why does "fast C++" need months to optimize and always starts with a bunch of #include <c...> lines and java which is pretty fast is just java anyone would write quickly in production ?

What are downs of a Samsung S7?

- Touchjizz
- Knox

Other than that, I cannot think of any?

I need a smartphone which I can root, and then proceed with downloading 3rd party software (not google store) on it and using it.

I also want to cut of the spying activities of all the apps, but still use it.

>I need a smartphone which I can root, and then proceed with downloading 3rd party software (not google store) on it and using it.

Pretty much every phone can do that. But samsung phones specifically are harder to root because of knox and how locked down they are.

touchwiz aside, it's a good phone. absolutely over priced, annoyingly locked down, but a good phone. there are other options if those are your main goals.

Okay.

I have been using Windows 7 for years, and I've loved every second of it. "The definitive Windows experience!" I tell people. "You can't beat it!" I'd shout. "Don't upgrade to 8! It's trash!"

Then, I got a new laptop with Windows 8 (and later 8.1) and I discovered I was right. I hated 8 very much. It was too gimmicky and wasn't as sleek and clean as 7, nor did it operate the way I wanted it to. Felt very... wrong. So I continued to stick with 7.

Then, 10 rolls around and I'm like "Oh-ho, no sir - not falling for that bullshit again. I'm fine with 7, thank you."

Well, now, I'm visiting my parents for the weekend and my mom has a new Windows 10 computer, from which I am typing on right now. I made an account, singed it, and am working a bit with it... and I kind of love it. Granted, I'm not really installing any software, and I've only been on it a couple hours, but it's really pretty nice. I know I missed the "free update" deadline (which I'm not so sure I could get anyway - I kind of pirated Windows 7. In fact, I don't think I've paid for Windows since.... damn, XP. I'd be willing to pay for 10, though.

Shoot me straight, though. Is it more than a pretty face? Are there underlying inferiorities to 7 I'm just not seeing because of this alluring coat of paint? What about software restrictions? I have a lot of Steam games and software (that... I pirated throughout the years...) that I want to work on my computer, and I want it to work if I upgrade.

Also I heard something about Obama spying on me or some shit, I dunno - any merit to that?

One more thing - is the "subscription based" Windows really gonna happen soon? If so, that is... awful.

Opinions? I know yall got lots of those.

Have to move to naziland for 2 years(from Russia). Need a laptop.

Initial choice was t460s, but turns out it has unbelievably shitty autonomous life(5 hours tops), dim display and relatively high probability of a defective keyboard/trackpoint.

Another choice is X1 Carbon, which is less sturdy, has absolutely no options for upgrading along the way and no option for a non-backlit keyboard.

Both are pretty much the same: 6600U Cpu, 16Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD and 2560x1440 IPS screen. Both have relatively lacking gpu (hd instead of iris).

Will use for latex, browsing, 10-bit anime and occasional coding. All that on Linux.

I will not be able to return or replace the laptop once I've got it, so I'd really appreciate your input.

My previous laptop was t530, but the mobo died after some water got on the keyboard, so I don't care for drainage pipes.

Nvidia's already finalizing/settling/paying for the multi-million dollar class action lawsuit because of it.

But hey, enjoy your cheaper 970 I guess, and make sure you buy nvidia again so you can maybe profit a little more off the next class action lawsuit when they scam you.

Yeah, it's a nice card, but flaved nonetheless.
Set textures to Ultra High in GTA 5 (just example) and your video memory usages goes over 3500MB and the FPS goes dropping down.
While the same performance Radeon only has a few frames dropped because of the higher texture size.

A Nexus 5 is a solid choice, but they have pretty awful battery and $250 could get you a Nexus 5X if you settle for less storage.
A OnePlus One is also a good option. Lots of storage. Decent battery. Still usable as a smartphone.

What do you guys think is the best programming language to start with as a beginner? I've heard Python, but I've also heard beginners should start with something more complicated like C++ as it will make them better in the long run.

>What do you guys think is the best programming language to start with as a beginner?

Ruby is good.

Very intuitive and easy to learn and really teaches you OOP. I like the syntax and it's just a pleasure to use
>>
>>55809006
So you want to learn programming?

Pick a starting language. For beginners, there are generally two recommended "programming families" that you can choose to start learning:
-Dynamically typed/interpreted programming languages, such as: Python, Perl, Ruby
-Statically typed/compiled programming languages, such as: C, C++, C#

These are amongst the most popular languages in use worldwide, including 4 from the top 5. Both approaches are perfectly fine, and well-documented.
-Dynamically typed programming may be a bit more flexible, convenient, and forgiving. It is more popular in academia.
-Statically typed programming is a bit more suited for making general applications. It is more popular in industries.

Cannot decide? Flip a coin.

If you choose statically typed/compiled programming, you may want to start with C, then pick up C++. C is very well documented, and teaches many universal programming concepts. C++ is based on C, and adds new concepts. Sources:
For C:

If you choose dynamically typed/interpreted programming, you may want to start with Python. It is very easy to pick up. Here are some good sources:
