When I was younger I used to download everything via newsgroups.
What's the /g/ opinion on this? Safe, dangerous, straight up crap?
I still download most of my warez thru usenet. You just need two accounts (one long retention paid monthly, another to fill the gaps paid by the gigabyte) to avoid getting incomplete packs.
>>55845657
>Paying money to download shit
No.
I have two block accounts which I use whenever I want to download a movie or a show. Sometimes it's taken down by DMCA but if you have a good indexer it's pretty comfy.
I use TinyWall to whitelist connections.
When I look at the block list, I noticed "94.23.193.135" was blocked from System. When I visit the site, it takes me to an ftp layout. When I click 'seed' it asks for a login, stating something about "rutorrent users".
What exactly is going on?
Are you torrenting?
>>55845298
No.
Though I do use a seedbox with rutorrent, which is accessed from my browser, however that IP is not the one mine uses.
When you visit "94.23.193.135", does it look the same?
**Update**
Now the IP says "http://188.165.232.203/"
What is this?

Who Hard Disk master race here?
I'm still using a 500GB drive I got for my Vista machine that still works flawlessly.

Is it worth buying cheap used monitors off Craigslist? I already have a 4k and just want extra monitors for productivity. Cheap as possible.
>>55844649
Yes. You can get pretty decent shit for around 20 pesos
>>55844649
Also try goodwill and thrift stores like it. I have 3 monitors + one good one. I'm headed for 7, but I am procrastinating wall visa mounts

Hey /g/, I'm building a HTPC from older hardware and need a good case that suits an ATX motherboars and full GPU. Help me.
>>55844643
Why do you need an ATX motherboard and a full GPU for a HTPC?
>>55844660
Have an ATX mobo with an i3 with intergrated gpu, but I am looking forward to upgrade the GPU. But also if not, I will stream games from my main PC to the HTPC thru the network.

I'm playing Garry's Mod for years now and I've always enjoyed it and I still am.
Besides playing Gmod, I like programming. I find seeing my code in action very entertaining. I know over 20 programming languages and it's very easy for me to learn new ones. I know the LUA syntax well, but I don't know the Gmod API.
When I search on Google or Bing, I usually get very few results on the Gmod API.
Is there any way of learning the API? Isn't there anything like the MSDN library?
I'd really appreciate your help! I wish to start coding for Gmod because I have good ideas for addons and game modes.
There is no Gmod API
All the info you need should be here http://wiki.garrysmod.com/?title=Main_Page
>>55844595
Gmod Lua isn't that famous nor useful to have its code found everywhere on the internet. Use the Gmod wiki and come here with questions incase you can't get answer from the wiki.
>>55844595
kek 20 languages huh, mind sharing which ones you know?
Btw I think you're bullshitting because if you knew 20 programming languages, you would easily be able to dive into glua
Do you think Microsoft will disable win32 programs in future Windows updates?
>>55844513
I'm surprised they haven't yet.
>>55844513
Definitely not on enterprise and education versions
Maybe in 3 years on home and pro versions
>>55844513
nah. too many legacy programs run by big corporations to do that. they were dumb enough to try messing with companies running windows and got their faces shoved into the ground (nt licensing fiasco).
I was using Windows Live Mail for an email client. Now I get this error text. I can receive mail, but not send it.
I was recently told they killed the software years ago. Is this true? If so, could I trouble anyone to recommend a better e-mail client without having to change OS? Or point me towards a site that can assist?

get thunderbird OR
use the online mail option
OR
install gentoo.
>>55844278
Yeah they stopped working on it some years ago. I finished setting up Windows Live Mail thinking it was kind of cool, then I got an email about getting Office for free because OneDrive bullshit microsoft lied about.
You could use Outlook 2016 I guess, I don't know.
As to solving your error
Fuck I don't know, Duck^2Go it. If you get nothing, continue to shitpost on /g/ until someone helps.

Is $150 a worthwhile purchase for the Typeheaven or should I just wait and get a Type-S HHKB at $330?
I'm getting tired of typing on an Apple scissor switch keyboard.
I'm going to switch over to the cheapo K-120 keyboard for now just so I don't get bored.
Shameless self bump.
Self-bumping again.
Honestly what is the HHKB meme? I use Topre switches too (Realforce 88UB) and they're nice but I have a hard time imagining the HHKB being worth twice the price just because of the layout.
I have it installed, but what do I do with it?
It seems really neat and I want to use it, but don't know how.
Have you tried reading?

One of the most popular wireless adapters, ae2500 is missing both a native Windows 10 and a Linux/BSD driver.
Windows 10 is able to use a Windows 7 driver, but breaks during updates requiring re-install.
Linux/BSD doesn't support it all because it uses a broadcom chip, but it's possible to get it working through ndiswrapper using the XP driver, but it's not very stable.
ae2500 sold within the top 3-10 wireless dongles since around 2012, literally tens of millions have it or had on their computers.
It's quite amazing that this wifi dongle hasn't yet received support on Linux/BSD especially. People too lazy to write one, because it is hard and easier to tell someone to buy a different one. I wonder how many people went back to Windows because they couldn't get it working, after trying a live CD or a Linux install.
Just an example of why the year of the Linux desktop will probably never happen, certain popular hardware simply never get support.
>>55844046
How does one write drivers anyway?
>>55844046
>doesn't support it at all
you mean the manufacturer doesn't build drivers/doesn't support ancient hardware on modern systems.

I moved to a new ISP but just a few minutes ago I found out that the whole ISP is blocked from posting on 4chan and my static IP is listed on two DNSBL databases
What can I do to get around the block?
probably the best thing to do is contact the blackhole list maintainers (and 4chan) and explain your situation. trying to get around it with a technical workaround isn't a good long term solution unless you're willing to pay for something like a VPN, which isn't a very good long term solution to be paying just to get around a 4chan ban.
>>55843982
ban evading is against global rules. enjoy your ban.
:^)
>>55843990
actually, it might suffice to tell your ISP that your IP address is on some blacklists (hopefully the DNSBLs aren't shady) and ask for a new IP address. "static" doesn't mean permanent; they can give you a different one assuming the geo block isn't like... the whole region/country you're in.
Is there any reason to use Emacs or Vim over pic related?
Yeah, because OP pic isn't compiled for any OS worth using.
Notepad++ is the only sane editor for Windows
