Linux on the desktop general. What are your favorite Linux programs to use on the desktop? What window manager do you use? Show us what your environment looks like—custom or stock, it's all welcome here. Feel free to post Windows or Macintosh on the desktop experiences in here as well; it's always interesting to compare and contrast.

Way too much money for me to care about this phone.

In Canada it costs $550 with a 2 year contract

I was laid off from my first job as a programmer, due to the company sizing down and while I was on medical leave. I've been feeling sorry for myself for a while and haven't been replying to any recruiter's for a while, since I feel like an utter failure.

It was my first job and I was there for about a year, working as an iOS/backend engineer. It's a pretty big company and a few of my friends are dealing with similar stories about suddenly being laid off by the "bigger" companies.

What do I do with my time? Any older /g/entlemen with some career advice or reasons why I shouldn't kill myself for being alive during the part of the bubble?

Does anyone know which of these certs are actually required for general use (Google services, most apps, web browsing, etc.) I can't find a good minimal list anywhere. I've gone through and disabled quite a few that look obviously shady (foreign and the like) but I want to know what are all of these here for in the first place, and how long do their transitive trust chains extend into who knows what

Now that Ubuntu's bash is on Windows does it make more sense to install Python and Node.js through apt-get instead of downloading and installing the usual Windows binaries?

Why are such a noticably high percentage of Indian Comp. Science majors/Software Engineers so shitty? I'm always running into Indians that live and die via copy/paste code. Any insight on how they teach there?
