What podcasts does /g/ listen to?
I've been listening to Paul's Security Weekly and Security Now.
I'm looking for something else because Security Weekly doesn't really cover anything I care about and Security Now seems to be 50% infomercial and 40% reading news articles verbatim.

Security now is awful. The first 20 minutes is like the 'errata' and other autism from Gibson and then comes the main shit sandwich. He only has about 30 of real explanation but he keeps going over it like 10 times. I loose track of what the fuck he is talking about and had to stop listening.

why do you install Linux?

Because games are for children.

>>56139707
couldn't you do the same on windows or Mac
>>
>>56139668
Originally I installed it because I was a developer, and development on Windows is a pain compared to Linux

Then I fell in love with it, and now I wouldn't replace it for anything else for multiple reasons. It's ultra comfy, I've gotten more paranoid about spying/botnet, the alternatives have become more and more shit, it's the only OS that gives *me* control over my computer, etc.

i fell for the linux meme

i did all you told me

but this error keeps popping up

>Cannot install grub on /dev/sda: fatal error during installation

i googled the error, some told me my PC was in fast boot mode, nope
some told me shit about UEFI/BIOS, if mine is BIOS I should have no problem... and it's BIOS

im installing Elementary OS, my other OS is Win10

where else could I go? what do you do when you're stuck like this? i've been trying this shit for hours

>>56139526
Step 1: don't go for dualbooting, format your hard drive completely
Step 2: don't pick Elementary OS as your first distro if you want to experience Linux. Go for something like Debian, although Mint is easier.
Step 3: git gud

Did you make a seperate /boot partition? If so, is it large enough? Also, you don't need to make one.
Make a / (root) partition that's about 20 GB
A /home partition that's the biggest part of your hard drive's space
Then a swap partition that's about twice as big as your PC's amount of RAM.

If you did this, and your BIOS startup settings are BIOS/Legacy you should have no problems

Install it on a USB thumbdrive first (you're gonna need USB 3.0/3.1 though) if you don't want to abandon Winblows completely
>>
>>56139608
Also, if you picked E OS because of the way it looks, you can install it's DE (desktop environment) and iconset on most distros, it requires a little more work though
>>
>>56139526
>Cannot install grub on /dev/sda: fatal error during installation
Is that really the full error? Usually grub prints more than just that

>what do you do when you're stuck like this?
Assuming google fails me, my second step is usually hitting IRC (either of the project I'm trying to install, or of the distro)

How hard is it to learn loonix to the point where you are proficient in a terminal and can do all sorts of neworking stuff, like sshing into a headless machine and adjusting its running servies and whatnot..?
I used to work as a windows IT guy, but i actually never touched linux in my life and want to give it a fair shot.

If you are tech savvy then you should be able to pick it up with time. Lots of commands to know and understand, but the interface to them is pretty straightforward.
>>
It's pretty easy.
I used the FreeBSD handbook to learn, and it worked.
>>
>>56139508
why the fuck would you want to learn a dying system?
linux marketshare is getting smaller every day, it's almost nonexistent in the desktop use, and it's being pushed out by windows even out of its intended domain - server usage. More than 50% nonweb of servers run on windows nowadays and the number of windows webservers grows rapidly as well.
Learning linux is like learning ancient aramaic and expecting it to be actually useful

I want to track every movement of my gf. She knows about it and wants me to do so, so it doesn't have to be an "invisible" app or anything. However, what apps are good for doing that? Bonus points if the tracking can be turned on and off (i want to track her when she's working).

Any ideas what apps/systems to use?

What do you use to carry around your stuff?

Currently considering this:

However, I would greatly appreciate opinions, or even personal experiences with this backpack as I'm still not sure as to whether I'm ready to drop some money on this.

Keep in mind I plan on using this for college and I hope this will keep my things organized as well as allow me to keep it all slim.

Why does my laptop look so fuzzy compared to my other laptop?
Laptop 1 has a larger screen (1920x1080) while Laptop 2 has 1280x720.
Laptop 1 is using Windows 7 and Laptop 2 is using Windows 8.1

When comparing both of them side by side, I feel like Laptop 2 is able to see more colors. When they're side by side, Laptop 2 had a much more clear and defined display of a specific color, while laptop looked worse. The same thing goes for the fonts.
Is this an OS related issue, or is it the laptop itself?

I don't think it's the screen though. Here's how the screens look. How do I make the left look like the right?
