Greetings from /v/ (sorry)
I want to build something small and cheap that I can quickly hook up to any TV and start emulating, hopefully up to PS1 or GBA. I was going to make a Mini ITX computer, but someone told me that's way more work than necessary and from what I can tell the parts will cost a fortune even if I buy only outdated technology and buy used.
Is Raspberry Pi strong enough for PS1 emulation? Are there any other problems with Raspberry Pi I don't know about, or problems with Linux and emulation? Has anyone else built a portable emulating machine?
Raspberry Pi 3 works fine on PS1. Just get a case.
>>55660462
Do you know what OS I should be looking at? I don't know much about the Raspberry Pi but I can do most of the legwork myself. I know none of them work with Windows so I'm looking at the list of supported OSes here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry_Pi#Operating_systems and a few of them say Linux, I've never done anything with linux so I have no idea if I want gentoo or "puppy linux" or what the fuck but I can muscle through and learn how to set things up on it as long as I know I'm moving in the right direction.
Sorry I'm retarded.
>>55660545
just get the raspbian, is made for the pi anyways
I'm completely new to Emacs. What do I need and how do I get it?
>>55660586
Download and install. Pretty straightforward.
You don't "need" anything to use it. Look at the built in tutorial or an online guide for commands. If you're used to vi or Vim, you can try evil mode.
>>55660586
install Vim, run vimtutor
Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, eBay and similar sites.

Functional Edition
Previous Thread: >>55652267
What are you working on, /g/?
Is it functional?
First for OOP is a horrible meme.
OOP is terribly bad, on that we can all agree.
But should it be considered a war crime?
Third for I like OOP
Just found out aliexpress passes on personal details like phone number to sellers.
Fuck.
>trusting chinks
>>55660388
Fell for the /csg/ meme, they convinced me to buy a redmi, it turned out to be "mostly " functional.
Fucking hell, never trusting those fuckers again
>>55660369
you literally never need to put your phone number into ali express
you must have voluntarily given your phone number and now you are complaining when they use it
well i'm not sure if this is the place/way to (try) find out the answear to this question but running out of
options so thought it wouldn't hurt. I just finished up setting up a dual boot with kali and windows 7 pro.
It took me about 4 times to finally get it right and thank god i'm already bald. Now when I boot into kali and
then boot back into windows it hangs at the black screen with the windows log and doesn't go any further. I always
have to run startup repair and sometimes even have to roll back to last known good config. I haven't been able
to find anywhere what the issue could even be close to being. If you could please help in anyway you can or point
me to a place where i can find the answer.....Thank you so much for any help!!!!!
I have looked around on a number of other sites but haven't had any luck....
Sounds like you screwed something up in Windows when creating the partition for Kali
>>55660347
>installing kali on your HD
It's like you want to be backtraced after getting into the Gibson.
yes that is what it sounds like. I did it a couple of diffrenet ways and followed the instructions to the letter each time...
Graphics card stuck.
How do I remove this bitch. Pic related. It's stuck on one side, the side with the locking mechanism. I've removed the screws that connect the card to the case.
>>55660332
From another angle. That black thing is the only part stuck.
There is a clip that prevents it coming out at the rear of the slot. Press it and it will release it from the slot.
Pull the card out op
How advanced is the current cloning technology? How can we be sure all the "twins"we see walking down the street are really siblings, and not clones developed by secret research labs?
Also, would you clone yourself before you die and leave instruction videos for your new you to know everything you think he must know in life?
>>55660322
that quico...
>>55660322
How can we have twins if we only have one penis?
Very advanced. During WWII a ton of spooky shit went down with the nips and krouts especially regarding human biology. By now we should be able to grow babies with just a modified egg and sperm cell inside artificial wombs with relatively high success rate. The government can put all the red tape they want but somewhere out there is a sick fuck making custom humans and releasing them into orphanages and shit.

What does /g/ think about Erlang? I never see it here.
http://www.erlang.org/
> What is Erlang?
> Erlang is a programming language used to build massively scalable soft real-time systems with requirements on high availability. Some of its uses are in telecoms, banking, e-commerce, computer telephony and instant messaging. Erlang's runtime system has built-in support for concurrency, distribution and fault tolerance.

erlang sounds awesome as hell, but i thought elixir superceded it?
>>55660042
Elixer still uses the Erlang VM. It's the same platform with different syntax.
>>55660018
>I never see it here.
thats because...
>build massively scalable soft real-time systems with requirements on high availability.
is a niche, a small, complex and difficult one.
anyone in that niche could choose erlang but where are they going to find *experienced* erlang programmers?
yeah its a bit of a chicken and egg thing but the fact is if i'm doing that sort of work i can either hire n00b erlang programmers and train them (and who wants to be trained in a lang that hardly anyone uses?) or i can hire shit hot c++ programmers with 10years experience and we're good to go.

Man I wish you were an iPhonecuck. I really wanted to bully you.
I need a laptop for college, and right now I'm stuck on choosing between a Dell XPS13 and a Lenova Thinkpad X1 Carbon.
Both of the ones I'm looking at have i5s and are similar in most hardware, as I got a corporate discount code for the thinkpad, but I plant to get it with a 512 SSD for dualboot.
So basically which one would you choose or why trying to keep it close to $1000-$1100
for college I'd use a surface pro 3 desu senpai
What major are you going for?
>>55659805
I recomend the Samsung Galaxy S7
I'm really sorry to ask here but I need an answer asap.
First time poster on /g/
I have a shitbox store bought Dell PC. it's got an i5-2320 3.0 in it, I have no idea what motherboard.
A guy on Craigslist is selling a Asus strix 970 for $180.
How can I tell if this will work in my pc? I am completely computer illiterate and functionally retarded.
>>55659776
do you have an open PCI-E slot
does the wattage of your PSU comply with the graphics card
only 2 questions you need to ask yourself
>>55659776
open box
look at power box thingy (the psu)
see if it has around 500+ watts
>if it doesnt have more then 380w dont do et
>make sure theres returns on the buy so you dont get chinked.
and go from there.
i hope i dont have to teach u how to unscrew ur box eaither.
>>55659792
I have a 500w amp, a quick Google search says a standard system will need this.
I have a gtx 550ti from years ago in it, and I someone managed to make that work with this. Does that answer the pci-e question.
Like I said I'm computer illiterate and basically have no fucking clue what I'm doing.
So /g/ I'm going to be taking a few courses in course era for some programming languages and web development stuff while I take a mandatory break from my network engineering degree. Should I pay for these "certificates" to put on a resume I am currently working as a tier 1 internet help desk agent for a ISP. Would it be worth to get these "certificates" for the relevant tech experience or would I just be wasting money as opposed to the free course?
