I know /g/ hates Gnome, but can we all agree it's come a very long way?
Gnome may be the only aesthetically pleasing and usable DE that Linux has to offer.
Gnome 3 is great. Fuck the others.
If you can't embrace change, then you don't get what Linux development or technology in general are about.
I started with an old KDE in 2002 (Mandrake Linux) and thought the customizability was cool but Gnome 3 is all I'll use now. It came with Kali 2.0 and impressed the shit out of me.

KDE is too confusing, /g/ only shills it because it reminds them of Windows 7 that they have dualbooted on their HDD.

Will I make a huge mistake switching from a stock android phone to an iphone? What will I miss? What will I gain? Honestly like the very small form factor and extreme power of the SE, but it sucks balls for media content I guess, but I do all that jazz on my pc/4k tv. Just tired of all the small patches, general lagginess and bugginess of android, and need a great back camera. Please hold me /g/
iPhones are locked down pieces of shit. Don't do it.
>>55706707
But I dont use any apps anymore... I just use whatsapp and browse some shit, take pics, and listen to youtube. Dont even listen to music... Fuck me, Im becoming such a consumerist sheep
I don't get all this "muh lag" meme
Really, even the shittiest phone can be good enough at being a phone.
If you can't handle that frameskip when swiping through your app drawer and consider spending an huge amount of money for overpriced garbage for an iPhone, do it

Is PC-BSD well documented? Can I use it like I can use Ubuntu?
>>55706438
I mean for using daily tasks, ubuntu makes it easy. Like enabling dnscrypt:#Install the dnscrypt package
sudo add-apt-repository pa:anton+/dnscrypt && sudo apt update && sudo apt install dnscrypt-proxy;
#Change your DNS server to 127.0.0.2 from your network manager
#Restart Network Manager
sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager
#done
Just switch to Linux already

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

For a bit of a laugh, we will together forge an epic email to send to Stallman, here are the rules. Each person can post 3 words or less, and they will be put into an email. Once the email is complete, the one with the highest get will have to send Richard the email with his main account and be proud of it. I will begin:
