Who else here is waiting for the Singularity to happen?
I mean, everything right now seems so dull. It's like you've seen it all, nothing really impress you anymore. Computational advances are getting slower and slower every year.
So, how long do you think we'll have to wait for the true HAPPENING?
It won't happen.
I'm not sure "The Singularity" is even a meaningful concept.
>>55727343
It's probably going to happen sooner or later, just not during our life time.
I'd say 100-200 years
Go learn some zen. It will blow your mind. One day you wake up and realize there is a hidden depth & kindness to the world that you had no fucking clue about. Thinks you think you knew -- zero clue.
We live in a world where terminal emulators are written in javascript.

Wow, a terminal emulator for a computer I don't have access to. That's like being able to work on the engine of a car I'll never drive, and it's a fake engine. The future is awesome.
Wanting to upgrade my GPU from 1gb 6950 to something slightly newer without upgrading my cpu.

I just picked up a GTX 770 for $65. How did I do /g/?
>tfw i hardly play video games anymore anyways
If you rarely play games then it'll be fine. You should be able to play most things at 1080p with a few things turned off at at least 30fps.
>>55727021
well that's good to know. i'm upgrading from a GT 740. most demanding things i'll be playing are probably fallout 4 and gta 5
>>55727096
Yep, they'll both be fine at 1080p. From searching there's guides out there on how to get both running at high or ultra on the 770. Just makesure you have enough CPU and RAM that they're not holding you back.

as far as portrayal of technology goes it appeal to the broadest niche audiences, if you have a clue you'll spot an awful lot of stuff that doesn't make sense
SJW nonsense. Couldn't even finish the first episode. In other words, accurate representation of the tech industry.
Cringey TV series.

How do we Make Software Free Again?
>>55726598
We build a wall and make the jews pay for it.
>>55726598
1. Petition big software companies to port their software to Linux.
2. Linux becomes popular because it's free and it doesn't keep people from using their software
3. More people develop free software.
>>55727283
>1. Petition big software companies to port their software to Linux.
That doesn't necessarily make the company release their source under the GPL.
GNU/Linux would get a few more people then but those would also write prorprietary software for it because they still don't know about free software.
Ubuntu is fucking dead.
>broken updates every time
>good luck switching DEs

It used to be my favorite, but it's just broken "Dude #1 lmao" shitware now. Antergos installing now, I'll weed it down to desktop Arch from there. Fuck you, Canonical you gave me the autism
Okay.
>>55726385
>Ubuntu is fucking dead.
>>good luck switching DEs
when is this not a problem? it's damn near impossible to remove gnome on stock fedora and an incredible amount of work to install anything but kde/xfce and getting it working correctly and I'd imagine the same is true for any distro that ships with a default DE
>>55726385
TDE just works when switching from Xfce anon.

Sell your 5X when the new one comes out or is about to. Why sell prematurely?
Is it possible to make tablets productive machines? Like Google is trying to push their blend of ChromeOS/Android and Apple is trying to push iOS on the ipad pro.
What is keeping it from working?
I thought the Pixel C was great until the wireless shit out and I had to return it.
>>55726276
To follow up to this tablets keep getting more and more powerful CPUs but I just don't see what for. Like Apple advertises how super powerful their A9X chip is and how much you can do with it but there's like no fucking programs that use even 30% of it and yet they are coming out with an even stronger CPU. What's the point?
>>55726329
>Like Apple advertises how super powerful their A9X chip is
Marketing to convince the masses that their new model is worth it. It's kind of sad that it actually works.
