I wanted to get one to put inside a coffee table near my couch and use it as a weird gesture remote for a HTPC and other stuff It seems it doesn't work that good unless you are on top of it like a keyboard.

The Nexus 5X could have easily been that had it put in a microsd slot in similar design to the nanosim slot, shuffle some things around internally to make it fit, I'm sure the only reason they didn't was because they decided to go for the unipiece design for muh thinness or to make more shecklebucks
It's also sad to note that the next Nexus design by HTC appears to omit the sdcard slot as well, making a 3 year dryspell for expandable memory in the Nexus line which probably means either the end of expandable memory for good (since Google is getting more involved in the design process) or the hopeful push for larger memory formats coming standard (64,128 GB instead of 16,32GB), the latter being kinda doubtful for the next iteration

How does macbook throttle so hard? I've had my vaio running at 3.2ghz(35w) for 30 minutes now. Temps get to 80 degrees, it drops to 0.8ghz, then climbs back up to 3.2ghz. It manages to maintain 3.2ghz for a few minutes before dropping each time. And this is with a single fan that sounds like a jet engine and a tiny heatsink. Macbooks have 2 fans, 2 heatsinks, and a massive(for a laptop) heatpipe.
My friend has a macbook pro he got for music production and it throttles so bad he stopped trying to use it for professional work and just uses it for basic word processing and web browsing. I helped him build a midrange desktop (e3 1231 + gtx 960) instead which handles the work so much easier.

Can only be described as a design fault and not a hardware issue that can be fixed.
Seen a few unusual cases of these and always had to return as no failure found and that are usually the 15" MacBook Pro Retinas which come in for the issue.
Issue is usually described as thermal throttling when gaymin.
Would probably have to heavily modify the thermal system on the MacBook to get around the throttling issue (not recommended) and would be much better to get a PC instead.

Just figured out how to turn off Secure Boot a year after I dualbooted Mint with Windows 10, meaning I can now access Windows again.
Holy fuck its clunky and slow compared to Linux.
I'd like to keep it and learn more about it, but I'd also prefer to reduce the botnet as much as humanly possible.
Any good debotnetting guides for Windows 10 around?

I finished my EE degree last year and I've still never actually had to plan a PCB. Everything we did in our labwork was always on a dedicated board already, or was breadboard-prototyped (or multisim).
Now I'm wanting to work on a few custom projects for the hell of it, but I know once I get past the planning stage, I'd like it to be on somethign a little more elegant than a breadboard, so what are some good and/or free programs you would personally recommend for laying out PCB's? While on the subject, same thing for where to order them from, any personal recommendations and preferences welcome.

Why the fuck are so many high-end TV's curved? you need to be dead-center and at a specific length to even feel the (pathetically shallow) effect, and its gonna be distorted for anyone sitting a couple of feet away.
