I have several idevices that I have that I am going to jailbreak. Anons, Should you recommend me to Jailbreak my iPhone 6S or should I wait for a stable release. It is currently Semi-Untether.
just go for it. you don't even need a pc to ''re jailbreak'' after a reboot
>>55844371
Sure thing, anon. I am still programming Objective-C on ios 8 at the moment. Several devices that i own are 32 bit. I will be making certain tweaks for my own. I do want to learn Apple Security.
>trusting a chinese firm to sign closed-source software to an already secure device so you could run arbitrary code made by CS dropouts
Yeah definitely jailbreak now, it's perfectly stable
The biggest problem with making a new, modern operating system is that with each passing year there's countless more things to be compatible with.
What if a new operating system completely ignored that need, and put all work into an automated system that cannibalises code from other operating systems?
>new OS can't read .png files
>OS makes Windows open a png file and looks at what code runs
>strips down the code as barebones as possible, by playing around in a sandbox and seeing what it can get rid of while still producing the same result
While that sort of code reading algorithm would have to be wondorously effective, by this point it seems more practical to make then a new operating system that does things in the old way.
>>55844210
There's no simple way to do this automatically, but it still happens in the form of open source programs being copied across to different OSs.
>>55845188
No simple way, but even if you have to throw millions of dollars at the problem, putting a fourth competitor in the OS market would certainly be a worthy achievement.

Welcome to /fglt/ - Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.
Users of all levels are welcome to ask questions about GNU/Linux and share their experiences.
*** Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread. ***
Before asking for help, please check our list of resources[*].
If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Hey /g/, I just did a fresh minimal netinstall of Debian without a DE, and something is fucked up. I don't have any basic commands like sudo, ifconfig, etc. and I can't connect to wifi. I've used Debian just fine on my laptop before, but I wanted to do a minimal install and just use i3. Does anyone know how to fix this so I can actually use my laptop?
What happened to all the old soviet union technology?
Do they still use it?
Are there any good books about it?
>>55843891
You mean like this?
In fact, it's the only way to deliver astronauts to the space station today
>>55843891
Big stuff like the Ternary computer?
Died with socialism.
May have been better, but capitalism doesn't care much for advancement in general technology.
Other stuff like their televisions and stuff?
They would have used them until they stopped working, and then replaced them with capitalist made goods as the soviet goods stopped being available.

Cringe thread I suppose
>>55843527
That doesnt trigger me, I'm using it right now.
Trying to figure out why my HDD stopped mounting in samba.
Shills took over the board.
Said shills started arguing with the whiny children, and the board slowed down.
Leave, there isn't much left.

is the IRC still ok at least?
You know, coming to /g/ for tech advice seems like bad idea, but, why not?
I can't ping 8.8.8.8, I can only use the google alternate DNS 8.8.4.4, which is slow as balls.
Do you have any recommendations? It dies right before it reaches 8.8.8.8 on the traceroute.
Pic unrelated
>>55843519
they're exactly the same.
>>55843555
Still doesn't explain why 8.8.8.8 isn't working!
>>55843570
NSA is intercepting your traffic, and the connection is being flagged as unsecurable. So Google refuses connection.
Move countries now. Destroy or encrypt all your data and move to an obscure linux distro. Replace all of your current CPU's with pre 2002 models, and only use free wiki hotspots with TOR and A VPN once you've moved. Use USB1 devices only. Change your name to something Spanish, and shave your head.

ModoBag thread
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HazWCa3huMY
Would you buy one of those $50 FPV drones to follow you around while you drive this to your gate?
What would you do if you saw a group of people riding their ModoBags around a mall or airport?
It's like a Segway, but with actual purpose.
>>55843105
Yeah, suits and skirts riding this shit...
I'll use my legs, thanks.
I'll do everything not to look like the people on Wall-E.
>>55844174
I'd rather be fit AND be able to use this so I can look like a dick that's earned his stripes.
>>55844216

AND
>be able to use this
You've hit a snag. There is no skill required to use this! You just sit on it and ride.
Shit runs on money and saves calories. I'd rather go the other way around.
what is /g/'s thoughts on the apple magic mouse 2?
