Looking to upgrade my PC pretty soon and need some opinions on what the most cost effective, significant boost would be. Here are the specs.
AMD FX-6300 3.5ghz
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (EVGA)

You might as well wait for the new AMD processors unless you wanna buy a whole new motherboard and CPU to make the switch to Intel.
>>55692544
wait for zen and vega.
buy a boat
holy shit lads!
i literally just called my internet provider, threatening them to cancel my services, and they literally cut my price in half.
im literally paying $46.87 a month now for 250Mbps for an entire 2 years. take advantage of this my fellow neet bros
>>55692541
It literally costs them almost nothing to provide people with internet. If anything this should make you angry.
>>55692541
I can't do that I have a contract with my ISP.
I"ve tried this twice now and the pajeet on the other end has called my bluff straight away.
If you don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, consider upgrading temporally, (you get the free Activation for Windows 10 in the future), then you can roll-back to your previous version of Windows (this is within the 30 days after upgrading to Windows 10).
Thanks, but I already upgraded to Ubuntu GNU/Linux.
It's pretty cool, you should try it too!

15 rupees have been added into your account Pajeet.
Microsoft sunk to the level of an un-signed rapper. People rejecting it even if it's free.
Was UNIX actually good or is that just a linux/BSD meme? Pic related.
>>55692443
Unix was good. Solaris, Irix, HPUX, these were / are decent. Not so much for just their software, but also because of the hardware they ran on.
>>55692443
Unix was good. It had its faults but most of those were the stuff that was tacked on later, like sockets and Xorg.

What exactly was good about it? The simplicity? The file organization?
How do you organize your emails?
I have so many emails and I need to keep them organized; updates, promos, newsletters, personal emails, Stack Exchange digests, social media updates, newsgroup updates, financials, Pizza deals, etc.
How do I get on top of my emails and not have my emails on top of me?
I have a mail for shit that will fill my inbox with spam
There's no junk in my main one
Jewgle inbox does pretty damn well

I'm using both in different PCs and would recommend either.

For the last year I have been using Arch gnu/linux as my daily driver, but recently, I've grown sick of there always being something broken, like nothing I do 'just werks' and I always have to open up the wiki, or use google, to do practically anything new. Personally I do not have anything against fixing stuff up, and working to get stuff to work, but the simple fact is that I need to get work done. So I have decided that I am going to switch to debian, what important stuff do I need to know to get going, I have some experience with debian, and I know the basics of aptitude, but is there some more unique things I should know about, thanks in advance!
Building from source. Installing newer kernels. Shaving your neckbeard
>>55692291
I have experience with both of those, but if I shave my neckbeard, I might get cold during winter, so I'll just let it keep growing. Thanks for the response!
>>55692265
yeah, there's 3 versions of debian. there's stable, testing and unstable. stable is well...stable, but there are some old packages in there. if you want maximum stability and don't mind working with older versions of software then yeah stable all the way.
unstable might be the closest thing to arch. i think packages just come in when they please. i never actually used unstable, but be prepared for broken packages.
testing is the medium of the two and is what i run. look into the release/freeze schedule. there 's a period when all packages are frozen to prepare for the next release.
Are there any reputable 3 inch USB C cables available? I can't find any!
>>55692136
I got a 3 inch cable if you know what I'm sayin.

What's the best laptops for note taking?
I know that using a pen and paper is better, but I have a motor issue so even math shit is hard with my hands.
>>55692067
Don't lie OP, you don't have motor skill issues with your hands... you're just too fucking lazy to pick up a pen and paper and physically write shit down you n33t.

Because for all of pornhub's obnoxious attempts at seeming cool and hip (XDDD ESPORTS SPONSORSHIPS GUIZEE), porn is still shady as absolute fuck
I'm considering switching from my 2013 rMBP 13" to a Thinkpad W520 and I have a few questions. Has anyone had any experience installing Linux on this? How friendly is the hardware for that?
Also, is the screen any good? I can handle a lower resolution (I actually prefer 1080p) but I'm worried the color will be really bad, like most cheap laptops. Is this the case?
>>55691820
I have a T500, not a W520, but you oughta be fine. Part of the reason thinkpads of that era are liked is that Linux generally just werks. Only thing I had that didn't just werk was the SD card reader. Big deal, I bought a USB one.
I think the screen is fine in terms of color, but idk how picky you are about that, I'm not.
>>55691820
>but I'm worried the color will be really bad
If you're coming from a memebook you can only go up.
I have a w520. Thinkpads, especially non skylake models are very friendly when it comes to installing linux. As far as the screen, Thinkpads are generally known for having mediocre screens, but coming from a ips Dell ultrasharp to the w520 it wasn't that bad at all. The w520 1080p screen actually has slightly better color accuracy and viewing angles that its t420 counterpart.
Is protonmail good for a encrypted email service?
What about tutanota?
What secure email are you using?
Tutanota or Proton?
>>55691701
Using Protonmail as it is pretty good, but Tutanota is new to me. Cheaper too.
i use proton, waiting for the iOS app, might donate just to get it
