Why do people even try and learn powershell? it's a piece of shit compared to bash. also takes much longer and more money to learn. Bash is free and easy to learn if you have the time.
>inb4 Bash is for autists
Because Powershell is a part of the most used OS in the world, the glorious Microsoft Windows and not some obscure piece of autist garbage like Loonix.
>>55900405
Apart from "glorious" part and "obscure piece..." yeah, thats the main reason.
Nobody stops you from learning some obscure programming language as well, for your own needs, but if you would want to seek job related to it, you would probably face problems, as everyone and their mothers would use more popular ones and expect you to know that.
The bigger company you would work in, the bigger chance that they will use Windows, at least in Europe. Again, nobody stops you from using Linux daily, but in work conditions, you would HAVE to know Windows.
>>55899873
powershell syntax is garbage
They should've adopted a more simpler syntax like bash

What anime is that from anon?
> I was only 39 years old
> I loved Stallman so much, I had all the FSF-approved distros and GNU corelibs
> I pray to Stallman every night before shutdown, thanking him for the software I've been given
> "Stallman is love" I say. "Stallman is life"
> Linus hears me and he calls me a freetard
> I knew he was just jealous of my devotion for Stallman
> I called him a proprietary cunt
> He kernelpanics me and sends me to go to my userspace
> Im crying now, and my shell hurts
> I lay in bed and its really cold
> A warmth is moving towards me
> I feel something touch me
> Its Stallman
> I am so happy
> He whispers in to my ear, "share the software"
> He grabs me with his powerful free-as-in-freedom hands and puts me on my hands and knees
> I'm ready
> I spread my libreboot cheeks for Stallman
> He penetrates my GRUB
> It hurts so much but I do it for Stallman
> I can feel my init system tearing as my package manager start to update
> I push against his force
> I want to please Stallman
> He interjects a mighty interjection as he fills my homedir with his love
> Linus walks in
> Stallman looks him straight in the eye and says. "It's all free now"
> Stallman leaves through my X window system
> Stallman is love, Stallman is life
i saw him at hope OP, he looked a bit frail.

Hey /g/ does anyone has any experience teaching to the elders?
I went to fix the computer of a grandma today and there wasn't anything to fix, they just upgraded to microshit 10 without knowing the installing process so they though their computer was broken, So I spent almost 3 hours explaining her how to create folders and move photos, how to use their smartphone, how to program their humidifier, although it was mostly chit chat.
So next time I guess I have to explain her how to manage files completely, looks like she knows how to edit documents and use chrome, so I don't think there is much to teach, I guess they just want to organize and send photos.
The grandpa however is way slower and more difficult to teach, I think he will forget soon after.
So how should I prepare? does anybody has tips with pictures? maybe a material about teaching children or elders? Should I install gentoo?
Is there any setting I should check on windows 10 to avoid future annoyances?
The grandpa will take you much more seriously if you charge him money.
Boomers tend to associate intrinsic value by how expensive something is.
If your little tutorial cost them $20, they're going to write that shit down.
>>55899386
Shit I was just gonna say write some basic notes down for them but this anon has a much better plan.
When I get drafted for tech support, its mostly grandma, and she's a pretty sharp lady. Usually just get called in for specifics when she doesn't want to break anything.
A while back, dad and I made a bunch of audio tutorials for her, and she still has those.
>>55899386
I think this anon has the right idea, make sure to stress to the elder in question that this is coming out of your time. Mostly I just ask for a dinner or two.
How's this for a real budget build

Are there other sites like Github that offer private repos? Dont feel like sharing my whole crap with the world, and i dont feel like paying 7 Dollars just for some privacy.
I don't think you understand the point of open source software.
bitbucket
>>55899135
Github has nothing to do with open source software, cum drinker. It's main purpose to exist is offer private repos for PAYING customers, and they get credibility thanks to idiots like you who host your hobbyist projects there and advertise it for free

Delicious!
Agree or disagree?
Apple's overpriced. I had an Asus laptop crap out on me after 2 years. Probably I would recommend Dell or Lenovo. Probably Dell because of the chinkpad meme.
Only Zbooks, Precisions and Lattitudes are worth any money these days. Rest are garbage.
>>55899117
Samefag. Also Acer's a decent value brand. I got one of their Chromebooks a couple years ago, and it's still going strong. Don't use it much, but it's meant to be a backup/extremely compact computer I can just grab and go with. One caveat that I ran into with my Acer is rooting to install a BIOS to support booting into Linux required removal of a jumper screw, which voided my warranty.
So... where is it?
