Hello /g/, I am currently running Ubuntu in a virtual machine using virtual box, the problem I have with virtual box is that the highest amount of video ram I can assign is 256 MB. Do any of you guys know of a vm program taht could let you bump it up to like 1 or 2 gb of vram?

Ok but I keep reading everywhere that the sd card might get corrupted when the pi is not properly shutdown.
It's the first time I boot it so I can't ssh into it because is not connected to my lan

hey g/, i m intrigued by trying a linux distro (possibly manjaro) the thing is, i actually NEED a windows 10 partition on my pc, for adobe software and other stuff i can only use on windows and i just updated to the w10 anniversary edition. You can disable certain elements (telemetry and shit like that) but MS will find ways to fucking inject spying into their OS.

Is this just the retailers not having as many as demand asks for so they're bumping up the price like cunts, or the OEM's just charging more because fuck it?

Blame the fucking miners. They're buying up all the stock and for the moment AMD's first run is struggling to keep up with the demand. Retailers, being the greedy shits they are, have taken the opportunity to jack up prices in response because they know the miners will still grab it.
There's also likely some yield issues that need to be worked out since this is a brand new node after all.

rx 480 has 2304 stream processors
then you multiple by 2 for some reason and then the core clock which is 1266
so 2304 x 2 x 1266= 5,833,728
or 5.8 tflops
but i don't know how nvidia's work

I used to work at a solar farm in California. Those things are toxic as fuck. We literally had employees that sit in towers watching for smoke because they frequently smolder (from the heat) and spew highly toxic shit into the air if they catch fire. They have to be hosed down and shut off for the day once this happens and parts replaced. It's constant maintenance none stop. Also once ina while when birds fly over them they (no joke) burst into flames and its a fire hazard.

I'm using some student loan dosh to get a GOOD computer this next few weeks, and I'm not sure what "loadout" to go with. I have a shit toshiba satellite that can run most games on low graphics but is having some kind of hard drive failure that makes it slow as fuck to read/write, and then I have a surface pro 1, which also can run most games fine on low, but lack of USB ports or HDMI out and shit storage space makes it not good as a main machine. I wanna be covered as far as having something portable with high battery life, and then having something that can run some games for a few years.
Should I -
A) Build a 600 dollar rig, buy two matching monitors, making it around 800-900, and then just use my surface pro 1 at school
B) Build a shittier 500 dollar rig, only get ONE monitor like a chump, making it around 650, and then get an android tablet or an ipad or something
C) Just get a surface pro 3 or 4 and a dock, which will be like 900+ dollars minimum after all is said and done but it'll be seamless
Someone pls hjalp to decide I can't imagine which is going to be the least inconvenient because the setup I have now is like whipping ball torture
