how do you find out the version of an installed shared .so library?
>>55728109
Have you tried opening it in a text editor ?
>>55728117

>>55728109
ldconfig -p | grep libWhatEver
What does /g/ use for file compression? I'm finally building a home media server, but I'm very quickly going to start needing to compress the 1080p blu ray rips that are 40+GB. I'd like to keep the quality as much as possible while getting a modest size reduction

So W10 gets your computer's fingerprints, etc.
Microsoft will know that 'this guy used a pirated Windows 7 before'.
Are they going to fuck shit up even though you went legit?
>>55727967
Technically you never really go legit from a cracked copy of 10. Sure, it installs and runs fine but if it knows its not genuine originally it's not going to be activated or some shit like that.
link onion hackbb and 7chan?
Well those certainly are words, OP.
> 1 year old Li-ion 18650 battery in charger (no insulation cover)
> Starts making fumes and sputtering out acid
> quickly take it off charger, pick it up with towel and take it outside
> 30 min later battery is still hot and smells
> google is not helping
What do /g/, is this thing going to blow up? Should I just put it in a container? How do I throw this thing away without possibly injuring someone with battery acid?
Bury it and deal with it later

I'm looking to build a moderately cheap gaming PC for around $600 ~ $700 that can run most modern and upcoming games on the highest settings possible while still being playable
>r/buildapc didn't help with shit
>pcpartpicker link to a build I'm thinking of making; http://pcpartpicker.com/list/RWdCLD
>am already good when it comes to the OS, monitor (sort've), keyboard and mouse
>kinda new to all of this

Getting my s2 back from my one friend (GT-i9100P, I think 4.1 or 4.2 JB), what's the best way to root it? Also a useful/simple custom ROM recommendation, I'm new to all this
>>55727336
I want my S2 back ;_;
To root it, you can install a custom kernel via ODIN, or more simply, flash a custom temporary clockwork recovery via the stock one. Then with your new recovery replace the stock ROM with CyanogenMod.

Pretty much this.
sup /g/, I want to learn some lisp. SICP uses scheme, so I was considering that, but Clojure seems more useful overall. How similar are they?
Just use any lisp dialect. Clojure isn't really a lisp. Scheme is nice.
Can TTF files contain malware? Is it safe to just download fonts from some random free font website?
>>55727140
Yes they are safe especially the .exe ones

It seems like privacy focused software and services are redundant considering the amount of spying ISP's already do. Is there any method to circumvent this?
>>55727137
Alternative DNS providers (OpenNIC) or Tor
>>55727137
I don't think you know what redundant means.

Long story short, I just switched from an iPhone 6 to a Samsung Galaxy S7 earlier today. It's sitting on my desk right now, importing my texts. I've never used an Android phone and figured /g/ would be the best place to ask. Where the hell do I start? Why do I have three different music players? To root or not to root? Pls send help.

Android is actually better than iOS.
>>55726955
I'm not here to argue iOS vs. Android, I'm just wondering what the first things I should do on an Android device are. I've owned nothing but iPhones due to having an iPod Touch way back in middle school so I'm completely lost.
>samsung
good luck with that
So how is the ARM front advancing?
Nvidia doesn't release that often by they always are pioneers when it comes to ARM chipsets with great CPUs and a mobile GPU that cannot be beat.
Qualcomm feels like they've been lagging, Exynos has been doing decent but could be better.
Mediatek has been ok, shit GPUs though.
I'm fairly hyped for Tegra Parker, which will have a pascal based GPU.
The old X1 is always powerful enough for Gamecube/Wii emulation, Parker should push no boundaries for mobile gaming.

In terms of servers/workstations arm is dead in the water. The cavium thunderx consumes as much as an x86 but performs worse.
Hey anons! it's possible to download a new version of android by yourself? i own a samsung galaxy trend plus s7580 with 4.2 and want 4.4 in order to play pokemon global offensive
Samsung doesn't give a shit about old phones so no automatic 4.4 for me
>>55726371
Short answer yes, but the specifics are tricky. Custom ROMs and all that. Try google. I hear it has some answers.
Hey /g/, what is the best video editor? I am ready to become a wizard level meme lord.

What are the two cords on the left?
For a roomba hack kit
Upper one is a USB-A to USB-B cable, version 2.0, the type commonly used for printers and external 3.5" HDDs.
The lower one might be some type of coax, cinch or power cord.
it's a usb line, I'll show you later
>>55726244
You're too new to recognize a standard USB cable.....
The other is a power cord.
