So /g/. Now that we have seen the launch of the 480 i have but one question for you.
In pic related is all of my Speccy glory. what is the next logical upgrade for me to yield max performance per dollar?
do i go with the 1070? the 480? or just sit on my 660 and upgrade CPU and Mobo?
Eventually (~4 months) i will upgrade everything, but i want to know what /g/ thinks is the best order to do it in and why.
Pic related was taken with CPU and GPU under 100% load using Prime95 and MSI Kombustor.
If it would help i can download a benchmarking tool of your choice and show you the results to derive the weak links.
I suppose i should also say that i plan on doing medium video editing in the future and play minor games (LoL, HS, Overwatch, ect...)
I also only use my two 1080p monitors, but do plan to add an overhead Television to be ran off of the pc as well.
Wait ~2 weeks for AIB 480s, get a 8gb Sapphire or PowerColor PCS+ one, and this in 4 months:

thanks senpai. real quick though, what are the OC capabilities of the Xeon you linked?
I've been looking at a lot of Android-based microconsoles lately and I've wondered what is it gonna take for these things to really take off? They have reasonably powerful hardware at a price that can't be beat by the console or PC gaming machines, and games on an open-source platform that anyone can program for.
In my mind the first console to prove that these microconsoles could be successful was the Sega Dreamcast. It used a SuperH RISC processor and a second-generation PowerVR gpu, hardware that are forerunners to modern ARM processors and tablet GPUs. That thing offered a lot of performance for little heat and power draw in a $200 package.
I think the market is strong for a $200, high-performance console, especially for poorfags. What's wrong with Android that holds it back from being a successful console alternative and what can anyone do about it? Is there something about ARM/RISC/Android that makes it difficult to program for and deters big studios from working harder with them?
really shitty games
basically people only use the consoles for remote play or emulators
>>55323561
What's stopping developers from making better games? Is the shovelware market that much more profitable? Because I think that ship has sailed by now; I think people are a lot more discerning with their purchases now with so much crap on Android.
The only chips even remotely powerful enough are the NVidia Tegras, and even then not really. If NVidia could make a Tegra that
could deliver 1080p60 on say medium-high settings then it could work. Also, android does not support the Direct X API

Wasn't the RX 480 supposed to compete with the GTX 980? How can it when it can't even beat the GTX 970?
2×RX 480 SLI is supposed to compete with the GTX 980. Next time wait before you are less retarded before making the 50th graphics card thread on /g/.

I need a GPU, I guess...
I have 270x right now, and I wanted to upgrade it. I was waiting patiently for rx 480 but its not THAT great, sadly I have only 1500 shekels in my currency, its around 370USD // 340EUR // 280Pound.
Which GPU should I get, is the only option 480?

I'm looking for some help in understanding what appears to be some deeply flawed design decisions of reddit, and how those flaws either are not flawed, or how reddit might prevent users from taking advantage of them.
On reddit, the moderation staff appears to be vary subreddit to subreddit, with all mods across the entire site being community volunteers with their power limited to the subreddits they mod and nothing else. The actual paid staff that interacts with the user end of reddit seems to be limited to a few administrators, who are able to view IPs and ban people site wide.
The report system seems to have no flood detection, and is sent to mods anonymously. The only requirement to create a reddit account is an email address, and one email address may be used to create an unlimited number of reddit accounts. Any user may gain control of any subreddit, so long as all the mods of that subreddit have been inactive for ~30 days.
Until a few weeks ago, stickied posts could appear on the front page, and therefore a moderator of a sufficiently popular subreddit could easily get whatever they wanted on the front page by stickying an appropriate post, ensuring that the first thing everyone on that subreddit saw and therefore voted and commented on, was whatever they wanted on the front page.
So, can anyone help me understand how no one has taken advantage of what seem to be obscene lapses in design to mass report/post things, gain control of as many subreddits as possible, clog the front page, and otherwise be an utter nuisance to the site as a whole?
seriously pal I don't mean this offensively but

Performance summary:
1- Tom's put this card as below the GTX 970 and R9 390, but not by much.
2- TechPowerUp, Anandtech, PC Perspective, Hexus, HardwareCanucks, and KitGuru put the card at slightly above the GTX 970 and R9 390.
3- LegitReviews, GamerNexus and HardOCP puts the card on par with the GTX 970 and R9 390.
Details:
1- All reviews mention that the cards does considerably better on DX12, where it can beat the GTX 980
2- The reviews praise the card's overall power consumption, but some note that it exceeds the standard power limits (86W from PCIe, instead of 75W)
3- Most lament the temps of the reference cooler.
4- Most of the reviews note that the reference cooler does well on the noise. As good as nVidia's reference cards? No, but this is something to note, considering the horrible reference jet engines of AMD's 290/290X cards.
5- Overclocking results are mixed, some reviewers getting up to 10% OC, and some barely 2%.
Overall:
A good launch for AMD. The card is slightly above the GTX 970/R9 390, and cheaper. Once non-reference versions are out, with better temps, this should be a great purchase. If you already have a GTX 970/R9 390, this card will do nothing for you.

FAQ:
>When will we get non-reference cards?
Typically, within a couple of months of launch.
>Buy this, or buy a GTX 970/R9 390?
The RX 480 is slightly better, for slightly cheaper, so go for it instead. If you absolutely need a card RIGHT NOW and cannot wait for it to be in stock, then you do not lose much by getting a GTX 970/R9 390.
>Is it worth upgrading from a [card X] to this card?
If you have something higher than a 380X, then no. If you have something like the GTX 760 or weaker, then it is worth getting this card.
>I was expecting it to beat GTX Titan X SLI! This SUCKS!
This is a $200 card. It beats older $200 cards, and is on par with older $330 cards.
>[company x] BTFO! Fanboys on suicide watch! lel, kek, and kys!
We can do that, but it is a waste of your time and energy. We can talk about the new card instead.

Ordered one today that'll be arriving tomorrow.
If I'm not satisfied with the stock cooler I'll be returning it within the 4 weeks that the place I ordered from allows you, even if you've used it.

I am lazy
Is computer science right for me then?
>>55322880
Depends on where you go
>>55322880
Laziness = automating all your tasks through programming
The only virtue of a programmer is passion. If you don't enjoy programming, don't even try.
>>55322880
If you're lazy just get into teaching/nursing/whatever, a degree you can half-ass and still get a job.
If you're not in one of the top 5-10 unis of your country, don't expect to get any decent job out of any IT-related field and enjoy having your work out-sourced or replaced by minimum wage workers.
