This is a common issue people have. Check all the boxes on the left. The buttons on the right don't matter. Then, click Continue.

Do you leave your PC on 24/7?
Are there any cons to doing this?
>>55972650
I generally leave my computer on for a week or two straight. Your fans will die quicker and you'll have a bigger power bill, nothing catastrophic.
>>55972650
Yes, my PC is always on. The only reason I shut it down is to maintain or replace hardware.
The con of doing this is power usage. My PC takes something like 100W at idle.
>power use
>extra dust
I turn mine off at night or when i'll be away from it for more than 2 hours. I'd recommend sleep mode for most people.
Hey /g/uys. I have a job in pest control, so I've been trying to decide on a new flashlight for termite inspections and getting around crawlspaces. I'm on a $30 budget, and was hoping to find something fairly small (4-6 inches) that has a high setting of ~500 lm and a low between 150-250 lm. I would prefer if it had fairly easy to replace or usb rechargable batteries. Anyone have any good suggestions?
>>55972545
For 500 lumens you need something that uses 18650 Lithium Ion cells. A Convoy S2+ with the 1400mA driver is ideal, it has 3 modes, 45 lumen, 300 lumen and 600 lumen. Then you need a charger and a couple of protected 18650 cells. The $30 budget is not enough though, you need around $60 for all these.
This all assumes you need "true" 500 lumen output, and not "500 lumen" of lies.
>>55972545
Get an xmlt6 from China
>>55972630
Honestly, I could pretty easily get away with 300 lumen max, if that makes things easier.
Why do some people still prefer XP over Win7?
Explain it to me, since I barely used XP when it was relevant, went basically straight from 95 to Vista.
>>55972504
Some people just refuse to give something up or they still depend on software that only works on XP.

Why do some people still prefer Win7 over W10?
Explain it to me, since I barely used Win7 when it was relevant, went basically straight from XP to W8.
>>55972514
Could you give me some examples of sotfware that doesn't work on 7 from XP? I find that the compatibility between the 2 is pretty good.
Will /g/ stop suggesting Unix based operating systems (except Mac OS X) for people?
I mean because of all the people switching from windows, we now have:
freedesktop.org
udisks
dbus activation (which can't be disabled cleanly)
polkit
consolekit
systemd
lock in (gnome depends on systemd, systemd depends on glibc, and systemd depends on linux kernel)
gnome removing options to protect "brand identity"
Because of all these things I have to use Gentoo with modified ebuilds just to be able to use decent software. (Konsole, Kate, KSsyguard, etc)
Also, don't give the "if you don't like it, change it" argument. If I fork fork dbus, and remove activation, all my bug reports will be CLOSED WON'T FIX and I won't get any support in irc.
