Hello /g/, I am currently running Ubuntu in a virtual machine using virtual box, the problem I have with virtual box is that the highest amount of video ram I can assign is 256 MB. Do any of you guys know of a vm program taht could let you bump it up to like 1 or 2 gb of vram?
Why on earth do you need a bunch of VRAM in your virtual machine?
That shit isn't going to make it faster.
>>55956300
Are you confused between vram and ram by chance ?
>>55956324
Because I want all the animations to run smoothly on my high res monitor.
So how do I turn off a rasberry pi zero not connect to the internet and without hdmi cable?
Will my sd card get corrupted if I pull out the electricity plug?
I forgot the pi zero had an mini hdmi port and I don't have an adapter
Am I fucked?
>>55956262
>how do I turn off a rasberry pi zero
Pull the plug
>Will my sd card get corrupted if I pull out the electricity plug?
Never used linux before huh?
Have you not even used it yet? If you haven't it should be fine if you pull the plug
>>55956283
>>55956287
Ok but I keep reading everywhere that the sd card might get corrupted when the pi is not properly shutdown.
It's the first time I boot it so I can't ssh into it because is not connected to my lan
I will pull the plug I guess
Why are you so apprehensive towards people who invest in their PCs in order to improve their experience when playing video games?
It's as much a valid investment as increasing your RAM in order to handle Photoshop better.
>>55956200
Why are you so apprehensive towards people who shitpost on taiwanese imageboards complaining about how others use their PCs?

Why are you here, and not >>/v/ ?

Howcome plenty of budget tablets have cheap 16:10 AH-IPS screens bundled into a small computer while monitors have abandoned the excellent aspect ratio and make you pay enough to feed an African family for a year for quality panels?
Who looks worse when sitting around in a café or park: guy typing into his macbook, that guy with gentoo on a thinkpad or the tablet guy?
The tablet guy. The tablet guy looks worst.
Are the surfaces good? Was thinking of picking one up for school as I'd think it be better than a laptop for portability and viewing textbooks.
Anyone running an IDE on a tablet? Developing any relevant languages from your tablet?
Is this a good deal? Cant find much of anything on this sub, especially on the price of this sub. I would be using it for producing music as well as performing live.

No, I wouldn't pay more than 120 for it. You can pick up a better sub with a warranty at that price.

hey g/, i m intrigued by trying a linux distro (possibly manjaro) the thing is, i actually NEED a windows 10 partition on my pc, for adobe software and other stuff i can only use on windows and i just updated to the w10 anniversary edition. Is there any way to stop the massive tracking spying shit that's on it? It makes my balls go dry
Every update and version of Windows 10 comes with built-in enterprise-grade Microsoft Botnet Technology™
You can disable certain elements (telemetry and shit like that) but MS will find ways to fucking inject spying into their OS.
I think you can use Destroy Windows 10 Spying but idk if it works on the latest update.
Install Linux then install Windows 10 in a virtual machine without networking.
>>55956106
>without networking.
Leave it on a week and monitor it from Linux. Brix will you shat.

I've always liked the minimally designed cases, but not sure if this is overpriced or not for the design.
I still feel like fractual design makes the best cases. Simple, non gamer shit design with quality of life features and reasonable pricing.

Preface, fuck GPU threads, but I want something answered:
What's the deal with the "$199" 480?
I saw it, I thought "Damn that looks nice, Imma get one!", now shit's all $350. The fuck?
Is this just the retailers not having as many as demand asks for so they're bumping up the price like cunts, or the OEM's just charging more because fuck it?
If it's the retailers then fuck that, they're never gonna drop the price down, why would they?
If it's the OEM's, then when the fuck will we see a $199 card?
Lucky me, I can get them for £239 ($312) in the UK
There are 100,00p RX 480 shipping in the next week or two; hopefully it will fix the price problem.
>>55955897
Blame the fucking miners. They're buying up all the stock and for the moment AMD's first run is struggling to keep up with the demand. Retailers, being the greedy shits they are, have taken the opportunity to jack up prices in response because they know the miners will still grab it.
There's also likely some yield issues that need to be worked out since this is a brand new node after all.
How do you calculate nvidia tflops on maxwell, kepler, pascal?
I know amd's is stream processors x 2 x clock
>>55955818

>I know amd's is stream processors x 2 x clock
That reaction face suits you OP. May God bless your children with some resemblance of an intelligent life form.
>>55955942
>>55955896
it is
rx 480 has 2304 stream processors
then you multiple by 2 for some reason and then the core clock which is 1266
so 2304 x 2 x 1266= 5,833,728
or 5.8 tflops
but i don't know how nvidia's work

Wind and solar farms? effective alternatives or no? does it actually costs more harm than good? is it just a meme? whats the deal with these sources of energy.
>>55955744
I used to work at a solar farm in California. Those things are toxic as fuck. We literally had employees that sit in towers watching for smoke because they frequently smolder (from the heat) and spew highly toxic shit into the air if they catch fire. They have to be hosed down and shut off for the day once this happens and parts replaced. It's constant maintenance none stop. Also once ina while when birds fly over them they (no joke) burst into flames and its a fire hazard.
>>55956759

>>55956759
>Birds burst into flames
You must work at a solar mirror site that reflects the energy into a water tower and spins a turbine. I have never heard of solar panels doing that.

I'm using some student loan dosh to get a GOOD computer this next few weeks, and I'm not sure what "loadout" to go with. I have a shit toshiba satellite that can run most games on low graphics but is having some kind of hard drive failure that makes it slow as fuck to read/write, and then I have a surface pro 1, which also can run most games fine on low, but lack of USB ports or HDMI out and shit storage space makes it not good as a main machine. I wanna be covered as far as having something portable with high battery life, and then having something that can run some games for a few years.
Should I -
A) Build a 600 dollar rig, buy two matching monitors, making it around 800-900, and then just use my surface pro 1 at school
B) Build a shittier 500 dollar rig, only get ONE monitor like a chump, making it around 650, and then get an android tablet or an ipad or something
C) Just get a surface pro 3 or 4 and a dock, which will be like 900+ dollars minimum after all is said and done but it'll be seamless
Someone pls hjalp to decide I can't imagine which is going to be the least inconvenient because the setup I have now is like whipping ball torture
