My first computer was a hand-me-down homebuilt assembled in the early 1990's. I don't remember what case it had exactly, but it was one of those beige behemoths.

prior to pic in op, I owned many beige coloured computers but they were all pre builts

It seems some researchers succeeded in stealing data using the sound emitted by the hard drives. It appears to be the same team that did a number of similar stuff.

Neat. Foam dampening around Govt. HDDs soon.

Considering that hard drives read and write data with several hundreds MBit/s this is very unlikely as in physically impossible.

hi /g/
what programming language is capable of outputting a dynamic image overlay that updates based on the time?
I've noted down the times of the pokemon spawns around me, and I want to write a program that will display which spawns are live around me at the current time but I don't know where to start

all I really know is c and matlab, and even so not extremely well

essentially I want to have an image shown (the map), and overlay other images (spawn markers) in specific positions on top of the original based on the current time

what language or software should I be looking into for this?

I can do the basics (slowly), I could make a dodgy version in C where I input the current time and it outputs a preset picture showing the spawns for that particular time (I'd have to make a picture of each possible formation doing that though)
I'm just wondering what to use to have something that updates based on the time automatically and can overlay images
I'm willing to work the rest out myself
should I be looking at html or something?
>>
>>56060343
Any language that can deal with images, or GUI toolkits, or html. Basically all languages fullfil your purpose.

But if you want easy, just use JavaScript with leaflet and a browser.

Im selling my current rig to a friend, taking my SSD with me.
I want to make a 6600k + 1070 machine. Thing is, I'm a cheap fuck, but I don't want to sacrifice quality either. Was hoping to get this list to $999 while keeping everything nice. Any suggestions?

With the latest work on the Nouveau driver, are we finally coming out of the dark ages of open source Nvidia on Linux?

I'm using it now (on 4.7, not 4.8) and it doesn't overheat and shit around like the older versions used to

https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Nouveau-Pull-Linux-4.8

It's funny because the only reason I got around to trying it is because the Nvidia proprietary driver wouldn't compile on Ubuntu with the updated kernel so I had no choice other than to use it, so I'm pleasantly surprised

I don't really get the whole obsession over LaTeX though. It's good, it really is, but if you look at the quality of the average publication made in LaTeX it's fucking laughable.

I'm sick of having so many devices which I barely use and keep them in sync etc.

I just want to get down to one Laptop, one phone.

I already sold my tablet and my second notebook, never used those piece of shits anyway.

Now I want to get rid of my desktop but I'm reluctant. Sometimes I do "heavier" work, nothing really graphics intense, but bigger visual studio projects and several VMs and my current laptop (sandy bridge i5 dual core) regularly shits the bed. It's not terribly slow, but noticeably laggier than my desktop (sandy bridge i5 2500k + 7970 from old gaming times, never really use that). Both have SSDs.

Can a newer quad core laptop (say 6700HQ) with something like a 940m or 960m keep up with that?

mail your camera manufacturer to have tiff support.
ask your distro to use it as default image format.
complain at internet companies for not having tiff graphics on their site.
inform your congeressman of lack of tiff format on goverment information.

And tell people that you are using tiff because it is the best!

Redpill me on .tiff OP.

Professors at my school always told me to use this format for prints and it didn't bother me converting the pictures to .tiff so I kept using it.

Pic not related, just a cool gif.
