What's the best chatbot that can resemble a friend that's always willing to chat it up?
Best as in consistent continuity in the replies.

Is it possible to get a near top of the line laptop just as good as a PC? What would I have to limit if I were to build/get one?
Of course I want to use this shit for playing vidya, that's why I'm asking.
>>55677268
You will always be able to buy/build a better desktop than laptop thanks to modularity.
That said, there are plenty of perfectly adequate gaming laptops. You just have to spend a bit more for discrete graphics, desktop grade CPU, higher RAM, and SSD.
>>55677295
Well let's say I have infinite money, don't care much at all about modularity, and don't want something gimicky or edgy like Razer. Preferably I'd build it myself. Then what?
>>55677268
>Is it possible to get a near top of the line laptop just as good as a PC?
If you mean as good as a top of the line desktop computer, no, absolutely not. This is impossible.
You also get a lot more power for your money with a desktop.
Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, eBay and similar sites.

I am a cheapo I go to used furniture stores and buy used wooden desks because they be the biggest. I resurface them and use them as my own.
This one I got for $16 and resurfaced it, now thinking of upgrading to something that actually have drawers. Give this one away to a family member or something.

ITT: God tier hardware that aged well
Yes the GTX 480 is a space heater, but if you bought one of those bitches in 2010, you've still got a better gaming machine than a console.
X58 and X79-chipset motherboards in general are still pretty decent if you pair them with overclockable Xeons,X5670 for X58 and E5 1650 for X79
Best card for when you're stationed in Siberia

I bought one recently lol. Does anyone know of a 1366 dual cpu mobo with sli so I can get another?
I'm involved in the development of an openssl engine. Prior to this project, i collected a lot of experience with the higher level functions of the openssl API. But god damn, the documentation for the low level operations is almost nonexistent.
Anyways, we mean to replace the ECDH algorithm with a new candidate. To keep it dynamic we chose to make it an engine. The ECDH replacement will be set with the ENGINE_set_ECDH function but I have no focking clue when this function will be called in the actual TLS process. Which brought me to this dark place.
Are any experienced openssl developers present who know how this clusterfuck works internally?
lol bro unless youre writing that shit in asm, its going to suck

You're looking to /g/ for advice on development involving a major FOSS project? Are you high?
Why hasn't the iPhone 5 been topped in terms of pure design? Is it the best looking smartphone ever made?
Technology went through a renaissance and everyone was doing ridiculous shit in design, skeumorphism as an example. That and every ass had access to design tools. Apple just beat everyone to minimalism and its really tough to make a rectangle made from metal with a solid color without looking like you're copying someone.

Are there any chances "smart" assistants are going to learn to hold conversations in languages more complicated than English? Like understanding 7 cases + gendered words + alternative sentence structures that sometimes can be radom? I like the idea but when I imagine talking to it, I see extreme difficulities for alrirythm designers. Are these issues addressed already or maybe tengeneers even have decisions?
>>55676863
>Are there any chances "smart" assistants are going to learn to hold conversations in languages more complicated than English?
In the nearest future I mean.
>>55676863
>radom
>alrirythm
>maybe tengeneers even have decisions?
I was going to say I expect to see conversational AI fairly soon, but now that I know we can't even teach English to kids, I'm less sure about AIs.
>>55676863
>I like the idea but when I imagine talking to it, I see extreme difficulities for alrirythm designers.
"smart" assistants won't be hardcoded for much longer, but rather machine-learning-based, making the language itself totally irrelevant.
Any language with enough published books to train a neural network on will be usable.
In retrospect, did Jobs pick the correct person to replace him?
i think tim cook will die from the same strain of hiv that killed steve jobs.
>>55677152
wrong he is not homo
>>55676842
Nope. He's been too safe. Jobs used to push Apple in both design and engineering. Now Cook has led Apple to be stagnant in both. He can't ride out Job's pipelined projects forever when he kicked the bucket.
How fucked is AMD if Zen is a big flop? I can't possibly be worse than Bulldozer, but I'm worried.
>>55676719
>How fucked is AMD if Zen is a big flop?
AMD is in every next-gen gaming console, hardware which sells far more units than PCs for any given year.
So, probably Not At All Fucked.
>>55676745
Yeah, they're fine. The OP really is low quality bait so that others can look ITT.
Also, Zen rumors
https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/ams-zen-engineering-sample-specs-leaked.html
Incredibly fucked. If enterprises don't like Zen, AMD is as good as dead.
>>55676745
Consoles have low profit margins. AMD is targeting enterprise first because that is where the money is.
I FREAKING LOVE EMACS!
Holy shit, this is amazing! I can literally watch my anime, compile LaTeX pdfs, read man pages, and work on C code all within this one program at the same fucking time! And I'm just getting into things too!
Have you tried vim?
>>55676710
>I can literally watch my anime, compile LaTeX pdfs, read man pages, and work on C code all within this one program at the same fucking time
Sounds like a terrible program.
Try using a text editor that was designed for text editing, not one that was designed for absolutely everything and doing a sub par job at all of them.
What are both used for? They're editors, so you edit code in them in which language, C?
>We now only will supply a Python 2.7 package (py2.7), Python 2.6 is unsupported so really needed to stop using it. So if you were using py2.6 when you upgrade your 3rd party plugins will disappear from the plugins list. You simply need to install the py2.7 versions, your plugin data is safe.
thanks for the update
They need to do python 3 already. We'll all be using IPv6 before python3 actually catches on
