shit, stuff that won't download, Sometimes it won't start and many other stupid stuff, and don't dream of even asking people you know to get some app because their answer would be they can't sign in because of some shit fucked up in their account or it simply wont download. It's so annoying it's like everything has progressed backwards when it comes to software.

I know this is an annoying saying but it's 2016 stuff like this should not be happening.

Something as simple as a program refusing to install is a big fucking problem, like downloading programs have been a thing it what? a decade? It should fucking work by know, at least installing stuff.

Xamarin is okay, and being a .NET developer I admin the libraries are pretty robust

But consider going native. Is cross-platform really necessary? Xamarin is cool but native will always win

>>55271222

If you don't know C# then also consider going web instead

Seriously, as somebody who considers himself to be relatively liberal, at least compared to the majority of 4chan I guess, I'd like to say:

Reddit is cancer.

Given my, admittedly limited, experience posting to popular reddit boards I have concluded that Reddit's content is controlled by industrial and political lobbyists who do not for a second believe in freedom of speech and will censor even the most low-profile, neutral content that could potentially threaten their interests.

Fuck Reddit, Reddit is cancer.

I know this may sound retarded to some of you, but are there any risks in using a USB wall plug with 5V/0.85A to charge a 5V/0.5A device? what about a 5.1V/2.3?

I'm afraid this might damage the battery in the long run, but what's the point of the USB if that can happen?
4 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
read the specifications written on the battery, they're written there for a reason
>>
It's perfectly safe. You could use something with a 5v 100a output and the device will only draw the power it needs. If the voltage was way off that would be a different story.
