Yes, my PC is always on. The only reason I shut it down is to maintain or replace hardware.
The con of doing this is power usage. My PC takes something like 100W at idle.

I turn mine off at night or when i'll be away from it for more than 2 hours. I'd recommend sleep mode for most people.

Hey /g/uys. I have a job in pest control, so I've been trying to decide on a new flashlight for termite inspections and getting around crawlspaces. I'm on a $30 budget, and was hoping to find something fairly small (4-6 inches) that has a high setting of ~500 lm and a low between 150-250 lm. I would prefer if it had fairly easy to replace or usb rechargable batteries. Anyone have any good suggestions?

For 500 lumens you need something that uses 18650 Lithium Ion cells. A Convoy S2+ with the 1400mA driver is ideal, it has 3 modes, 45 lumen, 300 lumen and 600 lumen. Then you need a charger and a couple of protected 18650 cells. The $30 budget is not enough though, you need around $60 for all these.
This all assumes you need "true" 500 lumen output, and not "500 lumen" of lies.

consolekit
systemd
lock in (gnome depends on systemd, systemd depends on glibc, and systemd depends on linux kernel)
gnome removing options to protect "brand identity"
Because of all these things I have to use Gentoo with modified ebuilds just to be able to use decent software. (Konsole, Kate, KSsyguard, etc)
Also, don't give the "if you don't like it, change it" argument. If I fork fork dbus, and remove activation, all my bug reports will be CLOSED WON'T FIX and I won't get any support in irc.
