Thinking of getting a Baofeng HT. I hear the UV-B5/6s are better radios but everyone uses the UV-5R. Any reasons for this?
>>55872823
uv-b5 has a better receiver which may make a difference if you're in a busy area, and is slightly newer, however uv-5r is de facto entry level ham radio and as a result is cheap as hell (I mean, slightly cheaper than uv-b5 at any rate) and available everywhere whereas with the uv-b5 you might have to order from aliexpress
it may not make a difference but with the uv-5r you can adjust squelch settings with chrip whereas on the uv-b5 you cannot
personally I went with the uv-b5 but I still like the looks of the uv-5r more, probably far less ergonomic however
I own a uv5r but I never use it. Just listen to the crazy old hams talk.
Tried to connect to my local repeater but couldn't figure it out, the documentation is really poor.
>>55872886
oh yeah, the uv-b5 has a proper rotary encoder for frequencies rather than through buttons
it's quite a nice rotary encoder to use (*) but I haven't played around with any high end radios to compare
(* assuming the metal washer was installed properly at factory but if not it's a simple fix)

Not strange when Mozilla's goal seems to be making Firefox an exact copy of Chrome.
I'm sticking to Firefox due to Chrome's retarded handling of tabs (no scrolling, all tabs visible always and no addons to fix it, so if you have a normal amount of tabs open, there are no titles or even icons).
If Mozilla cucks decide that this feature is too complex for a typical user, and knowing them, they will, I'm jumping ship. It's literally the only thing keeping me there. This and addons, but they already said that they want to dumb them down to Chrome's level.
>>55872821
look at my tab bar. And I still stick with Chrome because Firefox is a piece of shit.

My apartment complex offers free WIFI, but it's restricted in the sense that I cannot do without things not working correctly. They also block stuff like gaming.
I have discovered, that if I connect to an Ethernet port directly, the blocking does not occur. If I buy a Ethernet to wireless adapter, will I be able to get this connection working through WIFI, or is it a lot more complicated than I am making it out to be?
Yes that'd work.
contact your dorms RA and have that person forward your request to your schools tech team
>>55872692
I am the RA, and funny enough, the manager also agrees with me that the blocking is silly. However, it's nothing we have control over in the sense of unblocking things.
Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap routers/adapters that just werk? Is there a different between a router and an adapter?
Where can I find advanced guides and tutorials on phishing and spearphishing? Google only turns up guides on how to defend against it.

I'm so fucking tired of start ups taking forever to send offer letters.
I'm on to my third start up. Each has promised an offer letter on x day and it turns up x+7 days later.
Why is it fucking up to me to keep hounding them and hounding them? Open to a legitimate explanation here.

Can't you stretch it to $100? The SE215 are pretty amazing.

Why aren't you using the latest GCC?
Clang.

because GCC is shit
Almost at 150 days, but I'll have to shut down because of Windows getting extremely slow, even when I have nothing running.
>tfw memory leaks make uptime placebo not worth it
Also, I haven't disabled Windows Update. It's just that my WSUS server has been unreachable since I no longer have it. I'm building a new box to replace it, but for the past 5 months all my PCs have been authenticating locally since that server also served as DC, file, and print server. Makes it super frustrating since whenever I type in a wrong password, it takes way longer to tell me to retype it.
