Last night we discussed making a KAT alternative that doesn't look like shit,
has the torrent sorting, and some of the social features KAT had. This will fill
the hole that KAT (and to some degrees torrentz) has left in the torrent
community, and with a little promotion could easily gain back some of the
users that KAT/Torrentz had that are still looking for a new home.
3 things we need to decided on are
1) Name (gtorrent was a /g/project from 2 years ago, though we could just out-seo them)
2) Whether to use a public project like github.com/sergiotapia/magnetissimo, with an already established and simple to configure torrent indexer which we can modify to fit our goal, or make our own from scratch
3) How many people want to help with this project.
Set up an IRC channel on irc.freenode.net at #gtorrents

If you think /g/ is capable of anything more than making a logo, you're mistaken.
I'll make the logo

If I really wanted to risk doing this, and spend all the time on it, I would make it on my own without you plebs mooching off it.
So the iphone 7 series won't have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Surprisingly there are people who are defending this choice. This reminds me of when I got a new case for my iphone 6:
>case is great
>but headphone port on case is too small so my some of my bulkier headphone jacks don't fit
>buy slim adapters
>adapters break or get lost
>try blue tooth headphones. battery and audio quality sucks
>End up buying new case with bigger headphone port cutout
How does Apple not see that this is what will start happening? Especially since Samsung and LG are making better phones that they ever have?
Normies won't give a fuck as long as they bundle in some shitty wireless or lightning headphones
After this disaster, Apple will reintroduce the headphone jack with next years' model. Wait and see.
>>55966914
And when the even thinner phone breaks even easier they'll still just buy a new one

Is it autistic to convert .mp3's into .flac's?
That transcode would literally worsen the sound quality you fucking retard
>>55964678
No, it's just plain stupidity.
Hearing the difference now isn't the reason to encode to FLAC. FLAC uses lossless compression, while MP3 is 'lossy'. What this means is that for each year the MP3 sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12kbps, assuming you have SATA - it's about 15kbps on IDE, but only 7kbps on SCSI, due to rotational velocidensity. You don't want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.
I started collecting MP3s in about 2001, and if I try to play any of the tracks I downloaded back then, even the stuff I grabbed at 320kbps, they just sound like crap. The bass is terrible, the midrange…well don’t get me started. Some of those albums have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. FLAC rips from the same period still sound great, even if they weren’t stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to FLAC, you may not be able to hear the difference now, but in a year or two, you’ll be glad you did.

- Always state the purpose of your PC and your budget. If asking for improvements, state whether you want the price and/or quality of the build to be improved.
Also this isn't the same anon who made the last thread but I changed up the previous format up a bit, let me know how it looks.
hey /g/ i havnt been up to date with whats the latest and decent hardware for the past year but a friend of mines wants to game basically on 1080p/60fps. His budget is about 600-800, any builds that will be good for him at that price range? Is amd's chip still shit as usually and what is the better price wise gpu now nvidia new model or amds r9 400s series?

this is the build so far i came up with and i need some help to understand somethings before i tell my friend this. Is the evo 212 needed for a non k cpu? What is the best motherboard brand today now ( use to be asus) also what does one really need for a motherboard really? is heat spread on ram a meme btw never really though it was necessary and makes it look like shit.
>>55965042
>Is the evo 212 needed for a non k cpu?
It will run somewhat quieter than the stock fan. I wouldn't say it's worth it but I use closed headphones.
>What is the best motherboard brand today now ( use to be asus)
Gigabyte has improved greatly. Asus is still good. MSI is degrading rapidly. ASRock is still hit and miss.
>also what does one really need for a motherboard really?
Other than the obvious selecting the right socket and chipset I presume? Depends on what kind of overclocks are planned. If you're not overclocking at all the cheapest thing with enough ports is going to be good enough. If you are overclocking it gets complicated fast, prepare to look at review after review once you narrow it down to what boards are viable candidates.
>is heat spread on ram a meme btw never really though it was necessary and makes it look like shit.
If you're under 4k MHz it does not matter in the slightest. Heat spreaders just get in the way of XXXL CPU coolers.

If i study webdev for 2 hours a day how long until I am proficient enough to be hired and get money?
I already know Java.
I don't know why, but it always feels like when I program, I have to reinvent the wheel. I try to never use libraries, because I feel like its cheating me from doing work.
Did anyone else have this feeling? I'd like to make more things, but I always feel like shit for using something simple like Express.
