Why don't your Ethernet connectors look like this?
Because Ethernet Jacks don't look like this. Newfriend

What do you need a gui for? What's so hard about keyboard shortcuts..
Use bomi.
It's mpv with a gui, basically.

What's your hacker pose?
Shit TV series.
Hi /g/
I'm moving to a notebook focussed workstation for portability and consistency.
I want to run a high performance enterprise class notebook that will be able to meet everyday use needs for the next several years.
I want this laptop to run a GNU/Linux based os (Arch, Gentoo or Debian at this stage) with no hardware compatibility issues.
The work desk at home will ideally have a dock to connect the notepad to my peripheral devices and Multi monitor (two or three) setup.
Money is no concern, as this will be my daily driver for the next few years in replacement of my dedicated workstation.
What notebooks on the market can achieve this? I've looked at the HP elitebook series and thinkpads so far.

>Buying the same phone with minor differences every year
So are Apple and all these tech companies going to keep releasing the same fucking phone with minor changes every year until the end of time??? How do they keep getting away with it???
they make incremental advances every year because they can't just stomp their feet and get what they want the way you can with your mom. technical breakthroughs are not trivial to achieve.
if you're complaining that companies aren't changing designs every year to be unique like a snowflake, then you're a faggot. first, if a company just comes out and says that they changed things for the sake of changing (and not for some improvement), then users would get pissed off that some or all of their accessories don't work for no reason other than to satisfy some retard on 4chan. second, people don't want to deviate very far from design patterns that work. rectangular slabs with large capacitive screens are a known design pattern that generally work.

Let me guess, you have like 10 Iphones.

nope. i'm just not a needy childish bitch.
It has a Lightning port instead.

Headphones with molex port, when?
Would a <=$400 Thinkpad be able for Maya and potentially Zbrush use?
Normally I'd use my desktop for something like this, but due to a retarded university rule, "no desktops allowed".
I know that Intel GPUs may have problems, but if I really need to, I could always set up an eGPU with a card I have leftover.
Go for the t430 with nvidia nvs dGPU, if that doesn't happen to be enough it has an expresscard port too for easy eGPU setup.
>>56238001
This is probably your best bet unfortunately OP
The dedicated graphics card (NVS 5400M) is only about as powerful as modern intel integrated graphics though lmao
>>56238001
>>56238124
I don't think I'm going to need a very powerful GPU, as I'm only planning on practicing with Maya and Zbrush, and don't plan on doing heavy rendering or anything like that.
Anyway, this sounds great. Thanks.

I wanted to see "EPIC PSU WATERCOOLING PART 1" in my feed. The prequel to dudes death would have been hilarious. People not getting why part 2 never came out etc.
This fag gets on my nerves.
Should I cop? I'm a richfag gaming and overclocking enthuiast looking for the best possible performance and that means usb 3.1 case. It finally seems like Newegg is catering to marketshare like myself.

Why Fedora?
Ubuntu is the go to beginner distro, even tech illiterates know that
>>56237678
i tried ubuntu back when it was version 8.04 or something, im not that much of a beginner, even managed to install and setup arch a year ago, also tried debian but it or gnome or whatever broke when i tried setting up bumblebee as my gpu wasnt supported back then
>>56237671
Fedora 24 fucking sucks - what Graphics card do you have?
This is a fully libre EOMA-68 laptop.
Notice how the trackpad is shoved in without care, wood covering the front surface and the keyboard looks bent.
Is this GNU/Car in real life?
