I need to buy a new desktop computer that is good for gaming , video/audio capture, and editing, etc.
I don't know jack shit about computers and I want to customize it online and have it sent to me pre-built.
Assuming you have a fairly loose budget, how you assemble a good, versatile gaming computer?

Intel is the way to go as AMD has shat the bed. There's little reason to buy anything else but Skylake atm, so just pick a 6500 or 6600 or something. Whether quad core is enough depends on your needs.

building my first computer, I'm super worried about the cpu overheating because I hear that's really bad for them.
Apparently I'm supposed to use this paste stuff, so if I just use the paste so I also have to put the metal thingy on it with the fan? I also heard it was bad to use too much, but I don't understand why? Should I maybe wipe some of this stuff off with a rag? I was trying to clean it but it just kinda smears.... the fuck?
