So what grease do you guys use? I used to use only Arctic Silver 5 but recently I needed a tube of grease and didn't want to wait for shipping so I had to go look in stores. Ended up with a tube of this stuff, seems to be working just as well as AS5 and was actually a little cheaper, and it's harder to lose since the tubs isn't fucking TINY like AS5 is. The diamond dust meme is a little cringe though.

What about you guys? Anyone using the grease that came with their chip? How is it working out?

doesn't matter which brand, make sure to get thermal adhesive instead of paste as it's much less prone to trapping air inside of it and transfers heat better than conventional paste.

What's the actual difference, just the composition?

the thing that concerns me is firmware backdoors in bios/uefi, hard drives, usb keys and microsd cards. without easy ways to detect and remove those you are at the mercy of the nsa and anyone who copies their software.

what scares me most about that movie is that stuxnet, a $5 million cyberweapon with plc attack code, was in the wild and now has been partially decompiled then posted to a public github. everyone has access to that code now.

all the viruses and malware they produce, once used, will eventually fall into someone else's hands and can then be reused. cyberweapons don't burn out like kinetic weapons.

data scraping
You should really try it out.

steps to reproduce:
go to your local website where you get weather information.
Then look at the html document, see if there is some pattern.

Typically, there is a special id or attribute name for the field where the data you seek exist.

It shouldn't take you long to throw something together in bash (sed is a really neat tool for this)

I can't imagine anything I would hate more than being a SAP programmer and I would only do it if there were absolutely no other programming job available, but I guess from a job security point of view it's okay-ish.

Why do you hate it?

I don't know if I like it but it's maybe due to my own ignorance about other programming jobs. Although, from what I hear around here, they're saying that the pay is above average once I get good.

Is this actually true /g/?

Why install mint? Because you like the color green? Terrible.

Arch for main OS, emulate Kali if necessary, ubuntu for AWS instances (free tier).

Allright /g/ bro's.

I hope to get atleast a few decent answers out of the ridiculous fanboy fire between AMD and Nvidia.

I currently have a R9 280x, I used to switch between Nvidia and AMD when I bought a new GPU.
At the moment I'm actually very pleased with my 280x. It has aged well but I want to upgrade.

1) GTX 1080
I could buy it, but for the price point... it's too much. It'll be outdated in 6 months with a 1080Ti (or Vega).

2) GTX 1070
Same as above and are they on it again with 7.5 gb?

3) RX480
This seems like the first option that would be decent for me. If it can age like my 280x.. I would be very pleased.

4) GTX 1060
Same as the above. This seems like a sweet spot as well. But how will devs take advantage of DX12 / Async / Vulkan. I've seen benchmarks which favor the RX480 and others that give the advantege to the GTX 1060.

5) Wait for Vega

Everything would be aftermarket, because fuck Nvidia and fuck AMD and their reference designs.

In short:
>1080p gaming
> has to age well
> futureproof for DX12 / Vulkan /( Async??)

DX12 and Vulkan both require seperate render paths for their respective hardware vendors. So as long as developers spend the time to develop each render path, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem with whatever you pick.

AMD drivers have better maturity.
The 1070 and 1080 are overkill for 1080p gaming.
The 480 will probably give you better long term value, but that depends on when you plan to upgrade next.

> FEDS SEIZE KICKASSTORRENTS DOMAINS, ARREST OWNER

The U.S. Government has arrested the alleged owner of KickassTorrents, the world's largest torrent site. The 30-year-old Ukrainian was arrested in Poland today and is charged with criminal copyright infringement and money laundering. In addition, a federal court in Chicago has ordered the seizure of several KAT domain names.

Empire of KickassTorrents (KAT) has finally ended after U.S. authorities announced the arrest of the site’s alleged owner. The 30-year-old Artem Vaulin, from Ukraine, was arrested today in Poland from where the United States has requested his extradition.

In a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, the owner is charged with conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and two counts of criminal copyright infringement.

The complaint further reveals that the feds posed as an advertiser, which revealed a bank account associated with the site. It also shows that Apple handed over personal details of Vaulin after the investigator cross-referenced an IP-address used for an iTunes transaction with an IP-address that was used to login to KAT’s Facebook account.

It also shows that Apple handed over personal details of Vaulin after the investigator cross-referenced an IP-address used for an iTunes transaction.

Commenting on the announcement, Assistant Attorney General Caldwell said that KickassTorrents helped to distribute over $1 billion in pirated files.

“Vaulin is charged with running today’s most visited illegal file-sharing website, responsible for unlawfully distributing well over $1 billion of copyrighted materials.”

“In an effort to evade law enforcement, Vaulin allegedly relied on servers located in countries around the world and moved his domains due to repeated seizures and civil lawsuits. His arrest in Poland, however, demonstrates again that cybercriminals can run, but they cannot hide from justice.”

The concept isn't new by any means, meshnet type distribution and the like have been theorized (and technically possible) for decades.

It runs pretty well for what it is, from what I can see, and seems to have TOR integration if that's your thing.
