For fuck's sake, it's CS 101. You're basic concepts of programatic flow, variables, functions, and the like. You don't need to be some l33t haxx0r using haskell on a Linux from-scratch box.

OS X will give you a nice Unix environment, and Python is a competent-enough language to learn the basics.

Once you know the basics, you can take harder classes that make you deal with memory management and the like.

OS X is fine for learning most things.

If you were serious about CS, you'd set up a dev environment on your rig that fit your needs. Many programs have a computer lab for the poor pajeets that can't afford a decent machine.

They do different kinds of computing. GPUs have a huge number of weaker specialised cores, as opposed to CPUs that have a small number of general purpose and powerful cores. Writing software that can run on a GPU is generally more complicated.

I've a nano. Really great for small form factor PCs. Currently inside my node 202 and I'm definitely satisified. I bought it when the price dropped from 650 to 450, still kinda pricey but definitely fit my needs.

The R9 Nano had a huge market. But the price premium for HBM was too costly. At the same cost of an R9 Fury it was a no brainer. This card could've easily been a 300-400 hit card and it would've been amazing.
