why do webdevs like shitty technology?
write less, do more
bootstrap is more wtf
Javascript has such an anaemic standard library that it pretty much forces you to pull in something. jQuery was one of the earliest, so it gained marketshare before everyone realised how shit it was.
Why is Linux not written in C++?
I bet it would be much more readable and flexible if they used OOP.
OOP isn't appropriate for performance-critical applications since it doesn't translate well to machine code.
>>55395311
I wish there were namespaces in C ;~;
>>55395267
They do use OOP, they just don't use the polymorphic, garbage-collected system that Java uses that people associate with the word "OOP".
C++ is unnecessary because many of its conveniences aren't usable in a non-hosted environment.
How do I become one of these Google programmers being paid $ 250 k a few years after graduation? I'd have to move to America as well (currently live in the UK).
Are there any areas of programming where getting involved in would increase my chances of being hired?
I don't even care if I get a job at Boeing I could afford a 1080, fuck sexual needs
>>55395083
Go to a top American university, intern at Google while still in school, graduate with a 3.5+ GPA
Can't move to America and go to one of the big 4 for tech? Tough shit

Completely and utter newfag on vim here.
It feels like I'm missing out on a lot of things by not having a good vimrc.
I only have:set expandtab
set smarttab
set shiftwidth=4
set tabstop=4
set autoindent
syntax enable
What would you recommend? You could just post yours and say why you have a certain thing enabled.
I'd love for it to have autocompletion on language dictionaries and my own written functions from the file.
Aside from that, it's a very neat editor after going through vimtutor.
Shameless self bump.
>>55394765
The most important part:syntax on (not "enable")
filetype plugin indent on
For now, don't worry about manually setting up autoindent and stuff like that. It's okay to have defaults but you'll probably end up with settings specific to each language. Some of that will be set up by the language plugin, and other parts can go in yourafter/indent/lang.vimscripts.
The next thing is to set up a plugin that manages your other plugins, so you don't have to fuck around with installing things by hand. I like Vundle. I'll let you google that. I'll make a couple more posts about the plugins I use and what they do.

dude, just use emacs lmao
Need to replace my shitty apple airport with something more modern. Ideally I'd like to get something that will work with openwrt. Should I by something Asus or go dlink?
Halp. Shameless bump. Just tell me what you're using and if you Kik it
>>55394713
Would you buy a router that looks like a spider ?
The more antennas a router has the better it is, that is a well known fact. Go for that Asus one, OP.
>ctrl + f
>no gcg
so lets have one
I'm in for a replacement of my 660ti. It served me well but I want a more modern card for the next 4 years or something.
Can't decide between RX480 and 1070. 480 is obviously the best price/performance choice but it may be possible for me to just pay the extra round for the 1070 but I don't know if it is worth.
1070 has lower price/perf ofc especially here in Germosque as the cheapest price for one is 480€ (+ 6 weeks of wait) which is rougly 535$
vs the 480 for 270€/300$
Don't wanna pay goyim prices
>>55394669
don't fall for rx 480 meme card or your mobo shall explode
>>55394669
July 14th for AIB cards with 8 pin power connector just wait 10 days.

>Also 1060 reveal about that time.
I'm looking to get into a career as a programmer, I have experince with a lot of different languages.
What is the most popular language to learn?
What language is going to be the most prevalent in the coming years?
stop worrying about the language and learn to program you fucking pleb
>>55394671
So i should just learn any code ! perfect , ill start learning Cobalt right away.
I dont want to learn a language that might become useless.
Thats why I asked a question, you fucking nigger.
>>55394671
This mainly.
But the language does matter if for example, you have to code in a functional language like Haskell, and you've been doing normal languages like Java and C#.
The lesson: Don't learn Haskell.
What's the most AMERICAN programming language?
Whatever Macdonald's uses.
>>55394501

Linux will never look this good.

This
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, IT'S ABOUT TIME.
Are you going to buy one right now or wait until black friday?
Price is kinda steep. Oh well, you get what you pay for. This baby goes up to 90MB/s write and uses V-NAND.
>128GB for $39.99
Maybe if the 256GB were $79.99
>>55394009
Remember when people in 2008 thought 2TB microsd cards were on the horizon?
>>55394056
Samshit is going balls out with the 256GB card. Sure the 128GB version is only $79 but only has a write speed of up to 20MB/s.
Anyway I hope we see it drop close to $150 on black friday, I really want to buy one but fuck that price cuts me deep.
