I think I landed(almost 100% sure) as a computer technician(its spelled as mechanic though) which I think is supposed to be building/chaining parts/diagnosing(using multimeter is the only thing I can think off right now)/and pretty much cleaning/installing/reinstalling OS.While I my high school specialization was exactly about this I still feel really scared about it considering I never soldered anything(not sure if its even done anymore).I don't know if I missed something so please add it so I try and learn/check if know it already it in the mean time.

Almost all of these(if not all) can easily be done and googled if needed.I was wondering about more specific stuffs or thats all? Also the employer was talking about installing linux(which I know how to do at least for ubuntu and arch(and all else are easily googable but am still not 100% sure because they feel so unstable sometimes with their drivers). Also I guess soldering is not needed?

Hey guys. I have to buy new router because old one (D-Link DI-524, 8.5 years, 802.11g) is dying. I'm thinking about pic related. Thing is, my laptop doesn't support ac/5GHz, it has atheros ar9285 card which is 802.11n. It's possible I'll get some device capable of using 5GHz in the future but I'm mostly interested in the present. Yes, I can't afford anything better at the moment.

Would this new ac router give better results than ones that are only supporting 802.11n? Or should I stick to cheaper n?

>>
so you don't have a single ac devices? stick with cheaper n, some of them are like n450 on 2.4 band.
>>
>>55574786
OK, thanks. I was mostly considering this because it's surprisingly affordable, last time I checked ac routers were much more expensive. The difference between them and n is still there though.

Would Asus RT-N12vD be a good choice? Main problem with current one was stability after passing through two walls.

Since I moved everything to a new case, I noticed my GPU fan doesnt work anymore. It never even spins up. When I put the fan speed in MSI Afterburner to 100%, nothing happens. The mini plug of the fan is plugged into the GPU of course
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Test to see if the fan itself is working, unplug it, connect it to a 12v battery, if it moves, it's probably the connector on the pcb, if it doesn't, it's the fan.
>>
>>55574785
Well.. I dont have one. And if you recommend using a 9V battery, I dont have one of those either. Is there another way? However, I guess I should go to the mall tomorrow
>>
I just tested it with a battery, the fan itself works but my GPU seems to give the fan only 0.3V. What could be the problem?

The server is running Ubuntu 32 bit, i know the location of it and i can walk pass it everyday however its locked in a room. How would i go about getting into it. I have quite a good knowledge of hacking but i cant think on how to do this. SSH is open however they obviously have set up a server key... Is there anyway i could pluck the server out of the sky and take it as i can not go head on with it. Thanks

Whatever happened to phone design? Shit used to be an art form in and of itself.

is it just impossible to make touchscreen phones vary drastically in appearance when they all have to have a big flat screen on one side?

Do you think qunique phone design will ever grace the mobile phone market again?
8 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>55574275
The Edge phones and the blackberry priv are the only phones I can think of that have deviated from "big flat rectangle", and even then it they were hardly a deviation at all. There's not really anywhere left to go from there, except maybe transparent screens, which is still not really much of a change
>>
>>55574275
People want screens for viewing content. Touch screens are good enough for most people, and swipe is pretty fast for text messages.

i can buy this for 450 to replace my old dell potato.

replacement
MiniTower Case w/ fans
Intel Core i5-6400 w/ Fan from Intel
Corsair 8 GB [4 GB x2] DDR4-2133
AMD Radeon R7 250 - 2GB
MSI H110I Pro Wifi + Bluetooth, 2x USB 3.0, 4x USB 2.0
350 Watt 80+ psu

replacing
Athlon 64 X5000+
2GB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz
128MB Nvidia 8300GS

is the replacement the "best" thing i can get for that price (prebuilt)?
pretty much going to be an Internet Machine, light gaming, with the potential to be upgraded...
sorry, im out of my element. ive been looking up benchmarkers, bunch of sites, and pc parts picker to see if i can build something similar. but this seems to be a good price for a prebuilt machine. hoping it will last 5-8 years.

As always, it's better and cheaper to build your own, but for what you're going to use it for it should be more than enough.

if this is brand new than this is cheaper than building it himself. Also its wayyy better than your current PC and its a really good price.

I checked the catalogue and didnt see a thread so what does g consider to be the best computer throne? I remember the Ikea Markus being mentioned. That looks nice but I'm 6'2''/340lbs so I'm looking more towards something a little heavier duty. Speaking from pure comfort I had given thought to the high end Pearl drum throne as I've used it for drumming and it was SUPER comfortable but I know it wont give me the support a proper chair would.

Meet The Tech Wizard Behind Baahubali’s Incredible VFX, Mr. Raja Koduri!

We all have one question on our minds: “How did they pull it off?”

Making a visual spectacle like Baahubali is no mean feat. And here we are gonna talk about one of the key members behind its stunning visuals: Mr. Raja Koduri!

Who is he?

He’s the Chief Architect of the AMD Radeon Technologies Group, the semiconductor company which manufactures the processors on your computer.

Oh, awesome! So how is he connected to Baahubali?

He is part of the VFX Company that provided the scintillating visual effects for Rajamouli’s opus. Makuta VFX(Naam toh suna hi hoga!) boasts of this amazing man as its Chief Technical Advisor.

Chief Technical Advisor…seems a little hazy. Can you elaborate?

Okay, we’ve already mentioned that he’s the Chief Architect of one of the biggest semiconductor-manufacturing companies. He’s using that technology to make movies better. He, along with Pete Draper, are working on something called LiquidVR.

Still confused.

LiquidVR is an AMD initiative dedicated to making VR(Virtual Reality) as comfortable and realistic as possible by creating and maintaining what’s known as “presence” — a state of immersive awareness where situations, objects, or characters within the virtual world seem “real.”

Cool? Okay, for more clarity… we’ll let the video do the talking now.

We’re proud that tech geniuses like Mr. Koduri are spearheading a revolution of sorts in movie-making, to make the experience much more entertaining and immersing for all of us! Kudos!!

Are there are any fucking white people left in that sinking shit-ship?
