I'm going to live 3 months out in the boonies in a house with no internet hookup and outside my phone's 3G coverage. What are some options I can do to get my online fix? To hook the house up to internet would take 1/2 a mile of laying cable so that's a no-go, but I don't have a clue what's actually good for satellite or similar options.

Get >>>/fit/
Cocoon mode
Walk when you need Internet to pay bills or whatever.
>>56198384
If you're going into the the boonies, might want to also ask >>>/k/ about self defense recommendations.
>>56198665
Can't do it, man. Unless a neighbor who was hooked up let me on, it would be almost 20 miles following the roads to the nearest public wifi hub. There's gotta be a tech fix for this.
>>56198737
/k/ is my mother board, actually. I'll be a lot comfier in that regard rurally than in my current culturally enriched urban environment.
Just bought pic-related. So far I like the Blackbery modifications to the stock os. What does /g/ think about android blackberry? Priv and/or DTEK50?
>most secure smartphone
>doesnt even have fingerprint scanner
>>56198254
Fingerprints are terrible for authenication as a password. Leaving the scanner out is a wise choice - passwords can be changed, your fingerprint can't.
Also, priv user here. It is awesome.
>>56198235
I wish I could have this with BB10.
Hey /g/ I'm getting booted offline...
What is the quickest way to stop it
>>56198037
idk

Cause your ISP to issue you a new DHCP lease.

No wonder people prefer Ubuntu and Mint over this garbage.

netinstall? xfceinstall? lxdeinstall? mateinstall? gnomeinstall? kdeinstall?
>unpolished interface
What does this even mean? You didn't like the desktop environment you picked?
>iceweasel
It's Firefox.
>ancient kernel
lts? stable? testing? unstable?
>most user unfriendly distro i've ever tried
Stop distro hopping and learn something so you don't sound foolish.
I just cant program. Nothing clicks, I don't know how to fix this. Am i fucked? Do I just give up? There Is no proper tutorial for people not familiar with computer science to program. So the difficulty just to enter is insane. What the fuck do I do? Im learning Python and am lost at classes. There seems to be no point In doing the same fucking tutorial bullshit all the time, and nothing I study Is properly explained. Why would I pass an argument through my script? What use would It serve? It just feels like Im wasting time due to comp sci authors being lazy as fuck and the online community being arrogant and dickish.
I mean shit can a nigger get a fucking checklist on what the fuck to learn from the perspective of someone with no experience ever In this?
>>56197966
you fundamentally need to understand the meta-level of programming if you want to make it. learning a bunch of python functions won't help you without having an understanding of how it all works together to achieve your goals.

Why is Apple's hardware so excellent?
The Surface devices are also high quality but everything else in the market is shit.

>Only familiar with Visual Basic and SQL
How might one engage in such a noble quest? I really wish to become more adept with programming and computer science, but not to sure where to start.
Any pointers /g/?

Install an easy to use distro like Debian/Mint/Ubuntu
Try to learn commands command to install stuff, sudo apt-get install/purge (package)
It really is simple to use linux if you don't try to install arch
The first is to learn how to search, all of your questions have been asked before

>>56197838
here are some pointers:int *a;
double *b;
Some hours hair pulling later, combination theory appliance to code, not really sure how to solve in a great way.
Currently trying bit shifting to choose "or" parameters, but wondering if somebody has ideas?
IDL transformator in C#
Input:void before(
(Node or DOMString) node,
(int or float) value,
(CssClass or DOMString) data)
Becomes:before(Node, int, CssClass)
before(Node, int, DOMString)
before(Node, float, CssClass)
before(Node, float, DOMString)
before(DOMString, int, CssClass)
before(DOMString, int, DOMString)
before(DOMString, float, CssClass)
before(DOMString, float, DOMString)
void before (Object node, Object value, Object data)
And later on use either some reflection magic or node.GetType(), value.GetType(), data.GetType() and react accordingly...
>>56197882
Yes, i know this one, but everything 100% needs to be verified at compiletime, thats the feature. When generating all variants, only absolute known data can be passed in.
Its External-Call code, so i cant have code inside those functions.
>>56197932
Wrap them into something like:public class NodeClass
{
public Node NodeValue { get; set; }
public DOMString DOMStringValue { get; set; }
}
From here you should be able to simplify things a lot...
Will having a dedicated boot hard drive improve my OS performance?
>>56197566
if you move swap/page file to your secondary drive then yes, a little.
if you buy a cheap small ssd as new primary drive your pc will fly.
if it has faster read/write speeds than the drive you would have otherwise used, yes. its why we're using ssd's now for boot drives
I also like it because It allows me to free up my other hdd's, power wise. I'm not against using WD green drives as secondary storage, they hardly use any power in their dormant state, and I find I hardly even access most of them
>>56197566
and for other reasons man.
my hard disk made fucking grinding noises and is now listed as "failed" five minutes ago.
only reason i'm here is because i have an ssd as boot drive with all the shit on it
windows explorer doesn't work, cant use anything that accesses the harddrive. so some programs don't work at all, while some just can't draw from the hard disk anymore
Can I extend C into the unallocated? Do I just need a 3rd party software?
just leave it. too much hassle for measly 22 gb
>>56197542
What's on D? if it useless delete it and allocate everything to C then.
>>56197542
you will need to move D to the end of the drive before that
BraceScript is a second level programiming language created by Kennedy Kanyi, a developer from Kenya. The language mainly targets kids who are just starting to learn programming.
BraceScript approaches programming concepts from a simple and fun to do point. The kids get to learn the importance of syntax as they enjoy creating things and drawing images and animations through code.
Being second level, BraceScript rides on first level language frameworks like Python and Javascript. It is basically simple syntax formed to emulate complex syntax of first level languages; with the goal of making something easy for a kid.

What type of moron would choose a gimped 3gb 1060 (pic related) over a RX 480
>>56197263
Your mom
>>56197263
I got the 6gb version and its great desu
In Europe the superclocked version (nvrmnd the regular one) is actually cheaper than the AiB rx480. The single fan is more than enough -- shit runs cool with the new bios evga released, and I easily added 90mhz on top of the stock oc.
The whole 480 being more future-proof than 1060 is a meme since there are gonna be better dx12 gpus in two years from now, so only spergs and retards cling on to pipe-dreams just to validate their purchasing choices.
>>56197904
The 6gb is fine, the 3gb is legitimately gimped, not just memory and somehow they're able to keep the 1060 name.
