>Sure, if you’re sitting less than six feet away from a 55-inch TV and you have perfect vision, you might notice a difference. At greater distances, smaller screen sizes, or worse eyesight, you probably won’t.
4k meme status confirmed

quit shitting up the fucking board with your normie tier nonsense about viewing distance for TELEVISIONS being relevant for a desktop monitor which is typically viewed around less than a metre away
see pic related, 24" is around 60cm for those interested, hold your arm out, if your palm touches the monitor that's around 60cm give or take
given that the average 1920x1080 monitor is around 22-24" and average 4k is around 27-34" you can scale down a 4k monitor comfortably and still be able to see even small text clearly, essentially giving you around (depending on how much you scale) 4 1920x1080 monitors worth of resolution, imagine getting a literal extra screen worth of height (give or take) and how fucking useful that would be for programming
tl;dr 4k, 5k, and higher resolutions are absolutely worth it for desktop monitors
Can someone redpill me on BTC/CC mining? Is it even profitable any more, I have been out of the scene since what was basically the start.
I have access to free power does that change anything or should I still not bother?
I feel like it's better than not letting it run when I'm out which is most of the time.
>>56034204
bitcoin mining hasnt been profitable since 2010.
Whos paying for your power, your mom?
If you buy some some shit to mine btc at a reasonable (still ineffective) speed, it would take years to break even.
>>56034204
>Is it even profitable any more
No. There's farms in China that fill warehouses. It's pointless to mine anything. You're better off trading.
You'd be better off begging for quarters in the subway

Is Arduino a meme?

>I don't know how to form my own opinions. I'm afraid to try new things.
>>56034084
yes and no,
the pros hate it because it significantly lowers the barrier to embedded programming while having nonstandard header spacing, and everything you can do with an arduino you can do with a regular atmega328 or whatever microcontroller for ~$2
however as far as somewhat cheap (especially the clones and knockoffs - you'll so rarely run into issues it won't make a difference if you have a known genuine/working board to compare to) prototyping device goes it's absolutely amazing at what it does
So I have acer aspire vn17 nitro
8gb ram
i5-4210h 2,9ghz
gtx950m 4gb
Limbo runs at 7fps and ETS2 at 4fps in menu
I updated my drivers, tried to disable integrated gpu, ran games through geforce experience nothing helps. Im losing my mind. Any solutions?

Do you feel it too? The slow, creeping death of the web, I mean.
Let me explain. Things weren't always like this. The web was once used as a means of sharing information, but free from traditional barriers to entry. Anybody could create their own site, and have absolute freedom. The only cost was hosting. Some hosts were even free. You could find pretty much anything you wanted.
That began to change though, around 10 years ago, with the arrival of the big social networks. They made it even easier for people to make their own little corner on the web. They'd even provide a tidy design. It came at a cost, though. Once people joined these networks... they seldom strayed beyond them. A carefully filtered subset of the outside was shown to them, and they were threatened with viruses and identity theft if they left the site.
Fast forward, and now the consolidation of the web has progressed far. There's just a few big sites left now, and hardly anybody ever makes their own, most don't even know that you can. The big sites practically control everything, and they don't like anything that conflicts with their business interests. Even email is mostly unknown these days - most people simply use their favorite site's messenger functionality.
Can we ever turn back the clock, and fix the web?
>>56034080
>no normies on the web outside of the containment zone
I fail to see the problem.
>can the internet go back to being a wild west again
nope
sorry
those days are over.
too many normies got on the ship, which means more complaints, which means more regulation and restrictions.
it's only going to get much, much worse from here on out.
Assuming the NX is indeed a tablet, will Nintendo be able to deliver the first serious competitor to the iPad?
>>>/v/
Not a chance. Nintendo largely focuses on kiddy stuff for their consoles and handhelds, as they know that gaming is a child's hobby. Expect some funny camera filters and maybe a messaging app, nothing more.
>>56034083
If it's a proper tablet then it won't just play videogames dummy.

I really want to learn about computers so I can get a job at a local computer shop, but the applicants need to have a basic general knowledge of just about everything and I basically know nothing about computers.
I really need the job and it's been open for a month so and nobody else has gotten it so I think they can wait a while longer, but I have no idea where to start learning. How did you guys get edumacated?
Wat do?
You could try to go there and offer to help around for a month, and learn.
Other than that, I assume it is mostly windows related?
Try to get IIS (windows http server, for all you care) and get it to serve you an index.html you write from localhost.
This should keep you busy for a while.
also get an old disk and repartition it. Reinstall office? Maybe try to dual boot windows/ubuntu.
Spin up a virtual machine with windows xp, configure printers, save .doc to pdfs, mount a samba share over LAN, format an usb drive to NTFS, use winscp to access a remote box.
But mostly just show up on the shop and tell them you are willing to learn.
nginx in windoes wouldn't hurt. It is weird enough to get it running for a begginer that should give you an interesting afternoon.

The only skill you need to work there is how to use Google. Now go get an interview, pretend like you know what you're talking about, say some shit like, "My Thinkpad dualboots Gentoo and Arch" and you've got it.
Stallman's arguments for having an open-system is so that in the future, if you want at least a tiny amount of privacy you need to start fighting for it now, or things will continue on their current path and get out of hand eventually to the point where most of your personal information will be accessible.
I don't really agree with this, because can't we as intelligent beings draw the line when it eventually gets to the point where enough is enough?
>can't we as intelligent beings draw the line when it eventually gets to the point where enough is enough?
We have proven over and over again in our history that this is not the case.
