Hello /g/. How do I learn VBA in one day?
Assuming I know Haskell, Java and MATLAB.
At my summer job they asked me if I could develop a simple program in Excel, where you can make a technical drawing, and that returns a list with all the elements you've used.
Install brandy and learn BBC basic instead

>Haskell, Java and MATLAB.
Jesus, just go out back and shoot yourself.
>>55720389
what do you want to know?
ITT: Tech that was really outstanding for its time.
I'll start. The i5 2500k came out in 2011 and is still useful today, 5 years later.
More so, the Phenom II X6 came out in 2009 and whilst it bottlenecks, it still performs quite well considering its age.
The GTX480, whilst it had it's flaws (housefire meme etc) it holds up pretty well considering its 6 years old.
The 5870 is another GPU that held up quite well.
Please feel free to add your own examples.

What gpu and gpu could i add to this list to keep it under $300 or in the low$300's

low $300's is okay it doesnt have to be under $300

They fucked it up. Xubuntu officially shit-tier from 16.04. Can't believe they put out this half-baked shit.

Then why are you using linux at all?
>have Samsung S5
>back in February phone goes dead and gets stuck in bootloop
>try everything to get it to work
>still in bootloop
>thought it was a hardware issue and gave up
>bought a new phone
>randomly decided to grab it from under my desk just now and switch it on
>it's now working perfectly again
How? I don't understand.
>>55720285
You bought a new phone you weren't planning on spending money on right? And you still don't understand?
>>55720314
What do you mean?
>>55720285
It's called jealousy.
Your old phone wanted to outperform the new phone.
If I have a Sim card on my phone with an unlimited data plan (Metropcs) can I put that same sim in a tablet or some other phone and use the data or do I need to register the device for the sim to work?
My question is does the sim operate on it's own and doesn't care what it's powering or is a sim card tied to a specific device?
>>55720248
I dunno man, I've put my sim in a bunch of other devices and it works fine in all of them.
>>55720248
SIMs are not device-bound, you won't have problems.
>>55720248
your device might be sim bound however
ITT: memes you almost fell for
Pic related. Almost bought this thing on release date but somehow I instinctively felt that Nvidia would comeback strong with a better deal and today I finally ordered my new GTX 1060. Couldn't be happier.

Better than aero and whatever those linux fags put out.

Because ads are cool now.
Which GPU currently has the best price:performance ratio at this time, jokes about the five finger discount aside?
A GTX 285 cost just over £300 years back, I paid a similar price for a 770 in 2013, but currently the 1070 is £400 with a stock blower.
inb4 >hurr durr shill fanboy
I'm willing to try a Radeon. This really is just about price:performance ratio. A reasonably-priced upgrade is still a reasonably-priced upgrade.
It seems to be a combination of inflation, greed, or even that the lower end of the market is advancing faster than before, making the higher end of things relatively more high end than before. Please pardon my clumsy phrasing.
Context: this replacement is on account of hardware failure caused by medication-induced spaghetti in 2013. (Mostly) mixed my head since, now I want to fix my computer.
Help a guy out? Free discussion on the topic aside from directy recs/advice is entirely welcome, just please keep it civil.
>>55719687
RX 480 4gb has the current best price to performance ratio. However it is a very new card and is not in stock at the moment, I would wait a ,month or two for general availability.
Any iGPU.

No, the gtx 1060 now
Hi, /g/
let's see which programming language is the most profitable, also a thread for fetus programmers that are in doubt what to learn!

assembly, because that's what hacks are written in
Guys fag here. I have pic related as my GPU and one of my friends suggested to upgrade to Crimson 16.3.2 for some performance gainz (I was still using Catalyst because it just werks™®).
So I did but now from time to time my screen would just go black while the sound and so on would keep playing. Also my GPU utilization wouldn't go above 98% no matter what I do. I figured I would try here first because I am too lazy to register on AMD forums.

I have an excuse, and it's name is Safari.
I don't see any Euclidion thread in the catalog, so, /g/, what do you think about them? They claim they compress LiDAR data to 5-20% of it's original size, run and interact with models of unlimited size, reduce loading times to seconds for any size data model, and so many other things. On top of that they announced they are opening Holoverse, holographic game rooms, with real holograms. I don't even know what to say, my mind is blown. How the hell are they doing it? Stolen alien technology? They have a time machine and brought tech from the future? Help from lower planes (demons etc.) or what? I just want to visit them to see if it's even real, or if it's just one giant hoax, but it doesn't appear to be one. And the guy in the presentation is so cheerful, he's creeping me out a bit.

I just want to understand... How?
Shameless bump
don't know anything about their new hologram scam but their "unlimited detail" voxel shit was just a bunch of twisted facts to make something normal sound impressive
5-20% compression is a normal figure for compressing any data
you can already interact with worlds of unlimited size with no loading times, provided they are completely static
nothing they do with voxels is impressive in any way, it's barely even useful, people settled on polygons because they're the most efficent and if you ever want to move or manipulate voxel data to make something animated you're going to need some mathematical shortcuts like polygons anyway
it's a scam.
good luck animating voxels.
Not trying to start a flame war or anything.
I'm honestly curious how systemd "creeping features" compare with alternatives, e.g. the machinectl shell and systemd-boot.
I have experience with networkd and it seems fine, but I don't really have an in-depth basis for comparison.
I'm also curious whether the criticisms in http://blog.darknedgy.net/technology/2015/10/11/0/ are important and/or can be resolved.
no tinfoil pls
In general the systemd components are better. They're modern, leverage powerful building blocks from the rest of systemd, and learn from the mistakes of previous attempts at those tools.
The issue that non-trolls have with systemd is that we'll grow too dependent on these currently good tools and at some point past that they stop being good and start being bloated and we have no way to drop them without dropping everything
Most of the extremely long writeups, especially anything that mentions "binary logging" or "non-modular", are generally not worth the time to read and are written by people who know very little about systemd because they refuse to use it (or use it exclusively in the way that their preferred distro ships it and are entirely unaware of upstream options)

>The issue that non-trolls have with systemd is that we'll grow too dependent on these currently good tools and at some point past that they stop being good and start being bloated and we have no way to drop them without dropping everything
Can't they just be refactored/replaced? "We might have to fix it in 5 years" doesn't seem that bad...
I think the writeup I linked to is the opposite of that.
>>55719549
>Can't they just be refactored/replaced?
By a fork, sure. Good luck just suddenly switching all the infrastructure and users to a less bloated fork if systemd starts getting too fat.
In reality it's probably not an issue. The systemd developers are pretty competent and the quality of their software that's convinced almost every distro to rapidly switch to it shows that. But it's what some critics are worried about regardless.
>I think the writeup I linked to is the opposite of that.
The writeup you linked is notoriously not the opposite of that, and is actually exactly that but with a ton of disclaimers and promises that it totally isn't that. The arguments in that article all boil down to:
- Complaints about non-issues
- Complaints about downstream configurations (not systemd issues)
- Appeals to philosophical puritanism that have evidence against them and aren't causing problems
All wrapped up in a bunch of fluff and raised hands
>talking with friends about upgrading
>tell them "I'm still on the 480"
>"oh, when did you switch to AMD?"
