okay I downloaded mpg123 but deadbeef still won't decode mp3s. wtf?
>>
>install first
>takes 5 seconds

>take 5 seconds

Less than 30 seconds and you would've discovered your answer.

that doesn't tell me anything about the quality of the decoding and from searching google mpg123 seems to be the best

Kek, it will be slow as shit
Find a laptop with a 500GB SSD, otherwise its just a waste of money
>>
>>55671383
ye im a noob to this havent had a laptop in years all input helps. thanks
>>
>>55671461
Yeah SSDs are really cheap nowadays so you can get a 500GB one for about $120/£130

The rest of the laptop seems great though, its just using a physical hard drive will slow shit down, we live in 2016 and they are no longer needed

If Google is using us to strengthen its image identification bot through the image captcha, then how does the captcha recognize that I picked the right images? If it already knows which images are trees or ice cream, what's the point of me doing it?
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Doesn't it, like the old letter chapta, give the same questions out to several users to validate?
>>
>>55670958
It's the same with the legacy captcha with words (only 1 word was known), 1 image in the set is not known, there are a few that are known
>>
They most likely don't use a binary decision, but rather calculate the probability of the picture showing a certain object. If it's pretty sure, but not absolutely sure (say, the probability of the picture showing a burger is 80%) you'll tell it whether or not it's a burger. Your decision can be used to improve the features used for the recognition, while false positives and negatives are offset by the large number of people who get it right.

/g/ i need a suggestion.

I had a Asus R9 390, it served me very well for a month i had it. Then it started crashing constantly and warranty refunded me. Now i am not sure what to buy with all this GPU hype lately.

Do i go with same R9 390 (but Sapphire this time) but 100€ cheaper than i originaly bought it for?

Or do i wait a bit and buy 1070? (would buy from amazon.de, goes for 494€ now, a bit expensive)

I would mainly be playing 1080p.

>>
If its 1080p, just get a RX480.

Literally same performance as R9 390 but cheaper/more energy efficient. You still get the benefit of async compute/free sync.

1070 is bit overkill for 1080p. RX480/GTX1060 maxes out 1080p
>>
>>55670970
For RX480 ill still have to wait for custom designs, not buying reference. I would be willing to pay 100€ more for 1070 thou because it would last me longer. Also i have a 4K TV so sometimes i would hook it up and maybe try some games on 4K medium settings.

I dont know, what would be the most sensible choice?

I've always had an NVidia card, but the benchmarks for the GTX 1060 are fishy at best.

Did NVidia pay these fucking shills?

Hello /g/

Like a retard I bought a new motherboard with that fits lga1150 chips, but my current cpu (i5 3470k) is lga1155.

Is it worth it to upgrade to an i7 4790k so it will fit, or should I ship the mobo back and look for something else?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>55670615
Ship it back.
>>
>>55670615
You'd get better value out of returning the motherboard and asking for an exchange and taking the money left over as a refund.
>>
>>55670632
>>55670667
Is the 4790k not that much of an upgrade from the 3470k?

Do you use a UPS? If so, on what?

I own like five of 'em. They're hooked up to just about everything PC-related in the house.

They show up at second-hand stores all the time for about ten bucks. People throw them out because "it dont work no more" when usually all they need is a new battery, available for less than $20 on Amazon.
>>
Yup, running a 1500VA unit for my desktop, monitors, and speakers. If power goes out I can watch 20-30 minutes of anime before the battery in the UPS goes out.
>>
I've had mine for nearly 8 years, battery is starting to wear down. I use it with my PC.

psu: antec eartchwatt 380w
crucial ssd 240gb
>>
>>55669941
I wouldn't run a Fermi housefire off a 380W PSU, but it's very unlikely to be the problem if you're getting no output at all. It'd buckle under load if it was a PSU issue.

I'm getting a free GTX 960 from a friend who is upgrading to a 1080, and I'm trying to put together a decent build around it. I'm due for an upgrade anyway; my laptop is over six years old.

I'm looking to spend about $900. How does this setup look?

I would rather have a i5 4690K and OC'd it to 4.3 Ghz. It would perform way better than a the 6600

Is there honestly any point in getting a 1070 at the moment? I can get an EVGA Superclocked 980Ti for about £80-£100 cheaper than what the decent non-reference 1070s are going for.

Is Nvidia Legacy gimping so bad that a 980Ti would become shit faster than a 1070? Is the 10 series at all more prepared than the 900 series to deal with the DX12 boogeyman?
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
1. There is no Nvidia gimping, that's just a myth made up by AMDtards.

2. The 1070 uses a lot less power and puts off a lot less heat.

3. Yes the 10 series is better at DX12
>>
>>55668893
4. extra memory useful for 1440p

I play games out of date and strategy games primarily, but my pc has been unable to keep up with some embarrassingly old games.
What kind of a gpu should I get on my long time comping upgrade considering I'm cheaper than a jewish hobo?

I'm thinking about a budget of 500$, what's my best bang for buck here? GTX960 or some AMD cheapness like the r9 380?
