Should I upgrade to Windows 10 from Win7? Is it an improvement when I'm just interested in gaming? Will I experience more fps etc.?

The old versions are quite good if you want to make GUI programs very quickly

Found one of these at a garage sale. What can I do with it?
You can throw it away.

Put something like an Intel NUC into it and fine a way to hook it up to the display.
Install Tiger and OS 9.2.2, download some shit off the Macintosh Garden and torrent sites, enjoy a non-x86 computer that can do computer stuff.
Niche as shit but I use a dual 1 GHz G4 quicksilver mostly to run this shitbox emulator because it's fucking great:
http://www.bernhard-baehr.de/pdp8e/pdp8e.html
Depending on what version you have, it will probably be a shit web surfer if it's running PC133 RAM, a DDR model might be somewhat useful for that kind of use case though. At the very least it makes an aesthetic clock/terminal/email-checker kiosk box.
Hey I have a wild idea, how about a thread dedicated to technology and not just blatant consumerism.
What does /g/ make of SoftBank's acquisition of ARM? This doesn't seem like that much money considering how much Whatsapp and Linkedin went for.
General ARM/mobile SOC discussion thread.

Still don't feel the need to upgrade. Plays the games I like well enough.

new computers so they threw out the old ones? maybe he ganked em and no one cared?
anyway it has 2 card ports so im eventually gonna turn it into a frankenstein desktop. parts should be cheap enough.
If you have a computer with powerful hardware, you need to get the fuck out of /g/
Only people who don't know how to use technology to its fullest fall back on powerful and expensive hardware. Either that or they are gamer faggots. In any case, neither is technology-related
That's why discussion of graphics cards should be banned on this board tbqh. It's pure >>>/v/
Windows 10 LAG Thread
Looking for some speed tweaks or improvements.
Chrome is extremely laggy, anyone have any good replacements?
Installing Windows 7 Lite atm.
WHY DOES WIN 10 LAG SO BAD
here's my recommendation
Consider not using a browser that takes 2GB of ram? Edge is better anyways
OP is a fucking idiot
>>55628266
tfym?
Windows 10 has this fucked up lag on my computer, things like opening the START menu fucking lag. it's the biggest bullshit ever. mind my pc isnt the top teir, windows 7 lite won't even budge in lag compared to this fuckface os.

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

On Quitter.se (GNU Social), I can't find any group. There are no groups on this unity of the federation? The page that lists groups appears to be empty!
i've been trying to setup xdmcp on ubuntu 16.04 using gnome, port is listening and i can connect remotely but after login it shows black screen and shows me login again
what should i do, should i stop trying, wasting my time and to try to setup a vnc server?
>>55625650
Any ffmpeg wizards here?
I'm trying to convert a .gif and a .ogg file into a single webm. So basically the .gif should loop allover and the .ogg is background music.
How to do this?
Do you still burn DVDs for hoarding your torrented shit or whatever?
Are they actually reliable as long term storage or should I start transferring them over to portable hard drives or something since they're all so cheap anyways
>>55622833
Yes and yes.
They're also cheap.
>>55622833
transfer them to The Cloud
also it's ultimately cheaper
Lol how do you even burn CDs? And why would you just get a USB thumb drive.

In the market for new headphones
Budget 160 EUR
Full-sized around ear
Detachable cable
Impedance shouldn't be too high. I don't want to carry an amp everywhere I go
Sennheiser HD 558
or
Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro
or something else?
I will be listening to Type 2-5 most of the time
Thank god my parents are leaving me a house for a year so I wont have to wear headclamps anymore.
I still love my denon d5000, would get the equivalent Fostexes as an easy to drive headphone
>>55617864
HD558 and DT990 are open headphones, meaning they leak sound. HD558 is easier to drive.
