Any tips on learning Python?

I learnt through competitions (had previous years of C experience so adapting wasn't too bad), hackerrank and the like, and just looking through the docs for any queries

hello good, sad friend of mine. start checking thinkpad models please.
Check our ThinkPad thread.
>>55480614
>>55480686
These guys know what's up.
Thinkpads are very durable and you can open them up and change parts, so it can last practically forever. Just get a model that has enough performance for you. The better models are X, W and T series. Others have less durability or features or both.
We're talking about used laptops btw, they cost like $2500 new with all those features. When it's used you can get one maybe $60 - $500 depending on how new its generation is.

Why is Tux the shittiest logo to ever exist?
>>55479186
because it's not a logo but a mascot.
Linux doesn't have an official logo.
An tux is a mascot, albeit a shitty one because it was a joke that had more serious consequences that anyone involved with it had anticipated.

to highlight how autistic linux is.

Is there any privacy optimized Chrome fork?
I'm using Firefox and since years now it's getting worse and worse. After a fresh install it works great, but after some weeks I can't even use it anymore. I notice the same when browsing for long. After a few hours tabs don't load and everything slows down. Restarting often doesn't even help, I have to refresh the profile. I don't even have any Extensions besides Adblock, Noscript and Ghostery.
I know about Chromium but I always get weird crashes and after that the installation seems to be broken and I have to install it again. Chrome works fine as it is but my tinfoil hat won't allow it.
you literally have the best browser on the market which is based on Blink
Opera
they're also a major contributor to the Blink rendering engine, second only to Google

no

Does Opera do any fishy stuff in the background? I don't care that much about Free as in Freedom, but I don't want any telemetry getting sent to HQ every click.
why is 60 fps in youtube videos alot smoother than in actual games? only 120-144 feels like youtube 60 fps smooth for me.
>>55479061
placebo
or your an autist
>>55479061
>pasting reddit image

>60FPS meme
FUCK OFF
>>55479061
placebo effect, it's the same. if you even notice a skipping at 60 on a game you're imagining it. games are totally smooth until around 30 fps.
Do you approve of the move to flat UI design schemes?
>>55479022
Yes
>>55479022
No because it looks like something from 1990, just with less pink
>>55479022
Yes, it looks cleaner and more pleasing to my eyes. But I do kinda miss the old glossy/transparent trash.

I want to hang a swivel mount about my fireplace so I can see the TV from my desk here, but the studs are about 40" apart with plaster in between. How can I make this happen?
Could i just nail a 2x4 on there and mount it on that? I've read somewhere plywood would work, but would that be able to hold a 55"
>>55478945
You an anchor in the chimney, but studs should really be a maximum of 24" OC.
2x4's between studs as an anchor point may work, depending on weight.
what kind of shitty place do you live in?
it depends on the weight of the tv, it might be as simple as a 24" by 42" piece of 3/4" plywood with 2 2" by 24" 3/4" plywood spacers where the studs are
then putting large washers and bolts on the underside and putting more washers and nuts on the outside to mount the mount to
that could hold a fair bit of weight but after about 30-40 pounds you're going to want to make something way beefier
Whats the best version of OS X to get for my hackintosh? I heard that with Yosemite Apple started getting rid of usability to please iTards.
>>55478938
I have no troubles with El Capitan, although it's the only OS X I've used
>>55478954
I heard Apple removed all customization with El Capitan, so I dont really wanna bother.

How come this shit is so frustrating and yet i can't quit trying? Is it just me who fails so miserably? Do you need a special form of autism to comprehend this?
I'm going to assume you meant "watched videos" instead of "made videos" because jesus fuck.
>>55478911
What you really need is a proper tutorial where you start at the beginning and practice coding as you go. Something that doesn't just say "here's how you do this and this" but also asks challenge questions at the end of each section and doesn't give you the solution. Try working your way through something like that OP, keep trying and you'll get there!

Hi guys, I'm new to Linux so I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for IDEs/compilers for Java, C#/SQL, or can I compile at least Java straight off terminal?
I currently use Visual Studios and IntelliJ on Windows.
>inb4 install Gentoo, does Java give me suicidal tendencies
>>55478869
IntelliJ, takes some work but worth it
>>55478869
You can compile straight off terminal after installing the appropriate SDK. Jetbrains makes a lot of great IDEs. Such as above posted, IntelliJ.
>>55478876
It is usable on Linux?
Long story short: I am trying to get more used to Ubuntu because I work a technician job and the workstations are in Ubuntu (cuz free) and I want to so some schoolwork on them without having to bring my laptop everywhere
