>why is every phone exactly 5.5" now ?
Every phone?
Even the iPhone 5SE?
>>55725004
Mine is 3''
It's the current ideal size.
ZTE Axon here, 5.5". It's usable with one hand, and it's not too small. Perfect.
What does /g/ think of this degree? https://www.unsw.adfa.edu.au/degree/postgraduate-coursework/master-cyber-security-8628
I'm newly enrolled and have done a one week intensive study period and the practicals involved only the very basics of a few tools in Kali Linux. Thinking about dropping out and self-studying for the OSCP instead, before I get myself AUD$35k in student debt. Not currently working in the field but looking to break in.
Thoughts? Other recommended certs?
cybersecutiy is a meme degree and you won't be entering the field as anything higher than a helpdesk monkey.
Security is built upon a sold base of networking. Go CCENT -> CCNA and try to get a NOC gig to pay for it. After 2-4 years your degree will be relevant enough that you can enter a security role.
>>55724971
What's "NOC gig"? What's a gig?
Why is this application such a faggot
>>55724889
Pretty sure it's because it only shows I guess "applications" not "packages"? I'm pretty sure I'm saying it wrong but I think you get it?
>>55724889
>he installed Linux to use Windows software
nigger what the fuck?
>>55724889
Since you're dumb the application is doing what it needs to do. Install PlayonLinux
We always have threads asking about how to hack x thing, let's have now a computer security thread, how does one avoid getting hacked/cracked, any recommended lectures/tutorials? i'm looking for security in email servers and webpages, but other types of tutorials are welcome too
'pentesting' is the search term you're looking for
>>55724776
This is really no longer a thing. Most sites these days are pretty secure now that the internet has has 20 years to mature. Most "hacks" are just social engineering which any 14 yr old can do.
>>55724806
>>55724833
well fuck, besides using fail2ban, encryption, HTTPS and similar, is there something else to add? i've heard about the securing debian manual but what other books are also a good read regarding security? i looked at the /g/ wiki but it doesn't go that deep when it comes to security, just apps, that's why i'm asking

microsoft consumer support is terrible
Howdy, /g/. I'm on a tight budget and I can only buy a motherboard and a processor and a RAM.
Which AMD APU would you recommend? I do basic stuff (mostly programming but I'd like to venture into OpenGL, but I don't want to have limitations in terms of graphics.

Whats your buget?
Hi /g/, I have a desktop and a laptop I'm looking to sell as they don't get much use anymore, but have no experience selling used computers.
How should I price these computers? I know I won't get a ton for them, but maybe there's some sort of percentage of retail price used computers go for?
Desktop:
Core i7 4770K
Asus Maximus VI Hero
16 GB DDR3 Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780
500GB Samsung SSD
Full noctua fans, CPU waterblock, Fractal case.
BenQ XL2720Z, was going to sell separately but maybe including a display increases the price significantly?
Laptop:
Core i7 2630QM
12GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M
500GB shitdrive
1080p Matte display that I upgraded from default shit one.
Was probably just going to try craigslist and maybe local facebook buy/sell. Any tips on pricing or selling would be great.
>>55724638
~400$ for the desktop
same for the laptop
What currency?
AUD:
Desktop $2,000 (negotiable, take 1600+ but aim for 1800)
Laptop $800 (negotiable, take 700+)
>>55725240
I think I'll aim for CAD
1,800 Desktop
550 Laptop
try to get quick sales. thanks for the reply
I have a dream of a small computer that only does torrenting & I can VPN to for streaming when I'm at school. Have you guys set this up before & for how much?

Raspberry Pi 3?
I use an old laptop running CentOS with PLEX and rtorrent which I can access from wherever.
>>55724617
Raspberry Pi. Works great if you have a decent internet connection (Up and Down).
Greetings /g/. I managed to befriend a wealthy person who was was giving away there old PC. It's an i7 960 with 12gb or RAM.
Is a 960 still pretty good for today's use as a virtualization box?
x58 sabertooth board, 500w power supply, no video or HDD.
Clock it @4.3GHz and enjoy e the power. This CPU still rocks.
Hey, look into getting an Intel Xeon CPU for that motherboard. X5650 if I recall correctly, check Wikipedia. Same socket and it's got 6 cores, you can find them pretty cheap on eBay, also overclockable. I also don't remember how many cores i7 960 has but probably 4, so it's quite an upgrade.
>>55724838
the power consumption is genuinely horrifying though, 400-500w if you want to run it at 4GHz+.
Hey /g/. Got a fresh S7 from my mum who's douchenozzle meat package is out of the picture. We're trying to bypass the FRP, but sharing anything from the Privacy Policy only results in
>All apps associated with this action have been turned off, blocked, or are not installed.
What can we do to bypass this? Douchenozzle won't give us the password to his email
>>55724511
Flash TWRP. Install Custom ROM and Custom Kernel (Optional but recommended). Done.
>>55724511
give it back, tyrone.
>>55724543

What does /g/ think of external laptop graphics?
Overpriced and useless.
>>55724499
I like the concept because it's the logical conclusion of my current set up where I have a powerful desktop and a laptop with a decent CPU and integrated graphics. However current solutions aren't quite where I need them to be.
>>55724499
Neat for very specific purposes. Most people will hate on them but it's no different then accessories like external hard-drives and external cooling.
However, anyone wanting a full sized GPU should not be using a laptop haha.
Hello /g/, after a wave of nostalgia I started trying to install some of my favorite childhood games. However, because I am running windows 10 very few of them will work, even with compatibility settings applied. My question is, would it be possible to build a decent windows xp gaming pc for around $350? Although the games would demand much less performance, many of the modern video cards and components won't work with xp. Any ideas on a workaround?
>tldr; Make a XP gaming rig for less than $350
google "best video cards of 2009" into google
buy it on ebay for $20
buy a used computer for $50
don't spend over $100, retard.
>>55724288
Use virtual machines. Configure them good for your needs.
buy a used government workstation. Probs still has xp installed
Google is US based - better ones? Norway? Russia?
hello. TOR is calling
there? dont know.
http://beebom.com/best-dns-servers/
>>55724261
You are a retard if you're solving your DNS queries through Tor (no, it's not even "TOR" dumbass; even the site says it in the FAQ). The exit node could easily tamper with your DNS queries to redirect your traffic. It's literally one of the few things that you shouldn't do with Tor if you don't want to get hacked and you thought it was a good idea; retard.
